I just came home from Hawaii, where I was in town for the Great Aloha Run. While the echoes from the stadium seats muffled the sound, far and away hands down shakas held high, nobody plays "Five-O" with more passion than the marching band that's proud to call Hawaii its home. Mahalo for posting the video and keep up the good work. Alo-HA! :)
They started playing this at a Hawaii SJSU game late in the game on UH final Off drive. Im SJSU alum but i gotta admit that was dope it would really get me going.
i think Hawaii should've won the competition right from the start..after all they are the original band that made the theme song into a band version. plus too they are from Hawaii, so LET DA LOCALS DO EM!
@paulthetrombone Hey, thanks for sharing! No disrespect to the person who made the video above, but I feel that the other video incorporated all the various parts (dancers, marching band, twirler, colorguard, practices, and even the behind the scenes/candid footage) seamlessly and accurately depicted what the University of Hawaii Rainbow Warrior Marching Band is all about. Props to those who helped create both videos! GO WARRIORS!!!
i love it, it looks home made 'cause it is home! ok, don't want to be rude, the women cheerleaders are beautiful, but maybe lots of mainlanders think they are overweight. this is as real as can be. loves it that they are barefooted, too. GOOD JOB! i wouldn't have changed anything.
@LocketupTight: Yes actually this was a problem for us since there actually isn't much footage of the band playing Hawaii Five-0...and because it was our dancer feature, that's what the focus was on. I agree we wish we had more footage of the band, but we had to go with what we had. @kane0187: Many other schools had the money and resources to put out those "nice" sounding recordings. We unfortunately did not. If you would like to help, please make a donation to the band. Thank you.
I think CBS missed something here. There never should have been a vote, the UH band should have automatically been asked to play the Hawaii 5 0 theme. No other band can play THIS song with as much feeling as our UH Band.
@UHBows Unfortunately there are several bands that have recordings that don't sound like they just stuck one mic on the 50 and used that. Dirty trombone entrance for the loss.
@myyellowkitchen I thought the dancers were barefooted at first, too. But if you look closely as I did the second or third time around, you'll see that they're actually wearing nude colored jazz shoes. There's no way the ladies would be able to do all those turns on that artificial grass with bare feet. Lol.
You would think that UH would be the best band playing “Hawaii Five-O” because of the many years they have played it. But they are miles away from being the best band in this competition.
@OoeMusicHI Haha! Yeah, one of my friends set me straight after i posted it on facebook. I didn't even care to notice that CBS posted the video. I guess the pride of being a UH alumni just came over me. lol.
There is something about this video that don't feel smooth. Thinking that is why the UH Band was not selected. There were some good parts but the video needed a little more work on the editing. The recording of the band did not sound very good. This felt like a first cut. I liked the trombones though. And it started off kind of cool with that surfboard intro. Perhaps having those cheerleaders dress up in Polynesian-looking costumes might have helped the video stand out from the other Bands. When comparing this to what the Notre Dame Band did... it is clear that the UH Band's video was not as good. UH's video just needed a little more polishing.
Excellent! Nobody performs "Hawaii Five-O" better than the University of Hawaii Rainbow Marching Band! Go Bows!

We have the best looking dancers
I don't see any ugly women in Hawaii. Do you throw them into the volcano or the ocean or something
No debate there
Show demais!! 👏👏👏 Brasil 2020 🇧🇷🙏
No one does it better than Hawaii! :]
@OoeMusicHI agreed and i apologize. YOU ALL look great and love the awesome performance!
I mass emailed my classes to vote. I hope we win! ^_____^
On the 5 0 yard line.

In the 70s, every HS and College Marching band in the country had this in their repertoire

i've never once heard someone in real life say "surf's up"
😭😂😂😂

The Best Damn Band In The ... Islands!
Not fair. Your state has its own great song.
I kinda wish the CBS Contest had the version where the tempo slows down, like I heard at the Wahine Volley Ball Game.
Hawaii has the most talent
i wanna move to hawaii home of the best ever tv cop show theme.
Jack Lord is smiling.

Go get em!!!! Hawaii fo da win!
Super
no matter how well it's recorded or what it's played on, there is no way to get the sound and feel of a live marching band on video
Couldn’t agree more. My kids were in a BoA finals high school band and I attended most of the shows. Made me cry every single time.

BLOOPERS PAPA CARLO GABY VERA HAWAII FIVE 5 0
Wow... i would have liked to actually see the band instead of just the danceline and drumline... It is a marching BAND contest, after all.
too fast....
wow, that was sloppy, disappointing UH =/
the low brass is off
