  • Scratching your eye is the worst! The pain can be debilitating and you end up being severely limited in what you can comfortably do until it heals.
Dr. Lillie's daughter had this happen to her and shares what you can do at home to help as well as what tools we have in office to help it heal as quickly as possible! The first step is to ALWAYS call your eye doctor! There are things we can do to make it less painful the quicker we get going on it. In the meantime, here are some things you can do at home:
    ⭐️ Home Treatments ⭐️
    1. Manage pain with Tylenol and/or Ibuprofen
    2. Wear sunglasses to help with light sensitivity
    3. Use a TON of artificial tears (we recommend preservative free)! 👉 bit.ly/3PkhOX3
    ⭐️In-Office Treatments⭐️
    1. Amniotic membrane
    2. Bandage Contact Lens
    3. Eye Drops: dilation and antibiotics
My goal is to enhance your overall quality of life by improving and preserving your current level of vision, preventing blindness and promoting your best ocular health.

@@familyvisionoptical Yaaaaaaaaas it is. Funny thing tho… when I do a plan video from my car on my phone 📱 my views go up ⬆️ lol 😂 crazy. Maybe it’s because of the channel topic and feels more like a blog. But yes 🙌 and I will do a video with the level of quality you bring. At least I will try!

I've had a badly scratched cornea caused by dry eye. I've had it for months. My optometrist recommended non preservative eye drops for day use and Systane Eye Gel at night before bed. It hasn't helped much. Just talked to my GP. She has prescribed an anti biotic eye drop and told me to patch the eye so it will heal. I've been doing what the optometrist said to do for 3 months so I am going to do what my GP suggests and patch the eye.

No eye doctor available in my area before MONTHS the ER can’t do anything and my family doctor says he’s not equipped to help me either and won’t prescribe an antibiotic. I accidentally poked my eye with a snake plant and I’m on day 2 and it’s hell on earth I’ve never had such excruciating pain and no one will help. I’m losing my mind. The drops seem to do worse in my case and I can’t help blinking my eye won’t stay shut or open.

Yikes! Yes, make sure you use a ton of artificial tears (preservative free if possible), wear sunglasses, and manage the pain. If it doesn’t seem to be improving very fast, get in to see your eye doctor to make sure there’s not an infection.

I fell it has a distinct red dot. No vision problems, no sensitivity no pain other than it feels slightly bruised. Tried Red drops but I heard this is bad for it.

Never recommend drops that "get the red out" long term they can cause more harm than good.

Thanks for this information. I have 3 days of a scratched cornea issue caused by a foreign body during a high wind day. I'm familiar with the treatments as I used to work as an auto tech under cars and trucks, using cutting torches and welding and made a few trips to eye specialist who did the dye, numbing agent with an eye scope to diagnose and remove the particle and Rx antibiotic drops and a patch. There wasn't a contact lens bandage thing back then so I will inquire about that. Thanks again for this video. Liked and subbed for more info as my eyes are aging, need reading glasses and want to know about options.

Definitely consult you Optometrist, but I would guess: ua-cam.com/video/6EAIL2WEj5k/v-deo.html could be helpful.

That is awful! Make sure to use lots of artificial tears and get in to see your eye doctor to make sure antibiotics aren’t needed to prevent infection. Best of luck!
