The 2008 one is one of my all time favorite film. I love the mysterious aspect that you dont know who they are or why they do this. its just because "they were home" but this trailer gives off a "the whole town is in on it and they dont like outsiders" vibe. so these 3 kill the "strangers" in their town. i hope its good and not another cheesy jump scare film
It's for sure my fav horror film. Because it's believable. Nothing supernatural. You can imagine there are real people out there who would do it.
@@mwbeck Ehhhh. I don't think it's believable at all. The Strangers in the first film have a supernatural ability to disappear and reappear in an instant. The car scene was so dumb. They poked him and then vanished into thin air as soon as he turned his head? Yeah okay.
@@hismonkeybusiness6763 The Strangers (2008) based on true story. Is rooted in real-life crimes, including the Manson Family murders and the unsolved Keddie Cabin murders. So, it's believable.
Yeah, the reason "because you were home." Is, for me, one of the creepiest lines I've heard in a horror movie. Only bc people like that exist in the real world.
Since they arrived in that town everyone was mean with them, no one talked to them, so everyone is weird. That's why pin up girl said "Beacuse you're here". Like why are you here? This is our place. Something like that.
Calling it: the main couple survives, but is driven crazy, thus becoming the canonical Strangers.

What are you talking about, it looks like there's a lot of things different from the original. We get to see more characters, it's not just a nighttime film, the killers seem to be more aggressive

So, why hasn't AirBnB wondered why everyone who books this house in the town of serial killers is never heard from again? There are booking records; worried relatives and friends asking questions. The first missing couple might be passed off to the state authorities as an unfortunate disappearance by the sinister local sheriff... but the second, and the third - the tenth time it happens? The FBI live for this.

It feels like a SCREAM/STAB movie scenario where the real-life situation happened in our reality but this new 2024 movie is a "Based on real events" situation
They weren't home so that line makes more sense
In the original, the scene where one of the strangers walks out of the shadows but you barely notice him, still one of the most terrifying slasher scenes in the modern era. I don't think this movie is capturing that tone with all the loud jump scares. Not saying the original didnt have any jump scares, but they did a much better job creating tension, which I don't think this movie will have based on all the jump scares in the trailer alone.
And also agree on the new line change. "Because you were home" from the original is soooo much better and more menacing because it's directing the victims to their only place where they feel "safe."
Agreed! Even the trailer from the older one had a more unique tone than this one. The record skips on the old song of that trailer gave me the creeps!
It’s only the trailer. I reccomend you watch the two clips they released it will definitely have a lot of tension build up and I doubt off what I’ve seen so far it will rely of too many jump scares. My favorite clip is the knock knock clip where you can see someone lurking inside the house while the main girl is distracted at the door

So is this a remake or a prequel trilogy? “See how the strangers became the strangers” sounds like a prequel, but this is literally the story of the original, but more expansive. Some of the stuff with the truck makes me think of Prey at Night, but I don’t remember it being in the original. Also I can tell this won’t be near as good as the original. It has an uncanniness feel like a scary movie spoof. Also that shower scene was too in your face. What I loved about the original is how subtle they can be. The greatest scene in the film is where the Man in the mask is just standing in the hallway just stalking from the shadows almost unnoticeably. My biggest fear with the trilogy is I think they will unmask The Strangers, which is a horrible idea. The fact that beside for knowing the actors, we still have no idea who they were 16 years later. They could be walking among us and we wouldn’t know it. I can’t think of many other horror villain that have never been unmasked.

The director said different story’s can happen in the universe. Which means these aren’t the same killers from 1 and 2. They look identical but they aren’t the same psychopaths
@@tayc9542 Are you daft? This trailer LITERALLY SAYS "SEE HOW THE STRANGERS BECAME THE STRANGERS". It is a prequel and this movie is legit practically a remake of the original at the same time. The director even says this is a PREQUEL SERIES that opens the door to more movies.

Looks better than I expected given that Renny Harlin's behind the camera and it's always a pleasure to watch Richard Brake perform, but still a bit cautious and the release strategy is bizarre.
I'm not a big fan of The Strangers series because home invasion movies scare me. But I do like Madelaine Pesch so I may give this a try
I need this to be good, if only because I can tell Madelaine Petsch could have an INCREDIBLE career as a Scream Queen. EDIT: sigh................ Hollywood; get better trailer editors. Way to give away your big twist at the end of the thing that's supposed to make me want to watch your film........
Sadly, the studios have decided that this is exactly what they want their trailer editors to do. Goodness knows why they think its wise to give away everything in their films, but they have gone down this road over the past 15 years. I suspect they think generations used to TikTok and memes have much shorter attention spans than they actually do.

“The Strangers” is scary because you don’t know why they’re doing what they’re doing. What the audience fills in the blank with from their imagination is way scarier than anything that could be explained in the movie through backstory. That anyone thought this was a good idea is a huge red flag that makes me not want to see the movie.

With two more chapters releasing this year, I'm predicting this couple becomes The Strangers in the first two films with another victim who joins them.
So, The redhead becomes Pinup Girl and her boyfriend becomes Man in the Mask. They must meet a blonde later to become Doll Face.
I was not expecting to them to make the exact same movie as the first, little annoying but will watch

The twist at the end will be that the strangers are killed but the physiological damage they’ve done has broken and changed this couple into the next strangers.
