    Couple tips:
    - Open order selection when a trader is in base with you. This lets you examine new timed orders while paused and see if the trader can help you provide any of the requirements.
    - Any time you can do it without causing a race to drop negative see if you can favor someone and push them into blue resolve. Since resolve gain is based on population, choose the highest population race that can go blue, even pushing a lower population race out of blue to blue up a better one.
    - You can use consumption control to turn off complex food eating on races that don't benefit (no + value for that type) from them to keep the complex foods from being wasted on the wrong people. Be careful about doing this if you don't have alternatives for them to eat.
    - If you ever need to use sacrifice to maintain positive resolve, don't just turn it on and ignore it. Toggle it on for just long enough to push resolve up, then turn it off so it drops. Repeating this process can cut your necessary sacrifice by about half. Also remember that you've got the time it takes for someone to leave which you can use as a storm buffer as well, but realize that this buffer won't reset until the next storm once used (flicking resolve +/- repeatedly doesn't restart the leave buffer).

    I feel like the safest early choices for initial drafts are: A) Any kind of farm; you're basically always going to want to make use of one. B)Logging Mill, Carpenter, Kiln; you're going to have access to logs every map and use planks more than bricks or fabric and coal is way better to burn than wood. C)rain mill or provisioner; you're going to probably want flower every run and you can make better use of the traders by making either the building materials crates or the provisioners packs for trade routes.
    You may as well wait to go for a bakery/cookery until you have secured a way to make flower or buy a bunch.

      @KevinK-s3g 9 місяців тому +2

      Agree with all except with (C) I'd add it does depend somewhat on the racial composition. For example if you have the 3 that eat pickled goods then it's much better to focus on that over the rain mill in the early game. Also some biomes don't have much fertile soil, in those biomes farming might be hard to pull off

      @@KevinK-s3g I agree, actually, once you get to level 10 and unlock foxes, flour is much more situationally good, but for beginners I would definitely recommend going for flour since every race except foxes likes at least one type of complex food that uses it.

    I play to complete orders, as in i sorta plan my entire settlement around the orders I take. Why is that wrong? Because i am struggling a bit but i just don't see how i can't be hyper focused on them. Early game they can give me much needed workers, extremely valuable resources for glade events, and all types of production bonuses. It just doesn't seem like something i could ever just side eye every so often until my settlement is "ready" to do them.

    • @Ic0nGaming
      @Ic0nGaming  9 місяців тому +1

      I usually end my runs with 2-3 orders unfulfilled and get the rest of my points via other sources. I found my build not flexible enough if I only focused around orders. That's all. I mean if it works, you obviously have a point there. It just means mainly I suck at playing this way ^^

    God the building RNG kills me some times. I currently get four options and still get rolls where it is almost nothing but end game buildings. My last few games had me still using the crude work station to make at least one of the basic materials until the end. Then there is having lots of fertile fields and not being able to roll any of the farms. When I do it seems to be that one that makes resin and rain bricks.
    If nothing else I wish the roll window would show you what resources the map had and/or at least what you are currently producing. Maybe a filter to highlight the buildings that use certain resources. For instance, in my last game I was producing tons of fiber. It would be nice if I could select fiber and the buildings in the roll that use fiber would highlight.

      Have been playing since 1.0 release, honestly the crude workstations aren't too bad even late game. You just need to stack more of them at the same time. There are also perks that make crude workstation worth it (like +1/+3/+5 planks) so it's not like you're missing out tooo much. I'm only on P18 but not sure if that will change that much between that and P20 (other than needing to be more careful with sacrifices / villagers).

    • @ethanol111
      @ethanol111 Рік тому +2

      No harm, I like to open them when i open my first dangerous glade though as you can synchronise all your orders and blueprints with what is inside it. Just try and secure a cloth, brick stone plank setup while you are working towards it. I like to rush that glade also you can setup your comlpex food forward plan from it. There's so many ways to play to be honest and as you get to higher difficulty and prestige it can challenge you much better mentally.

      the only harm would be getting a timed order with great rewards that you won't be able to do yet

    • @Estafreak
      @Estafreak Рік тому +1

      Timed orders and forcing direction based off orders and buildings is making the game more difficult for yourself, though depends on how you look at it. Getting direction for your first 3 buildings and orders based off your first few glades small or dangerous. Makes it nearly impossible to have picked a bad building or overlapping production. Then again i still force myself to open them before drizzle year 2

    • @caltheuntitled8021

      If you haven’t unlocked timed orders yet, there’s no harm. If you have, the downside is that you might be offered a timed order that you aren’t able to do at that time, but could have done if you waited to open it.

      You may also get stuck on an order, which you cannot fulfill, because you get unlucky with blueprint rolls.

  • @nikzel
    @nikzel 10 місяців тому +1

    Prestige 17 here, most of these I figured out by trial and error. But I did learn something: your first tip or resetting maps. I'll add that you can also reset blueprint choices by Alt+F4 at the start of the game. It seems the game autosaves at intervals, so the game resets. Also on the topic of paths: if you're cutting through forests in multiple locations, don't add single pieces of road here and there, the order that you place them is the order they will be built. So your worker will run back and forth if you try to build multiple roads incrementally. Better to build entire segments at once, from your base outwards.

    • @Ic0nGaming

      @@edopronk1303 Yeah, Blightrot even was a voluntary thing when I made that video. Nowadays you need to work towards the Blight Station on Year 3, cause that's when you will get your guaranteed Blightrot hit. 10 Fuel are enough for the first blow. After that I try to maintain 20-30 fuel at all times and finished most of my runs with 1 Blight Station. This works nicely as long as you don't use Rainpunk. I don't have used Rainpunk too much (smh never liked the micro behind it / have to learn my way around it still) so I cannot give good hints here.
