Your good man Dennis,my S100 is now up and running with CHDK. My quad will be done soon and looking forward to getting some nice coastal shoots of were I live.
Phil G So good to hear that! If you do get some good shots please share them with us at www.garagepilots.com So happy this helped and best of luck getting in the air!
my canon powershot sd600 appears to freeze after trying to load CHDK onto it. the screen turns black and nothing else. it says its compatible though. is it too old?
mate thanks been racking my head how to get this to work and it works on my sx620HS adding in that time lapse that really should be in the operating system of the original. So useful as I love TL while back packing and my dji pocket or gopro are good but the zoom really makes the difference so happy adventure racer now thanks !!
Dennis, I had downloaded the CHDK for my canon sx260hs, but when i turn on the camera with the CHDK files in the SD, pressing the play button, there isn't any option to "update firmware". Can you help please?
Binesh Maharjan Make sure you follow these steps: chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Prepare_your_SD_card and note the section that says: "Note that for this method to work, there must now be a file called either ps.fi2 or ps.fir in the root directory of the card." Good luck and hope this helps
Hi Dennis, and tks again for this great simple tutorial, much helpful. I am anticipating to trigger the Canon with distance from Pxhawk, and was wondering which script you would recommend please for a Turnigy LED switch setup cable type (like the one you made for the TX trigger switch, but powered with a 5V BEC, directly and just hooking the signal wire to the Pixhawk) relay AUX output.... Cheers and Safe Flying!
hi Dennis, this week I did my first mapping mission,I was impressed by the result even if the phooto quality was not that great.can you pllease tell me which canon camera you use nowadays for mapping?( chdk compatible)"greetings from Paris"
Connor Mullan Yeah generally it's for Canon cameras but they do have a forum that talks about non-Canon cameras that others are trying to hack: chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?board=37.0
pietrangelo Giordano Have you downloaded the right CHDK version from here: chdk.wikia.com/wiki/SX270_/_SX280 I'm not sure what problems you're having but if you want help please post in the forums at www.garagepilots.com and hopefully we can help you out. Good luck.
+Dennis Baldwin Hello, been looking at a second hand SX280HS. I see there is "limited support" for this model on CHDK, Im just unsure whats not available. Have you managed to get CHDK working and using a intervalometer? Your help is greatly appreciated before I buy it!
I could NOT figure out how to get this camera into ALT mode. Thank you so much. Its not in the manual for my camera (very similar a2300) and everyone assumes you know how to do it.
Thanks for posting this. I have been using CHDK on a Canon A-720IS for a couple of years. The Elph 130 is only $89 and I figure it will be a good "shirtpocket" camera for times when I don't want to carry my DSLR. I'm glad you put the note in your video that the 1.0a version of CHDK also works on the 1.0b firmware. CHDK is very finicky in that it's program pointers to memory addresses in the camera have to be perfect, or the camera could freeze. In my experience with CHDK on a couple of different Powershot models, it is unusual that a firmware version update in the camera will still work with a previous version of CHDK. How do you like the 130? Is the image quality reasonably good?
I really like the 130 so far. I'll work on posting some sample photos if you're interested. I also have a SX260 w/ built-in GPS but man it's way heavier and sometimes the GPS loses signal given it's covered in the cockpit of my UAV. Regarding your question about CHDK compatibility with newer camera firmware I've had good results so far, but that's only with two cameras. I can't imagine how much of a pain it is for the CHDK community to keep up with all the different Canon models and firmware versions, but I'm glad they do!
My first choice would be the new Elph 340HS, for the 12x lens and CMOS instead of CCD sensor. But there is no CHDK for it yet. Someone managed to dump the firmware and it is available for download, but in fact none of the 4 Elph models that use DIGIC 4+ have a CHDK build available yet. This makes me wonder if there is something unusual about DIGIC 4+ that makes it incompatible with CHDK. The 130 is my second choice. I wish there was some way that I could find out if a port of CHDK to the 340HS is in active development, and if the developer feels that there is a good chance of success. I'd rather buy the 340 even though it's twice the retail price of the 130.
I discovered this a couple of years ago and have been using it to enhance my camera...and recently on my fixed wings to capture orthoimages. You may have seen this already, but you can use a 5 volt switch (or input from your Rx) to trigger an on/off on your scripts. Thanks for sharing! chdk.wikia.com/wiki/USB_Remote
That's awesome. CHDK is amazing and I appreciate you sharing that link. I had seen it before but didn't dive into the details. Very cool. BTW, what camera are you shooting photos with? Do you have any special software to process and do stitching? Thanks for watching and commenting.
Dennis Baldwin If your just processing a few images, Photoshop and Microsoft's ICE work well, but for a large amount of photos at high res it becomes a little more difficult. In the past I was using some python scripts, but I found this recently and I really like it www.di.ens.fr/cmvs/. If you search around, you should be able to find tutorials to help you get started.
Hard to believe 10 years has gone by. Where did all that time go?
I found my camera in the list from your video. You saved me the trouble

Glad to hear from you. I use the S100 or S110. Keep us posted on your progress.
sounds like a stupid question but does it only work on a canon camera? will it work for any camera?
Connor Mullan Yeah generally it's for Canon cameras but they do have a forum that talks about non-Canon cameras that others are trying to hack:
chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?board=37.0
seems my camera isnt on it, I think its less hassle just to sell my camera and find a decent canon one haha. Thanks for the help... again!

Is there any way to turn on the red eye lamp when shutter open?
P. Augusto I haven't figured out how to do that, but will continue to look. Good question.
sadly the elph 180 isnt supported
Sorry to hear that. i had to upgrade my camera to get CHDK support.
Looks good to me.
Thanks for watching, Larry!
