I really don’t think it looks like an exact copy. The drama between the two leads with her turning down his marriage proposal in the original one was a big deal. In this, it seems like they’re all good and are getting along. That really makes a big difference.

I think that The Strangers trilogy functions like spiritual successors if filmmakers said that these movies exist in the same continuity. These new killers are probably copycats inspired by the earlier killers from the first and second movies.
I've noticed that there doesn't seem to be any modern technology in the movie. So it makes me wonder if it is a prequel. The cars look from the 2000’s, I haven't seen any iPhones, all the stuff in the cabin is older. (box tv’s, record player, etc) so maybe it's before the original strangers movie.
In the strangers prey at night the one protagonist asked why are you doing this to us? And doll face responds with why not. What if the motivation is that there is none and they just kill for fun
They way they're screaming during the motorboating scene almost leads me to believe its his girlfriend that they gagged and put in the mask and shes screaming so he won't kill her thinking its one of them
i have a theory so at the end of the trailer the boyfriend points a gun towards pin up girl i think he is going to shoot pin up girl and she will die and there is also a photo where doll face and the man in the mask are standing next to a truck so i think at the end of the trilogy madeline petch is going to become pin up girl and it would explain why in the first movie when the woman asked “why they were doing this to us” and they said “because you were home” why they said that because they wanted kristen to join them and it would also explain why kristen was spared at the end of the movie ( in the alternate ending) and i think madeleine petch’s character will actually join them.
What i would do is have the first one be a prequel…then the other two be sequels too the original but still keep prey at night canon though with the song “i think we’re alone now” for the first movie. What ya think of that? 😅🤷🏻♂️

My theory is that Pinup girl is the leader and has been all along because in the original, it was mainly Dollface, who showed empathy and I really think felt bad for what she was doing. Especially when Pinup Girl tells her it will be easier next time, which was true. In Prey At Night, Dollface was ruthless and unrelenting up until her shotgun demise. Remember too…Kristen lived at the end of the original, as did the brother and sister in Prey At Night, and based on the alternate ending The Man in the Mask survived as well. I’m so stoked for this!!!!

That would be us witnessing the strangers hanging out and coming up with ideas and reasons to terrify people. They seem to already be THE STRANGERS here. Just like Orphan First Kill was not a movie about her first kill

It takes place in the same universe, of the past strangers movies, dealing with the origin stories of the three masks killers! So you need to be aware when you go to the theaters in May you're not walking into a direct reboot or remake.
