He's the real deal. He needs to work on his secondary pitches, which is what he's doing, and get stretched out before we see his full potential. It wouldn't surprise me if he pitches in AAA at some point this season and be ready for the big club in 2023.

I know youre not a pitching coach. Worst mechanics ive ever seen, does not drive to target instead falls off horribly- real deal ?
I remember in an interview of Al Leiter he talked about how he uses deGroms pitching style as a great benchmark to follow and you can see a little bit of deGroms little moves before each pitch, the glove to the face and already prepared to take the sign and get into his motion to throw the pitch you see how Jack leiter was able to use it in his own way, hope the kid becomes great
Degrom does not fall off the mound after throwing, you gotta be kidding, those little moves you refer to are window dressing.

thought it was a fantastic outting. strikes out 7 of 9 batters, looked to me like that call at the plate was questionable.He will be in Triple A by late july or august imo.If he does well in spring training next ytear might even make the starting rotation. Dude is an animal.

Yeah AA ball is the level collectively agreed to be where you start to see players that are pretty well developed. Having a guy playing pro ball for the first time and expecting him to be ahead of every hitter at AA is like expecting a person who just got the hang of algebra to suddenly be an expert at high level differential equations. It’d be really impressive but it’s incredibly unlikely. Mr. bean hit the nail on the head.
