I agree and here are some more reasons why origins is superior in my opinion:
1. Difficulty. Legends is way too easy with those heart power-ups and savepoints everywhere
2. Better ost overall.
3. Better artstyle
4. *Thicc nymphs*

I remember getting origins for christmas when i was a wee lad, a very dyslexic lad. I remember unwrapping the game next to my younger brother, and immediately exclaiming "rayman orgies!" out loud, in front of my parents and brother.

That’s a great point! They designed every level to be played slowly to find every secret and then to be speedrun afterwards. It’s genius!
This feels like a video straight out of early UA-cam, as if you guys just finished playing Legends back in 2013 (when it came out.) Loved the skits & comedy all throughout; this gave me a good laugh.

rayman origins was one of my childhood games. i played it on the 3DS and i loved it.

I spent a lot of time with my grandma's XBOX360 (yeah, she almost completed Bioshock Infinite at this moment, don't be surprised) and that was so great. I played Rayman Origins without any thought about rest. But not only Rayman has gave me my childhood.
NFS The Run, Pure, Far Cry 3, Angry Birds, Portal. All of these games gave me happiness.
But anyway, it's really cool to see, how your grandma initiates a 5-star pursuit with ice-cream truck😂😅 (in GTA 5:-))

aside from the thicc Nymphs, I miss the OG Trilogy more than anything else.
To me, they gave Rayman the same treatment they eventually gave to Ty the Tasmanian Tiger

You nailed it about Origins being a more cohesive adventure. Also adding to that immersion is how the Mosquito levels show the transition from one environment to another. This is the main reason I prefer Origins, but it's also more challenging and has better music in my opinion.
We just noticed that transition between worlds for the first time playing the game for this video! This game keeps finding new ways to impress us!

Also brilliant use of the Rayman "YEAH!" at 4:36 gave me a good laugh
Origins is my favorite. The final platforming segment (chasing the Magician, not the the secret level) is one of my favorite gaming moments.
The song in the water level also stands out. I wish there was a port.
i vibe with the scene at 00:30 so fucking hard, literally had a thought almost verbatim when experiencing the original rayman game and his "YEAH!!!!!" for the first time recently 😭
I have a distinct memory of hearing someone call it "Rayman Legends Origins" once.
I think that has also had an impact on the relative obscurity of Origins. The two subtitles are some of the front runners for forgettable subtitle, and there's nothing else to grab onto, meaning I suspect a lot of people hear about the game, struggle to parse the difference, then just get the more recent one.
If Rayman Origins were renamed "Rayman, the one with the treasure box levels and the incredibly provocative fairy girls", and Legends was renamed "Rayman, the one with the rythm platformer music levels", I think this would benefit both games tremendously.

Super Mario Wonder positively REEKS of Rayman Legends Origins, so, I guess they did something right

legends was remembered for its awesome parody music and those godamn water levels. They actually made some of the best water levels for a platformer game, ever.
origins was the first intro i had to these games; the only console i had was a wii and as a huge mario kid it changed my perspective entirely as "wow not all platformers have to be that linear"
i excitedly got legends on my wii U i got from a friend, and found tons of the little things I loved about the game, specifically its harder difficulty and constant challenges to perfect a level and world, i felt crazy when i went online and everyone only cared for legends! thabnk u for this video
it felt so alive! like a real adventure. I thought it was nostalgia goggles, only to go back and be shocked at how it really actually WAS that hard, and did feel that cool.
this channel is so interesting with the two of you, really underrated!

Rayman Origins is my favorite game of all time, i love everything about it. It sucks that it is not talked about much compared to Legends, Legends in my opinion made some things a bit more dull or less interesting, but it is still a great game of course. I do not think any other game would go above Origins for me.
this is one of my favorite games, I still play it sometimes on the ps3 along with the entire lbp series. The three things I remember about Rayman origins are: the mosquito levels (because of their AMAZING soundtrack), THE STUPJD WOOD SNAKE THINGY LEVELS (those were so hard to beat),
and the *THICCCCCCCC NYPHMS*
I hear the 25 or so Origins levels left out of Legends are so good and that makes it a reason to play Origins for me..

✨️This is AMAZING✨️ Since i was little, i played rayman, i passed a bunch of hours playing, daydreaming about the game's desing. After school, the first thing i would do ,would be playing rayman.
Iam the first member of my family that finished the game a lot of times and also had almost everything completed (that mechanic world was hard to me find everything and get all the lums) also my favorite parts of both RO and RL is the "Mexicans" one!!!(iam brazilian but with a huge love for mexico) I find super cool the mechanics, super nostalgic and i love that aesthetic so much!!!
I feel that..Almost NO ONE talks about how great rayman is and still is.
I have only one friend that played these two and she loved! Nobody else.

I actually played both of these games and I liked both of them. The first one I played was the legends version. I Actually happened to get it at the year of its release for the xbox. I don't remember if I knew about origins version by that time, but I clearly remember that I was embarrassed to play it because of those ladies. I played it quite recently on pc and I almost completed it whole (except that one of the last levels where I still can't complete the time challenge)
They're both very hard to put down. We were amazed at how well they hold up over a decade later.

I never played legends but when I was younger my family rented a bunch of xbox games for a while, Rayman origins being one of them. It was honestly one of my favorite games of the time, and I'm considering trying to find a way to play it again now that I have my own money to actually buy myself a copy.
I used to play origins as a kid and only beat it a year ago and it will always be iconic to me . The art style and music is so nice !!

I've only played some of Origins, but most of its levels are unlockable in Legends. I'd say play Legends if you're only going to play one of them. It goes on sale pretty frequently too, less than a week ago it was on sale down from $40 to 8 on switch
Legends remastering of the origins stages are still enjoyable as someone who only really played the sequel. Its got the chase and shooter levels too.

My friend and I have been stuck on the last treasure chase called Tricky Temple Too for over 3 months in Rayman Origins. We of course beat the game, all time trials, lums, etc., but just need the last treasure chase to unlock Land of the livid dead. It has stopped being fun and we're ready to finally give up and move on to Rayman Legends on Wii U.
I always wanted to play this game and still do to this day but never had a Xbox or PS3
TOTALLY AGREE!! Origins is by far my favorite 2D platformer of all time. Although Legends is also fantastic and deserves all of its praise, it is a shame how overshadowed Origins is as a result. I personally prefer the artstyle of Origins, the level design, and more importantly, the ways in which the levels and worlds flow. The immersion Origins is able to bring to such vibrant atmospheres and blend it with a great sense of humor, tight gameplay, and charming characters makes it unforgettable, at least in my opinion.. :]

I agree with all the charming points for Origins. The vibe felt funner, and of course more nostalgic for me being an original Rayman enthusiast. The only reason I'd give Legends a credit as a game over Origins is that Legends at least has a sizeable chunk of Origins hidden within it, which is impressive regardless of the few differences the levels feature. But when it comes to experience, Origins has my whole heart.
I only ever played Origins but dan was that a blast on the Wii.

Is it just me or did the controls of Origins felt tighter than those of Legends? Perhaps a little stiffer as a result too, but I felt like I was in precise control in Origins and lost that in the transition. Haven’t played them back to back to know if I’m just crazy or what.

I don't know if it's exclusive to Definitive Edition, but there is an ENTIRE MODE dedicated to bringing back SOME of the levels from Rayman Origins, including the Tricky Treasure and Moskito stages.

I grew up with Legends, but they added about 40% of Origin content into it as extra unlockable levels. Kinda like 2 games at once.

I really didn't know origins was a different or i would have gotten it. I thought legends was just a remaster and i felt like an absolute boss for being able to consistently beat the final level.
The murphy levels are bad in the switch version. You are murph and you escort someone to the end with the same collectables.
Do you mean the Wii U version? That’s the one we reference in the video where you play as Murphy on the touchscreen.

@@RakoonCD Oh that's right! The Switch port includes both versions of the Murphy levels. The ones in the main quest are the versions where you control the character, and the touchscreen versions from the Wii U are in a separate section.
But anyway, yes, they're kind of a bummer. An interesting idea but a little slow and unexciting in practice.

It's been a long while since I've played Origins, I sold my Xbox 360 a long time ago, and never got the game on PC, since then I wasn't able to play Origins anymore sadly, but I got Legends for free on PC, after years of playing the demo on the X360 along with the full version of Origins, and it was so good, Rayman Legends is such a good game, but Origins is also amazing, and more nostalgic, I feel that Origins is a game that makes me feel cozy, and I do feel that there are some good parts in Origins
There IS a world in Legends called "Return to Origins" and it is a remake of some levels of Origins, that's fair, but even so, some parts in Origins are just REALLY good
