The rating system is super clunky and over 40 trials it's hard to keep track of what I rated what. It would be probably better if you could find a way to do A - B testing over just pure ratings.
Sharur saved my life. I don’t know what I would do without him. He found me at rock bottom and now here I am: the ultimate audio listener. Thank you for doing us all a favor. Love, Everyone ❤
Excellent! The process was enjoyable, and the end result was very pleasing! I tested this with the Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro headphones. I also own the Neumann KH120 II speakers paired with a subwoofer, so my ears are accustomed to high-quality audio (if that’s relevant).
Please add a feature in the software to export the eq to wavelet as many use it to import from squiglink. I know it has some limitations but I would like to be able to switch between different IEMs and headphones with the preferred target from the software to make better purchase decision in the future.
Are you using or planning to use the results for a study on average listener preference? Will it be free in the future? My first results were pretty close to my preferred Target in the midrange and treble, but the Bass range results were meh after quickly going trough the tests. ~400-6kHz pretty much matching the Harman2018OE and SoundGuys Target, Treble right between both Targets. Bass is lower then i usually prefer and the 150Hz range got boosted and sounds a tad bit muddy now. (2dB below Harman, but I usually enjoy 0dB to +5dB depending on at home vs on my way) The resulting EQ is meh for me. I suspect that the EQ sounds not super good in the Treble cause of the measurement used to create the EQ. I used DMS measurement (4128-C) of the Fiio FT1 for my EQ and the results are way better in the treble for me.
FMSW, very pleasing results off the bat Gonna run it a couple more times with different headphones and IEMs while getting more accustomed to the tracks used but honestly impressed with the initial results.
I'm treble sensitive and I tried this on the ea 500lm which is an iem that i absolutely despised. To my surprise it actually tames the treble down without compromising the rest of the frequencies. I can finally listen to this iem now and I actually enjoy it. I didnt think that was possible. Thanks so much for this.
It would be useful if you could compare the resulting target to Harman or other preference targets (on the graph, and by audio as well). Also would greatly prefer having the ability to add my own songs. 😗
listener loved your app bro ! the result was bang on with his basslet taste that he needed to delete it on discord after discovering you're associated with this project lmaoooooo
this seems like a great tool, my only issue is the difficulty of adoption that this product might face people like ease of use, so this product is in quite a bit of a tough spot, since even if people knew about it, most people might not bother even trying it out, so you are gonna have quite a lot of difficulty with that. best of luck though
if the average consumer has no idea what sounds best, how would they be able to create their own eq based on listening. will the site offer presets after a lot of data is collected?
The average consumer has no idea what sounds best without listening to all the options. We provide the listener with many options for them to come to their own conclusions.
Very cool, only change I would make is have the songs in order as opposed to interspersed with the others so you can hear the difference between each sample better. I would also start each new song with a label saying "Unmodified" or "Un-EQd" or something along those lines for the first listen of the clip.
Sounds like an awesome idea, but there is no support for the Bose QC 45 or Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 Pro (only older versions), which are the only two headphones/earbuds I currently own
@@sharuraudio interesting, could've sworn one sample was a lot louder than the previous one also, the results are very pleasant, might redo it some other time!
@@bary450also i think also depending on the amount of pre amp the eq does is gonna sound with less volume, you are gonna have to amplified i feel like or turn up the volume more, that's why i dont like to boost frequencies too much.
An option to download a convulsion file would be nice. Unless there's a reason to not use convulsion files for eq. It sounds better. Is it more accurate sound reproduction, or is it just better sounding? Might be a retarded question, but I'd like to know. Also is a system wide -23 lufs normalizer effect desirable?
I see what you did here! As soon as you have enough samples, you can extrapolate an average listener profile for each headphone. And if that already would not be enough, from those datasets, you can compare with measurements of all these headphones and find very, very nice target curves for headphones that might rival Harman and such. Very good idea, this service you came up with. I would include a short survey to find trained listeners; that would make this even more powerful! Very cool indeed. But be careful-you should have more variety in song selection because otherwise, your target cannot be accurate. All music is mastered by humans and therefore always with a different target as well. Very stoked about where you are going with this! I think the name is only okay, though; it sounds too technical. If you want this to be a popular app or something, you should find something more casual. Good luck!! Also, as a mix engeneer, I would love a "pro" version with AB testing in the end to finetune the target, and a even more in depth testing in generall. I dont care if ir takes an hour, if it makes my working enviroment more linear im all in!!! : )
i hate rating scales. theyre too inconsistent and wishy washy. for example, one day you might think a movie is a 9/10 but another day you might think it is a 8/10. and how can you even discern the difference between 8/10 and 9/10? i agree with the other comment, i would prefer AB testing over rating the sound.
I don't know what to think, I've tried 3 times and all of them game me a bright EQ. All I did is to place bad score to bassy samples as I don't want boomy bass. Edit, ok not bright, but sparkly.
@@sharuraudioWill this know that I have a 16K peak in my ear that doesn't show up in the graph I specifically reduce? Also, you shouldn't use Shelf filters on iems, this doesn't know that too.
@@sharuraudio I think it's easier to take the test several times, such filters are certainly not suitable for moondrop variation. I don't think this program will make a preset better than what you did with vari
What?! It's an actual website. I thought this was making fun of the concept😅 What a horrible business idea. People don't know good sound so we'll have complete listening novices rate their way over an hour to find perfection🤣 99,3% of the target audience (pun intended) won't bother doing this. Of the 0,7% at least half will have unit variation that makes this not work overall and the rest have better ways of approaching this. To make it into an actual product you get a maximum of 5min of low effort participation and you can't rely much on measurements of other units.
When is your next "I Got Banned From ........" video? It's funny watching you cry about places you keep getting banned from. When's the next one? I loved the Can Jam one. That was funny. You're a great comedian 🤣
Our software is far superior and more advanced than Sonarworks's. For example, the bass and treble shelf frequency locations are fixed in Sonarworks's software to what Harman arbitrarily chose in "Listener Preferences for In-Room Loudspeaker and Headphone Target Responses" because Sonarworks themselves do not understand the various psychoacoustic factors at play nearly as well as us. This is clearly demonstrated in their SoundID Reference software for loudspeakers where the entire range is equalized using steady-state measurements.
