This Video has also been super helpful! We had the exact same problem with the fan wheel broken. We tried the vise method you did but it would not work. Still stuck. So I googled the issue and saw someone else post to use a 7/8th socket on the belt side. Did that and boom. Very easy.
Our blower wheel wasn't that old, thus not very brittle and didn't come off so easily. Ended up using a dremel with a plastic blade to cut through most of it - some cutters and a flat head screw driver was able to get the blower wheel off.
Problems with the dryer again. This time the idler pulley. Replaced it and put everything back together. The dryer has power but will not turn on. HELP!
Thank you.
You welcome

How to you get the belt back on the pulley?
Pinch the belt and feed both ends thru the pulley and then on the motor shaft.
