The other cooo thing about the tape is you can just ball up all the sharp bits w/o touching them & throw them into the trash. It's safer for everyone down the line as well, the person in your house who takes the trash out, the garbage collectors, etc. Sure which I had a drill press. I want to recycle a broken piece of dishware into a plant pot and am going to TRY to use a vise to hold it while I drill. Let's hope I don't drill myself or any of the other living creatures in my house in the process. 🏥 Thanks for the great video!
Samuel, what kind of machinery do I need? What's an inexpensive setup for a bench drill machine, and do you have a link for the diamond drill bits that would fire into it?
thank you. now can you post a video on how to find the center of the plate? your plates decoration helped easily find the center. my plates have a random roses and leaves pattern. PS I bought a set of drill bits just like yours on eBay, got a set of 10 for $6.00 with free shipping.
Put the plate upside down on paper, draw an outline of the plate, cut it out, fold it in half, then in half again (into quarters) snip off the tip, open, lay on plate, that snipped off piece should be direct center. Mark it, then eyeball it for correctness....
Do you have a link to that drill bit please, as I've done exactly as you have, pillar drill on 600, duct taped the bottom, plenty of water and the plate is hardly scratched after 5 minutes. I think our lass may have bough expensive copies of the drill you have.
I love your accent! Planning on doing this with my mother and grandmother's plates for my daughter's wedding shower. Thank you
You, Sir, make an excellent teacher. Thanks for posting this video, it was exactly what I was looking to find.
Thanks for posting. Worked a treat, drilled twenty plates without a problem.
Drill my plates please.
I used your method today, and it worked perfectly. Thank you so very much for posting this video!!!
Where can I get this diamond bit and what size?
@@grandma2maj Amazon -- type in "6mm diamond coated drill bit". Uxcell sells 20 for less than $12.
Excellent explanation. Love the tape trick--other videos talk about all the chips and bits to watch out for, and that piece of tape solves it!
Been looking for a tutorial rial for how to do this with the plates I have already. Thank you!!
Very helpful, love his sense of humor ! 😉
Thanks for bothering to posting this...worked perfectly.

Thank you. Very clear and helpful.
What if my husband only has a hand drill? Will this work also?

Yeah...I love that...not for me, it's for the wife.
I laughed, too. And it didn't sound "planned", either! I wonder if he's a hoot!

Where can I find the bit you used?
So, this is a drill press? What kind of bit is this?
Would be helpful to use an anti slip mat under the plate, to stop it from moving.
