Dear Lady Decade, there are 2 topics I would love to learn about. Could you please tell us about 1) the people behind Sega : we know the big names, Yu Suzuki, Yuji Naka, Tetsuo Mizugushi... Carol Yas... what about the others ? Isao Okawa (the big boss), the people behind Hitmaker, the Team Shinobi, the CRI, Sega of America, the artists who drew Phantasy Star IV, Team Andromac that later became Smilebit, that very strange creator that did Landstalker, Blue Stinger and Ill Bleed, I'm sure there's plenty to discuss about these hardworking Japanese unsung heros. 2) The second topic I'd love to know more about is the long history of ties between Capcom and Sega : I read or heard that Capcom used pieces from Sega's System 16 board, there's also Ghouls'N Ghosts with Yuji Naka at the helm of an arcade port that gave relevance to the Mega Drive behind Nintendo's back, Strider, Final Fight CD, then the partnership seemed to grow even more (Code Veronica, Naomi, etc.) Was their relationship always rosy ? Another company blows my mind, GameArts.
It’s really sad the American and Japanese branch couldn’t harmonize, the American market was crazy for Sega back in the mid 90s and the software they put out was so unique compared to the competition.
Really miss Sega.
One of the main reasons was the sheer arrogance of the Japanese branch of Sega. They were hoisted on their own petard.
In late 96’-early 97’ I read about a Sega Dural system that would be able to play Street Fighter 3 in Game Pro , I guess it became Dreamcast
You‘re right. Dural was one of Dreamcast‘s project names. I remember it was supposed to run Virtua Fighter 3, which it did. Although not in 100% arcade quality.

Indeed it did. iirc Dural was a very early name for one of the projects that turned into the Dreamcast.
Dural was the arcade board version I believe.
Ah yes that time when they were naming everything after planets. I remember a games magazine doing an April Fools about the upcoming Sega Uranus.

Imagine if Sega never stopped making consoles, they would still be around competing with PS, Xbox & Nintendo to this day.
Maybe so but would still be the worst selling consoles on the market, sega genesis was the only successful they ever made.

@@hpickettz34 Dreamcast was so ahead, I really hate PS2 kill it so soon. But having a DVD player in 2001 was amazing.

I had the Titan arcade cabinet made of rubbermaid plastic, it was AMAZINGLY HEAVY, wish I still had it.

I seen the die hard arcade cabinet here in the states along time ago, I was suprised to see it, I was like what?! Sega made a arcade cabinet based on saturn hardware? I though that was crazy at the time.

However, if Sega Dreamcast still dares to compete, that's fine and Sega will still develop. However, because West and East Sega had different directions, it was destroyed in 1999.

Titan was basically Sega ripping off NeoGeo... Kind of a shame it didn't catch on, though. Could've actually been a boost for Nintendo's own commitment to cartridges at the time with the N64.

I don't understand the retro gaming community's fascination with sega consoles..especially the dreamcast. It's gaming library was garbage and its hardware was lacking compared to the ps2 and others of its time.
