2016-2023 Gen Tacoma was very disappointing. After waiting out the 2005-2015 Gen Tacoma, bought a brand new 2016 TRD Sport crew cab 4x4 in Dec 2015 and sold it after 15 month. Engine/transmission did not work together at all and it down shifted all the time. Not sure exactly where all those 270+ horses were in that truck! Looing forward to see how the new TRD sport shifts and drives. If I end up buying a 2024 Tacoma, the first thing I would do is to remove that ugly overpowering lower air dam. They couldn't make it stand out any worse if they tried. Will look to see what they have done for the TRD offroad and will buy that trim and put it on.

If turbos 4 cylinders were so great in the 80s, why did they ever go away and come out with V6s? I don't need the complexity of the turbo/hybrid truck, or the $50k price tag

Turbo engines are now capable of making large amounts of torque at low RPMs. Turbos never went away, they were more exotic and pricey and it was a hip sales pitch. I’m sure you were told before you received this tester model that it is a PRE-production unit. All finishes are not representative of what the actual production vehicle is, but you still brought up the unfinished door panel wearing? Interesting
Literally , every other review video on these trucks stated the plastic on the doir panels is pre- production only and that aur dam is made to be removed easily .
You could also remove the roof and make it a convertible...but. It's important to know that aerodynamics, engine cooling and MPGs wil all be affected if removed.
@ 3:30 you had the passenger seat fwd, why wasn’t it set to say your seating position first? Almost like you are trying to make something look better then it really is. Also no mention of the lack of air vents in the back, pretty sad for a 2024 new model. Seems a bit biased to me…
They have a new engine, but all the video's including this one really don't want to speak about it. Talk about trim, plastic, brakes, and suspension, but when you don't talk about the engine that's never good. Seems like a test year to me. 4 cylinder only? Then you have to put turbo inside it yo get any power. Why not stay with 6. Turbo equals more heat, more friction, and we all know what that does to an engine and parts.
Oh yeah a 4 cylinder with a turbo and a little back door window and ugly lines like a Hyundai and big ass plastic splitter. Nah I haven’t been waiting on that.
I will chose my trusty V6 2023 Tacoma trd pro over these new Turbo 4 cylinder hybrid Tacomas. I do not trust 4 cylinder turbo and believe reliability is gone here. No longer will these trucks last 300k miles like our v6 did. I like the looks of the third gen better as well
Beside the reliable V6 the new gen will be day and night compare to the 3rd gen. The way it drives, shifts, interior and exterior there is no comparison. I had a Sport DCLB before and sold it after 2 years. Horrible MPG and shifts like a slug.
@@appleztooranges yes I know that. It was horrible for me at 15-16 city, barely 20 highway and I could live with that. The worst part is the interior sitting position, the way it handles and shifts. An overall dinosaur. I am not crapping on it, just telling everyone my experience.
I like that Toyota has taken so long to update their truck lineup that they are just now starting to use the "protruding tablet" when almost every other manufacturer has already done that and is now moving back to screens integrated into the dash. My understanding from other videos is that the glossy plastic in the interiors is only on the pre-production models
Hard to believe the Toyota rep didn’t tell him that.
