It pains my heart that these gothic architects created great structures and now unsustainable building maps are passed by bureaucrats and have made Shimla a concrete jungle. No building bye laws followed, no permissions to construct taken, no land surveys done prior to construction. Architects are a joke in Shimla. But nature has signalled again again to stop this non sense. A lesson there for all of us. There is still time to sit back and rethink where we are headed while we choke the resources and the beautiful city. It’s not a single person it’s in all of us as dwellers of the city to recalibrate.
Shimla should've remained a hill station while SunderNagar (geographically flat and central in location with no water scarcity) should've been made the capital of Himachal Pradesh.
It boils my blood watching the then British masters partying in our soil at the expense of the blood and sweat of our ancestors. Had the Marathas been as clever and competent as Clive, we wouldn't have to suffer the tragedy of British rule. I won't blame the Mughals as they were a small kingdom confined to Delhi in 1857. Atleast the British rule was better than Moghul anti-hindu rule.
Thanks for sharing these fascinating glimpses into the history of Shimla! It's truly incredible to see how Old Shimla looked during British India.
Wow!! Black and white super Simla!!
Thanks
Thanks for sending a nice olden days and gothic archtecture of the then well planned buildings in beautiful surroundings.
Beautifully compiled!!!
Shimla then and now, the one thing that never changes is the love and admiration for the place ❤
Simla for ever beloved.❤
Great
