Nate F wait, so you’re not allowed to add a gearbox because there’s no rev limiter? That doesn’t make any sense. Every production EV still has a maximum RPM for each motor. Like I said a good example is the Concept 2, or even early Model S cars from Tesla. Some models had a second gear for more efficient highway cruising. Electric cars don’t use gearboxes because they’re less efficient than direct-drive. If they wanted to, there’s nothing stopping them from doing so.
Nate F And I guess the comparison wasn’t very logical in the first place considering that both cars have separate purposes. The point still stands that electric motors have a ton of torque that’s instant. A WRC car has a top speed of about 124mph. That’s a 43 mph difference than the ID R, which has about 680hp compared to the 600hp of Rally Cross cars. Even though the rally cross cars would accelerate more quickly on better tires, they still do so with a gearbox and still have a lower top speed. The ID R could accelerate more quickly with a gearbox, but it would cause the car to lose range.

MAX MAX when you have a formula e car that actually works of course it would wipe anything. Anything except the F1 cars, WTA racers, and pikes peak hill climbers. In fact, considering the IDR was made to basically “cheat” the pikes peak by not needing oxygen, most pikes peak racers would wipe it off the map at sea level.
Robin Larner that’s literally one car. It would get wiped by the rs200 making 950 hp with half the weight. It contended at pikes peak and only had 450 at that altitude.
*I sorta think, that, there should be multiple separtate categories for the timed runs.. I'd like to see the 1900-1930's cars have their own category, same for the 40's - 50's cars (i.e the Ferrari 166), the 60's and 70's cars (I.E. the Ford GT40 Roadster). The rally cars/WRC/WRX, the open-wheel cars, the NASCAR's and cars like the GT3 Cup, Dallara and BMW Judd should all be timed in specific categories.. At the very least, give the pre-WWII cars, their own category, there's always plenty of them, to where they could have their own separate grouping; same goes for the rally cars.*

@@THESLlCK don't think so, Loeb's Pikes Peak 208 T16 (previous fastest up Pike's Peak) was nearly 5 seconds slower up Goodwood HC.
@@robinlarner9325 This Mike Russo guy... Making uninformed statements in pretty much every comment on this page :D
Robin Larner that’s literally one car. It would get wiped by the rs200 making 950 hp with half the weight. It contended at pikes peak and only had 450 at that altitude.
This took my breath away several times. Amazing to watch. Thank you #gwspeed for sharing this historic event!
That IDR is an absolute monster. Love the sound as well
*I sorta think, that, there should be multiple separtate categories for the timed runs..
06:46 @ The Star of event (FIAT S76, restore as Duncan Pittaway) absolully spectacular see "The Beast of Turin" 😍😍😍😍
Getaway VW I.D.R!
That 1934 Alfa Romeo P3 (Tipo B) @19:28 went for $4,395,104 USD at RM Sotheby's back in February 2017. 1934, but Good God, does it sound great. Probably my favorite car engine sound of all time...and I'm a 'Murican, used to 427 / LS Chevys, 502 Keith Black builds, supercharged, fuel injected, or otherwise. Just the sweetest exhaust note of all time, imho.
It sounds amazing
Whilst this year's shoot out was okay, it needed a Justin Law, Kenny Brack, Rod Millen, Mike Skinner, Olly Clark etc to spice it up a bit
Err....Oliver Solberg wasn't entertainment?
Agreed Kenny brack is nuts especially his famous gt40 in the wet race he did
The old boy who drives the Ferrari 330p (or similar) was badly missed as well. He's just fantastic. I thought I saw his car there at Goodwood but maybe it wasn't his...
@@mr8I7 Peter Hardman, yes i agree
@@mr8I7 you mean David Franklin?
U can see the maturity of peter solberg. His son is wikkid tho!!! Good stuff
Anyone else in agreeance that the Combustion engine and the Electric cars should be in separate leader boards?
@@natef4240 Has nothing to do in relation to my question.
That Indy car was in a rage !
I did not expect that much performance .
Nick heidfeld is down on power in that formula E mahindra
I have this playing as background noise, at like 75% volume, and its so soothing hearing this beasts bang gears and slam past as I build this new computer
Thank you for giving me a entertaining Sunday evening
Used to go to Can-Am racing back in the 70's and 80's with my father the engines were crazy unlimited for those days 1000 HP with turbo's and super chargers.
I would love to some day visit Goodwood, my favorite place to watch races....
Why was the woman driving a 1992 F1 car beat buy a guy driving a 1928 Bugatti????????????
she does this every year, its a disgrace.
its nice to see the car, but she should hand it over to someone who can actually drive it properly.
@@hanswurst6712 doesn't she own it?
@@hanswurst6712 Don't break it if you can't afford to replace it. I'm sure she'd push more if money or parts availability weren't an issue.
They are not allowed to go to a proper run in F1 cars
Can't really get heat into F1 tyres on such a short run, and especially with all that torque you'd be on your way to a horrendous accident.
That Volkswagen Electirc car is absolutely Mental
The Goodwood Hill Climb course would be a great addition to Forza 7 and Forza Horizon 4, especially since the latter is set in the UK. Just saying... #Turn10
Just get Gran Turismo, it's there.
And drive... what? You can drive almost everything or something very close to every car you see here in Forza 7. Looking at the cars available in Gran Turismo makes me depressed.
Love the nascars and the classic rally cars. The sound is just fantastic.
The B192 Driver wasn't pushing it :/
Saw her driving in person at Brands Hatch, Not quick at all
That pair between Julian Mazjub and the Type 35B was a match made in heaven.
Oliver Solbergs run was LAIRY
fantastica gara. Grazie di aver condiviso. Incredibile vedere la E-car dare 5" alle VRX. Ma anche meravigliosa la Bugatti 35, un missile e grande manico.
That focus pikes peak is just an LMP come rally car with a Ford vaguely drawn on top
I think Tony got a marcs car Australia focus chassis and added more down force to the car
That dallara music...Thunder..
Would have loved to see another run for that IndyCar.. would you think he could have won it? Lots of power to keep her steady.
A bit predictable, but good fun.
after 1h and 10min I realised i was right.
For me, it matters not.
Just seeing these grand old girls at speed is a real treat!
how on earth would that be predictable
I don't have to pay to get in, fly in a cramped plane with smelly, loud people, and I get a great view. Thanks Goodwood!!!
50:07 "coming thick and fast"
the idr is so op
he was first by seconds
what a rocket VW build there
no competition
