They could've made a normal moveset using Minecraft tools, sorta like villager, and most people would likely be satisfied, but they went as far as making a full crafting system. My respects for Mr. Sakurai and his team.

Ok, my friends call me Fortune Incarnate because I play Hero and I'm good at him, and everytime they lose, they blame luck. So I'm kinda glad I have the ability to utilize and interesting and expansive mechanic to beat up my friends, and if they say I got lucky with the resources, they can't complain if they utilize Omega or Battlefield.

Yeah this is why translating language is so complex. Even when there are literal 1:1 word to word translations they don't make much sense when translated or don't have the same impact. I can't speak for Native Japanese speakers on how "House of Boom" sounds to them if there is a 1:1 translation but to an English speaker using a normal noun to describe an ultimate move in a fighting game doesn't have a strong effect. You want a proper noun like House of Boom.

They should be very proud of how they respected this game in this dlc. It very easily could have been corporate bs and they just tag sword fighter moves on Steve but they really gave it all they had and were very creative.
I honestly prefer just the subtitles. It makes it feel a lot more personal, like Sakurai himself is presenting it to me.
Edit: I wanted to clarify; I mean in the context of the voice over. Something about hearing Sakurai's voice alone with the subtitles makes it feel a lot more personal than having someone else's voice talk over him to translate.

Honestly I love how Sakurai cares so much about the people that are playing smash, the details and he put his soul into this. It was thanks to not only Kirby but also the smash series that I discovered that I love video games so much. For me he’s and will always be the best game director.
Also the game staff are doing a awesome job here, even with this pandemic, they’re bringing us this particle of happiness.

Yeah, the benefit of voiceover is I don’t have to read subtitles so I can watch the action more closely. But it feels more genuine to hear Mr Sakurai’s real voice.
You can really feel the love he has for the game. They should keep this format going forward.
@@masonstine1523 Yeah, that's part of why I'd love to see Nintendo let him try making other games again; he's actually quite known for not liking to endlessly churn out sequel after sequel. Remember, he's the guy- no, GOD who made Kirby! Last time he got to spearhead a non-Smash game, HE MADE KID ICARUS UPRISING (itself a lot like a standalone game set in an otherwise abandoned game universe) which was hands-down best game on 3DS and the only reason I bought that console
He's probably one of the only people with the attention to detail that would get something like Smash Ultimate to the diabetes-inducing level of easter egg content it's reached, but imagine how good a whole new game with his mind at the helm would be rather... as fantastic as it is to get Smash content like this. His passion, skill, creativity, charm as a presenter, etc, all seem too good to keep to rehashing expansion content.
Then again, Smash Ultimate was definitely the most secure move business-wise from Nintendo's point of view, so can't exactly pull out the pitchforks against the executives for that.

I’m laughing because this is such a funny character and meme. But I’m also giga impressed at all the hard work and incredible implementation of this one character. Tbf he is the icon of Indie gaming so he absolutely deserves this much work.
I mean he really isn't an indie game character anymore. Replied to someone who said that Steve's basically the 1st indie game rep and also said that he used to.
That means if big companies like Capcom, Nintendo, and more bought indie companies, that would mean that their indie game characters can get in smash..but only if a company buys the company or rights of that company...

I love how this character has the simplest design and animation, but also one of the most complex mechanics. He looks like he’ll certainly be interesting to play as and against.
He'll be fun to play with buddies, but I can guarantee you he'll do a lot of spamming and cheesing online. I can already see people sending high-damage opponents off the cliff with minecarts or building blocks obstacles the ledge to stop recoveries.
@@elbuhdai605 In exchange for extremely poor range and lots of preparation require. He would be weak in most maps due to not being able to mine the material needed and nothing to stop people from rushing them down before they finish their preparation
El Buhdai Yeah I think in 2v2 online for example, one person will take on enemies while the other just mines until they have Diamond and start dominating.

It's well protected. But with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break his grip on freehold.
the amount of work that went into this character is insane. Whatever you think of the character, you have to respect the sheer effort that went in.
This single char is probably one of the greatest works in videogames history. You can really feel the care with the adaptations.

Nmac true but that was years ago. Smash is known as one of the best fighting games in the world now. Sakurai knows his audience and he knows that he needs to keep them hyped. While Yes Minecraft’s music is good and many people would still be hyped if it was in. Non MineCraft fans most likely wouldn’t like such calming music in a fighting game. That’s my opinion tho, pls don’t bully me😄

I’m 90% sure they couldn’t get the rights to the original soundtrack, or it would have cost too much. The soundtrack was composed by C418, and might not be entirely owned by Microsoft at this point. With that context, it makes more sense that they only put in music from spin-off titles

He is the sole person to be granted executive director for each of the projects he leads at nintendo, despite not being employed by Nintendo anymore(he quit to make games with his own company, interesting story to read up on) yet they continue to ask for his work on existing francises. Even Satoru Iwata mentioned his fondness of Sakurai's work.

Super Smash Brothers is meant to be a celebration of gaming icons throughout the ages. And I think it's a neat recognition for literally the top-selling video game of the decade.
Who knows, maybe we'll get a GTA/Red Dead or an Elder Scrolls representative in the future. We've now almost got one of each of the top 20 games.
