People that compare LeBron James to Michael Jordan either weren't around in the 80's and 90's or they were getting high and watching the Simpsons instead of basketball! There will NEVER be a player as long as I live who will possess MJ's rare combination of athleticism, skill, basketball IQ, killer instinct and fundamentals of the game. He was a one of a kind like Babe Ruth, Muhammad Ali, Tiger Woods, Jim Brown and Wayne getzky and never to be duplicated. They can change all the league rules they want a try to fabricate a replica but those who are true sports fans will always know the difference.
People who say LeBron is or will b better than this man need yall head examined, Im born and raised in chicago, there are great talents in basketball, some have come and gone, but this man here will never b forgotten, not to b duplicated, never imitated...closest thing to him is The Black Mamba, and as great as he is, Mj is 100 times better, Mj make shit look to easy, scores effortlessly, swagged out, makin other top players look like rookies...no one will ever b greater than this man!!!!
MJ was just once or two steps ahead of the rest in his field just the mental aspect of his game at reading it no one comes close even when you watch this game if MJ was playing today it would be same he would be playing amazing good and lets not forget MJ had the best ball fakes of all time
Michael Jordan is unquestionably the greatest player of all time. If you are a MJ fan or a true basketball fan, you can't miss "MICHAEL JORDAN: THE LEGEND OF THE GREATEST (Final Version)": 5 hours and 5 minutes in honor of his greatness. I always felt sorry for starks, one thing though is starks will never run out of stories to tell his children or grandchildren all his terrible experiences vs MJ. And I guess we can say the same about Craig ehlo.
As per Bob Costas... (nothing is more beautiful than watching him {MJ} to watch). This is so true. I personally have stopped following the NBA ever since this Bulls team was dismantled starting with Jordan's second retirement. No one in the NBA nowadays in my opinion is really worth watching. Nothing as beautiful as this.
To me, he is the greatest player of all time, not because of the scores he made, not because of the 6 championships. Just look at 00:45. It's all about the beauty, man.
That is an amazing feat isn't it, accomplishing all that at the age of 35. At the time it did'nt seem like anything new or extarordinary, maybe that was because MJ was just so damn good he spoiled us and we came to always expect absolute greatness. Had he failed at this age, i think people would have learned to except it because we would have had time to let it sink in and fully realize you just don't do this kind of thing at age 35, just amazing. You're right, that's why MJ is the GOAT.
People compare players to MJ but what they're really comparing to is the 33-40 yr old MJ. '87 - '91 MJ is incomparable. That version was out of this world. Think about this, MJ was already being called the greatest to ever play when he retired the first time. That is how good he was.
Jordan gets a standing ovation from MSG at the end of the game. These are the same fans that hated him and the Bulls for so long. Enough said lol...the greatest of all time no doubt
Micheal Jordan always abused NY Knicks at MSG.Seen him plenty of times in person play and it's awesome to see him play.A honor to witness a NBA legend.
On two of his amazing shots in the game MJ really showed his power. To get fouled by big poweful guys like Oakley and T. Cummings, absorb the body contact and still finish at the basket takes tremendous strength. Some people forget just how strong and powerful MJ truly was.
....AND....MJ is doing all this in some throwback 1985 AJ1's. I was wondering why I saw those Nike swooshes on his shoes, because it wasn't until after his rookie season that Jordan's removed the swoosh (something Nike won't even allow Kobe or LeBron the distinction of having), so there you go. Dude's 35 years old, balling in some archaic kicks in an NBA game and dominating like there's nothing to it. G.O.A.T.
Mikey didn't have too abused Charlie Ward like that..lol...I remember this game when I was 13 years old. Still amazes me how he beasted Houston & the Knicks that day
I'll tell you why people dislike these videos, for the same reason the fouls doubled in those games where the bulls led by over 30 points the whole game. People gotta hate..
7:54 the standing ovation he got on the road just shows how great he was. It was like a home game standing ovation. I certainly never seen Kobe or Lebron get this much love on the road.
He wore them as a tribute to his career and the Knicks. The night before the game his wife took those shoes out of the storage closet and he said to himself "this might be my last game in New York, lets go back to the beginning and wear these shoes". Thats from his book 'For The Love of the Game" .
My God, in 1998 he was Regular Season MVP, All-Star Game MVP, Finals MVP, SCORING CHAMPION, 1st TEAM ALL DEFENSE, 1st TEAM ALL NBA,...... In 1998 JORDAN WAS 35 years old.... 35 YEARS OLD.... WTF..... He was a SCORING CHAMPION at 35 YEARS OLD... He has been RETIRED for 9 years and HIS SHOES (AJ XI Concords) still cause RIOTS across the WORLD... HE IS and FOREVER WILL BE THE GOAT....... WOW, 35 YEARS OLD..... NO ONE WILL EVER DO THAT AGAIN!!!!
@ 2:12 every player in the NBA today would have taken that quick 3, likely missed, and wasted the effort that their teammates had to go through to secure that offensive rebound. Not MJ though. He drives to the hole, takes the punishment, draws contact, AND hits the shot.
i can never imagine a player more beautiful to watch play basketball than michael jordan. there never will be .not kobe and defonatly not the steam train lebron james
I know there will be someone out there who thinks he's smarter than other people. So he'll begin to philosophize about Magic "The Greatest"..bla..bla.. Jabbar.. bla bla.. Chamberlain.. or.. bla..bla..Bird - or even bla..bla..LJ/Kobe...Someone will say: MJ was just a scorer...He couldn't pass.; or he was just dunks and layups...etc.Lol! Really??! And without Scottie? Poor MJ (: How many ridiculous comments I've read on youtube so far...!? I think you guys need to study more. I would modestly like to suggest watching this "Michael Jordan - The Legend Of The Greatest" to remove all those fucking bullshit....mmm.. pardon.. your prejudices. Link: MICHAEL JORDAN: THE LEGEND OF THE GREATEST (Final Version) Link: MICHAEL JORDAN: THE LEGEND OF THE GREATEST (by Balthus23) NEW VERSION!
And at the end it's all about coming in and playing hard, nothing bad to say no excuses, doesn't say anything cocky, it's just nice. Michael is the best player ever and he was a pretty good guy off. LeBron will never have that aspect neither on or off the court
He is just scoring relentlessly against great defense here. They're hitting him, hands in his face, early defense help is coming quick and he is just giving it to em AT AGE 34. I repeat AT AGE 34. Kobe is 34 and he's broke, Wade is 32 and he's broke. Jordan didn't break. No argument, no comparison, and without question The Greatest Of All Time. Compare LBJ to all the others below Jordan. DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT COMPARE HIM TO JORDAN.
Brandon Reed He couldn't even reached the playoffs with the most talented team in the western conference and maybe the whole league. Now he could put up some numbers to the detriment of the team. A lot of players can do that. He was not really broken but he was definitely declining. Not a top 10 player no more.
Lion A Firstly, the Lakers did reach the playoffs that season. Secondly, yes, they were the most talented team on paper, but if you payed any attention during the season you would see that the projected starting lineup of Nash, Kobe, MWP, Pau, and Dwight rarely played at the same time, mainly due to injury. In fact, this lineup only started together 7 times over the course of the season. Pau missed 33 games and Nash missed 32. On top of that, Dwight was not himself, refused to run P&R with Nash, and his horrendous free throw shooting costs the Lakers several games. Also, Mike D'Antoni didn't know what the hell he was doing, he was benching Pau for entire fourth quarters, yet refusing to bench Dwight when teams were hacking him every time LA got the ball. Kobe is not absolved of all the blame, as he did chuck the Lakers out of a few games, but for the most part he was the reason they even made the playoffs, especially after he chose to become more of a facilitator in the 2nd half of the season, after starting out 17-25, they won 28 of their next 40 games. And yes, Kobe was a top 10 player in the 2012-13 season, to say otherwise is just laughable.
Kobe hasn't really had that flame in his eye since like 2008. He doesn't seem hungry enough anymore. He's just there waiting on the outcome of the Lakers demise. Its pretty much curtain calling time. Maybe age is a factor or drive. I remember listening to ESPN radio (LOS ANGELES) and them playing back Kobe saying how he had to think about waking up every morning at 4am when he could be at the beach or sleep to go to practice and how it became draining.
Here's your answer: /watch?v=c2CyJdCq-zU He says he never focused becoming a great 3 point shooter as he felt it took away from other parts of his game. Didn't want begin a habit of just waiting outside of the 3pt line, which Kobe is sometimes guilty of w/ as many 3's as he takes. MJ moved really well w/o the ball which made him a threat everywhere.
@MeLLamoAndresIvan I doubt ESPN has ever said that. Everyone knows MJ's peak started when he entered the league and ended only when he retired. Most consistent NBA player ever. 30/6/6 every single day. And if he for some reason had an off day, I felt sorry for the team that was coming up next.
Yeah, taking absolutely nothing away from Kobe, because 61 is 61 and that's desrving of a standing ovation. Of course the 61 pts did break MJ's reacord at MSG, but it definantly does'nt carry anywhere near the impact or lasting memeory of MJ's iconic 55 score there in '95. I just watched that game yesterday on UA-cam, and i'm still amazed at that performance by MJ, 55pts in the Garden, against the league's best defensive team in only your 5th game after 2 years of retirement, UN-BELIVE-ABLE.
People that compare LeBron James to Michael Jordan either weren't around in the 80's and 90's or they were getting high and watching the Simpsons instead of basketball! Amen Brotha
the only player able to have a standing ovation on the road in every arena GOAT
His game is so complete. He had no weaknesses. Goat
That standing ovation though.. GOAT, hands down, no comparison, period.
In the arena of a team that was still a contender though...not bad.
Amazing how MJ gets standing ovations even at MSG
Jordan rockin the 1's
I don't believe we will ever see a 35 yr old not only dominate the nba but also lead the league in scoring. He is and always will be the GOAT
SERIOUSLY... HE WAS TRULY BADASS! DOMINATING THE COURT! WHAT A BEAST! MJ23

and only one guy has this level of artistry
Bob Costas, the excitement lol.. Nice upload man, thanks..
I always felt sorry for starks, one thing though is starks will never run out of stories to tell his children or grandchildren all his terrible experiences vs MJ. And I guess we can say the same about Craig ehlo.
jordan is ahead of his time! the goat no question
Just another performance and reason why MJ was always fun to watch

Michael Jordan loves "The Game of Basketball"
i was in the third grade i remember watchinn this game like it was yesterday mj was incredible

HOW can anyone DISLIKE this.. This is the real Superman!!!
I was there.
Most people need space to make a shot. MJ needs a hand in his face to score.
appreciate the awesome quality work you did to collect all oh these gems - thank you
jordan at 35 = god
jordan at 40 = amazing
kobe at 33 = game over
Im just glad I was born in Chicago and in Chicago during this era....you have no idea how good of times these were!
Cool the air jordans MJ played in!
Great game and always a thoughtful interview, too.
He probably did every type of shot known to the game of basketball in this game alone.. G.O.A.T
the greatest ever...
I don't think anyone will ever be better than MJ
Jordan at that age was like fine wine. You forget how good he was and how no one really compares to the performances that he gave. An amazing athlete.

Oglądałem ten mecz na żywo. Świetny występ MJ
Bob Costas was right, nobody more beautiful to watch play the game, and this game was a perfect example.
He wore the ol school J's in this game!!! EPIC!
MJ23= Total legend. Hope Derrick comes back soon and creates another Chicago legend.
Bob Costas: a number of the players and even two of the officials...are laughing!
Jordan licks his chops...GOAT.
People compare players to MJ but what they're really comparing to is the 33-40 yr old MJ. '87 - '91 MJ is incomparable. That version was out of this world.

If there is something the NBA has lost over the years, is professionalism.
9:01 this what makes MJ the GOAT to me
another classic mj performance thansk bathus23
....AND....MJ is doing all this in some throwback 1985 AJ1's.

it amazes how you cant even tell jordan is playing on the away team. Jordan gets cheered even when hes playing on the road.
i'd trade everything i own to see michael play in msg one more time

Kobe wasn't broken at 34 lol, he averaged 27/6/6 on 46% shooting.
That was Jordan's final season, so he was actually 35, not 34.
Brandon Reed

How can a 6'6 shooting guard be that dominate in the post, if a big man had his post game they would be unstoppable.
MJ is thee greatest. When basketball was
has anyone notice that familiar jumpshot at 5:04? it's clear now that dirk imitate that move..
Lovin' how Jordan was killin it rockin those Retro AJ 1s

Something About The Knicks Always Made Jordan Beast And Zone Out
Pippin setting Jordan up was pure gold in those days
I remember watching this when I was a kid. New Yorkers hated Mike with a passion.
I don't know who invented it but from watching Basketball in the 1980s I've seen it used a couple of times. I remember Clyde Drexler using it once.
