Pope, you have now been psychedelicsized!! 👍❤🤙
Word!
I grew up with these sounds. Psychedelic music is very beautiful and i especially love the Psychedelic sounds of the Chamber's Brothers and Time. Absolutely one of the greatest!
The song is still stuck in my head 50 years later.
I hear it a lot . Along with People Get Ready on all my playlists. Heard it today 😊
Me too!
Welcome to the sixty's.This performance gives you some insight into how life was at that time. The world was raging
Rest In Peace George Chambers and Brian Keenan. Check out their first 2 Albums, The Time Has Come Today and A New Time-A New Day.
This song is beyond iconic when it comes to the late 60s. Sound quality on this live version lacks but it’s great for the visuals. Check the studio long version for sure. It got plenty of radio play but of course it was a shortened radio edit, which did not include all the screams. Not sure what the significance of the screams was intended to be? A really bad trip?
Dude, you reached the summit here. This song is at the top of the rock and roll mountain. Live version, too. Wow.
Top tier in psychedelic rock! I hope the Chambers Brothers know how much we still ❤ this song today! LSD inspired, the epitome of hippy movement. Thanks, enjoyed that!
This made me think of a psychedelic rock song you will like, "Legend of a Mind (Timothy Leary's Dead)" by the Moody Blues.
Yeah, different realm but looking forward to seeing him crack into the Moodys.
This is one of the songs that never fails to give me goosebumps
(Rod Serling Voice) Imagine if you will , being born in a world where there are electric guitars and LSD readily available for anyone who has the desire to go in that direction.
There’s a cool backstory about how this song came together. One brother was upstairs writing a melody while the other was downstairs writing lyrics. They met up later that night and realized might be able to combine their efforts. Way to go bros !!
A classic one of a kind in psychedelic music and one of my favorites. I t has a great groove. Glad you enjoy ed it!
One my favorites from the 60's!!!
Never saw this one before - the studio version has faaaaar superior audio quality, but not jam - take your pick (can't lose), but the album version is MUST now.
Gotsa love where people came from. Catorgorize and classify. Keep kids outta the jungle. Oh did i say bad things?
I was 16 when I heard them on the AM radio. Can't Turn You Loose tune. When they came to Seattle, saw them. When they played "Time Has Come" about have way through the screams people started Freaking out, ones on LSD. Bedlam to doors to escape. I was LSD too, I heard the best music in my life at that time. 17 OR 18 years old. Seen them twice. An even better tune is "LOVE, PEACE & HAPPINESS".
Takes you on there trip!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Excellent reaction falling off the chair that’s how I felt
Iconic song for sure
This is absolutely insane! I know the song but ive never seen this performance. It's out of this f*#@ing world. I'm so glad I stopped tripping decades ago bc this right here might totally freak me out!!!! I love it sober!
The response to "more cowbell please."
This got daytime radio play, back in the day. Mind blowing!
Not witchcraft, pure talent. Iconic.
Dude, skin tone has nothing to do with great music. 54 year old white man here that loves this phenomenal tune
Glad you Young Brothers are discovering this....... Amazing Classic!! The blueprint for Parliament/ Funkadelic
Awesome choice…what a time to be alive
One of the greatest of the psychedelic classics. Thanks again man!
Thanks for doing this one man,,gotta try the studio version got an extra kick to it,,Rolling Stones 2000 light years from home,is another great psychedelic track,if your still on that train
I always wanted to ask Prince, what his reaction was, hearing this for the first time but never got the chance 👍🏾
I wonder if this is where Pink Floyd got the idea for Careful With That Ax Eugene?
That was so great 👍
I saw them do this live with the Alman Brothers. Long long ago. Ive been to see amost 60s to80s bands live. Seen so many. But the Chambers Bros. Blew the roof off. Best cowbell too. I still count it as one of the best. Outstanding performance in the 70s. Great song
Well said!
Time has come today.
I'm black and I love and play all kinds of music.
You're only limited to your exposure.
That goes both and all ways.
Music is a world within itself
With a language we all understand.
A big song back then . Around the time of BALL OF CONFUSION by the Temps .
Thanks I never saw a live version of this song listen to the long studio version they did things they couldn't do live. Don't listen the short radio version
I heard this when it came out and went out and bought the album
If you want a spiritual journey listen to heilung
I have never heard this live extended version, really cool! The Classic Rock station in Seattle would always play the full length of long tracks, one of their great claims to fame! This was nice, thanks!
That was close only party. These happened in my days. Clubs closed for private parties. LA in the 1960s, rent one, there are hot ladies, bowls of joints, dishes of Coke. New artist do their thing. Dwight Yoakam partied with the Chambers and others. Good Time's.
Time to get home and crank this incredible mind altering experience of a tune!
I was a senior in high school when this song aired on AM radio and it blew me away. I loved it then and love it today. The Chamber Bros were heavy and swinging. That band kicked!!
You're going to have to listen to the original recorded version for this. Whether a video or offline. You can't miss out on this classic recording
This song featured heavily in the 1978 movie ‘Coming Home’. The scene where broken Vietnam vet, played by Bruce Dern, strips and walks to his death into the ocean with ‘Time’ screaming in the background - well, it was a defining moment for the times. Great movie, great song.
Very cool !
Be proud, sir. You have given the best interpretation I can imagine to perhaps the greatest song ever. "Spiritual," "into a void" -- yes, because this song is literally THE END OF TIME -- it is the soundtrack of the apocalypse. "I have no home" -- well, when the earth is being destroyed (with the wailing of the citizens throughout and some kind of Power above laughing basso profundo at the pitiless spectacle), there is "no place to run." The cowbell is the heartbeat of the world, finally silenced. Be glad you could go outside for air afterwards, that this was not the real thing -- and thank you for sharing your intelligence into this most challenging of songs.
My parents turned me on to this tune, what a great experience it was I just got totally into it. Such great music I will never forget.
His voice
OMG I am back at the Minds Eye on Austin Hwy. I loved & still love them!!
Love this great old song; lotta cowbell! Here's a couple more requests: The band War doing "Slippin' Into Darkness" and The Persuasions (acapella group) doing "People Get Ready." Thanks, Pope!
I bought the single of "Time Has Come Today" back in '68 and it had the Chambers' version of "People Get Ready" on the flip side. The Brothers' is still my favorite version of Curtis' classic. Maybe Pope'll do a battle of the bands video on different versions of "People Get Ready". "You don't need no baggage, you just get on board!"
The 'Zamrock' musical movement of the 1970's is ALL black psychedelic bands.
Back in the day we would only listen to radio stations that carried the extended ccpversion. Most stations only carried it til they started going quiet. The y were contemporary with early Pink Floyd. If you hacpvent seen the early Floyd “Echoes” Live in Pompeii, you should. Another suggestion is “Ball and Chain” by Janis Joplin “the queen of rock and roll”
You just experienced the vib of the late 1960's Vietnam generation revolution
That was great, I've always loved this song but only heard the radio version. I had no idea the band was black so I guess you learn something every day.
You really should do the studio version! ua-cam.com/video/hIqwzQ7g-Cc/v-deo.html The sole white guy was Brian Keenan and was 21 and a British rock drummer when he joined. He died at age 42 in 1985.The Chambers Brothers who were from Mississippi and did gospel music mostly. Clive Dave who ran Columbia Records FORBID them to record this after hearing a demo. He told them "black guys don't do this kind of shit". The band had a lot of friends at Columbia's studios in NY, and when an hour came up that wasn't booked they rushed to the studio and did this extended version in ONE TAKE! When finished they played with it a bit with some reverb but no retakes or overdubs etc. I know you're a young man, but ask any Vietnam era veteran if he ever heard this over there. Bet you can't find one. Good audio equipment was cheap and shotgun barrels made good bongs ;-) Kind of enhanced the experience. It's a timeless anthem and a classic!
This really was the anthem of my youth, starting to come of age in the late sixties. This song was quite the experience on acid. The Chambers Bros had such an incredible live show. They outshone everybody at the first Quaker City rock festival. Buddy Guy, Mobs Grape, Vanilla Fudge and Janis with Big Brother.
Used to watch them in Winterland or Fillmore West stoned on LSD what an experience you haven`t heard this song the way it was meant to be heard. Later versions lose some things but add others both excellant.
Filmore West an the Blue Law were the places to be👁️🙏🏽👍🏾
Classic iconic tune. I wonder if these guys ever tried acid? 😝 You might also like the 13th Floor Elevators. There is so much great psych, popular and underground. It was like jazz. It influenced everything. Yea, it truly wins the best use of cowbell award too.
At age 14, I taped this from my parents' tv set using a microphone and my cassette recorder. This was public German television in 1969! What is still amazing me, we took it for granted that music had to be like this and we were waiting for the next bands to appear, like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Fleetwood Mac and so many others, many of whom I would find really boring a few years later. What an incredible time that was.
This song and Something In The Air by Thunderclap & Newman personify the the 60s for me.
This song captures the 60s.
Check out their studio version of Can't turn you loose." Raw powerful soul groove not to be missed!
by the Chambers Bros. or Otis Redding?
The realm that was the 1960's. Your mind has been psycadellicized! Loved your reaction. Priceless!
Listen " Pale Blue Eyes".
It's not a different realm ,,, it was the 60's. 😅😅😅😅 If you want to experience more, listen to Ina Gadda Da Vida by Iron Butterfly.
Great reaction POPE. You really need to drop a tab of Sylvester to appreciate the effect this song was trying to achieve.
Thank you for the good music out the 60ies from Germany; this war the Beat-Era and Love and Peace all time and many Hippies and Psychadelic-sound.
Next reaction for you with The Chamber Brothers are "All Strung Out Over You" .... "Wade In the Water"....."People Get Ready"
And the Persuasions doing "People Get Ready" (acapella).
@@marymargaretmoore9034👍🏾
If you wanna hear some great cow bellin', you really should give House of Jealous Lovers by The Rapture a try. That guy is relentless. Been loving your reactions. Keep up the good work!
Greatest rock and roll ending of all TIME. Chambers bros were amazing.
I think we need more cowbell
The Chambers Brothers could play some super mean funk too. Check out "Funky" and "Uptown to Harlem" for a taste. And if it's cowbell you want to hear, check out some of these tunes -- The Rolling Stones "Honky Tonk Women", Aretha Franklin "Rock Steady", Pink Floyd "Pigs (Three Different Ones)", Labelle "Lady Marmalade", Electric Light Orchestra "Evil Woman", Blue Öyster Cult "Don't Fear The Reaper", War "Low Rider", David Bowie "Diamond Dogs", Jethro Tull "Cross-Eyed Mary", Mountain "Mississippi Queen", Nazareth "Hair of the Dog", Kiss "Calling Dr. Love" ...
This is why us geezers are like we are..😃😬
I saw these guys live in '76 - still rockin the house.
Five of the brothers were arrested and convicted of selling cocaine. But they all got out.
You okay Pope? 😆 That was bad ass, never saw this live version 👍💜
I like your Stealie
@@marymargaretmoore9034 Thank you Mary💜
The Album Oriented Rock stations in Dallas played this decades ago, and I still love it!!
My absolute fav 60’s song about boys going to war!! It’s awesome!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great tune, man! It's fun watching young cats like you discover this music for the first time. It's like rediscovering it ourselves even though I first heard this song 50 years ago!
exactly what the band said at the end of the song.."outa sight"
Please check out the studio long version. The sound is so much better.✌️

Hey Pope!! Great reaction! Is there any way you can give us another Dream Theater reaction? Please react to This Dying Soul (studio version) from the album Train Of Thought . I guarantee you this prog metal epic masterpiece will leave you speechless!! By the way, This Dying Soul is part 2 of the Alcoholics Anonymous suite. Part 1 is The Glass Prison which you already reacted to. Part 3 is The Root of All Evil, part 4 is Repentance, and part 5 is The Shattered Fortress. They're all incredible prog metal masterpieces.
They stopped time twice.
Keep the Four Tops/Temptations,
this is more my speed......m
be trippin' ...
