I worked as a garnish chef for a time. One of my tasks was to carefully chop chives which was an art in and of itself requiring a very sharp knife to prevent bruising. I took pride in nice cleanly cut chives that weren't smashed flat rather remained circular in shape. Lol The short story is that I learned to appreciate a good quality chef knife. I put everything I learned into the design of this knife. I'm so glad to know that you appreciate many of the aspects that I was so particular about 👍😎
@@russellpresley6372 sorry Russell. I didn't see this comment till just now. Either way we do not take phone orders on the weekend. However we do have one or two of the seconds left if you wanted to call today.
Glad I found this , I just ordered the pan set , knife and cutting board . The set looks like a great piece of kit lighter than cast iron but similar properties . The knife looks like the perfect size and it folds . Good well made videos sir
I don’t know how I lived without it but my wire reminded me that I used to take her small chef knife out of the kitchen when I went camping. Not anymore! Thank you for watching, Cheers!
I bought my Firebook Stove knife at the time I bought my everything freestyle on kickstart. I have used my Bushcraft knife in the past which is a terrible kitchen prep knife? Then I started using a Opinel knife No. 10, which works well with smaller vegetables, like green beans, mushrooms, and such. But when it comes to cutting vegetables like tomatoes, onions, potatoes as well as meat and chicken… The FBS knife works so much better.
Thanks for this demo - what an attractive folding chef knife! I think the blade is easy enough to maintain - wash and dry after use and maybe put a coat of food grade knife oil on it from time to time. However, the steels liners may be harder to clean and dry - what do you do regarding the vegetable and meat juices or the water from washing the knife that get between the liners and scales? Are those a worry at all as far as corrosion of the liners is concerned ? Thanks.
I have had this knife for only a few months and had no issues with the liners. Then I again, I clean and dry it after use. Its a well made knife. Hope this helps, cheers!
It’s works great, the locking gap issue is so minute, fractions of mm. It was not noticeable at anytime. I would buy more factory seconds if they offer it. It was a great buy for me, 60% off original price! Add it to you cart! lol Cheers!
Hello Thake you for the helpful video . I don't understand the deferent between Grade A & Factory Seconds can I find video or pic to see . I ask the company and I don't understand this mean(The factory seconds lock-open mechanism is just a tad loose - meaning when the knife is locked open there is a very small amount of "play" which does not affect its use or function considering its intended purpose).
When you open and unfold the knife, it will lock into position. There is NO safety issue with the knife accidentally unlocking or unfolding on its own. The issue is a manufacturing gap when locked in the unfolded position. So when the knife is unfolded and locked, you may feel a little gap/play/wiggle when you move the blade up and down. From my experience with this knife, I can't feel that defect. It's so minute its negligible. Hope this helps, Cheers!
Most quality knives are $$$ unfortunately. The good part is that Firebox is known for heavy discounts during holidays or when a new product is released. If you want to get one on a steal, sign up on fireboxstove.com for their newsletters on these events. Know that they don’t spam your inbox and thats how I get my stuff, lol... Cheers!
I have a few knives that I once used for camping but prefer a folded knife for safety. I’m clumsy and have dropped knives on my foot before, lol. Thanks for watching, cheers!
I would agree 100% I’m terrible at audio. Happy to report that my kids got me a Blue Yeti Nano for Christmas, let me know if it’s still horrible. Thanks again, Cheers!
You are 100% correct, an opinel will do just as good, a sharp rock would also do just as good if that’s what you are accustomed to. The point of this video was to explain why I PURCHASED this product. Thanks for watching, cheers!

Do you take phone orders over the weekend.
People who work in the food industry are a different breed of human. I’ve been doing it for over 20 years!😆
Its very hard to miss the great features of this knife. Very happy to have purchased one. Thanks again, Cheers!

Good job Steve, I didn’t realize the background to this product. I’m enjoying mine too.

It's an excellent knife, I wouldn't be without mine when I go camping and I intend to do some proper cooking.

I use my knives for a lot of food prep every day. It is nice to see a knife that drops below your fingers. Nice video!
I agree 100% and my fingers are thankful. Thanks for watching! Cheers!
So glad I ordered one.
I love mine! Congrats! If you got the Lansky sharpener along with it, use the 20 degree angle. Cheers!
Thanks, I love that knife! Thanks for the measurements in centimeters!
Have a good day!
I listen well but have a bad memory. I remembered this time though, lol Cheers!
Great demonstration! I just ordered mine (on backorder). Can't wait to get it!
It’s been a great tool in my kit! Thanks for watching, cheers!

Awesome feedback! I’m going to putting through its paces in my upcoming videos, thanks again for watching! Cheers!
When I saw title of this video, I was like "Man, I don't even have a proper chef knife at home..." :D
I got my first home chef knife as a gift. I think you should gift yourself one. Cheers!

*shaking my head* thanks for watching, cheers!
Looks like it works well for a factory seconds. I guess it's not a problem?

Also, the grade A does not have this defect.
The quick solution is to use the Japanese style of cutting. The pull cut
Thank you for the suggestion! I know exactly what you are talking about, I have to consciously remember to use that method, cheers!
Picked up one two unfortunately at full price. But do like the knife though works well
Thanks for watching! Maybe you get the deal on the next item. Cheers!
It's a cool knife, I just don't think it's $60 cool.

Why are you prepping green potatoes 🤢
lol, good eye. COVID supply chain issues in the area was the reason, produce was a little young when it hit the grocery stores.
If you are going car camping, just buy an ordinary chef knife.

Horrible audio
I would agree 100% I’m terrible at audio. Happy to report that my kids got me a Blue Yeti Nano for Christmas, let me know if it’s still horrible. Thanks again, Cheers!
😂😂.. A cheap opinel will do just as good... Spare us your cheap salesman diatribe....
