- What I have here is a balloon filled with oxygen and hydrogen, and I'm gonna light it on fire - WARNING: Mixtures of oxygen and hydrogen gas are explosive and extremely dangerous. This experiment was performed in a controlled environment. Please don't recreate what I do!

Water is a byproduct of Hydrogen fuel cells. The problem is the catalyst metals like platinum needed for the reaction is really expensive.

I once attended a lecture by Bassam Shakashiri in which he did this (and a lot of other chemistry demonstrations). It was in the college theatre, and it shook the entire fine arts building. We later found out there were people in the "soundproof" instrument practice rooms in the other wing of the building saying "what the heck was that?"

The chemistry professor did this in the lecture hall at the college I was attending back in the 1970's. He let the balloons float to the ceiling ("not near the lights") and ignited them with a candle taped to a fishing pole. "This is my fishin' pole experiment!"

Just in case you didn't know, hydrogen bombs (also called thermonuclear bombs) work by reproducing the fusion reaction that powers the Sun. Oxygen + Hydrogen is still quite a powerful mixture, which is used as rocket fuel.

My uncle is a welder we did this in Florida during 4th of July , mixed acetylene gas with oxygen made a pretty huge ballon , turned night to day for a couple of seconds also blew my hair back because of the force when it blew up that was awesome

In 2000, my junior year of high school, my chemistry teacher did this. He also had a balloon with pure oxygen. He lit it, nothing happened for about 2 seconds, and then the ceiling of the classroom started on fire for like .5 seconds. It was awesome. They dont have chemistry teachers like that now.
During my time in the military (staff vehicle repair technician) a colleague lid up a balloon of Argon gas (huge black smoke). I advise him to add also a lot of oxygen but added to do this best outside. He only followed the first portion of my advice and it blew out all the building's windows and even some doors. I saw him several months later again after getting out of jail.
