Even the best recording studios don’t have this much gear. Since they’re getting the perfect sound, why not spend money on studio monitors and an acoustically perfect room?
Dig those horns, but don't dig the insane price tags. A good DIY system could get you 90%+ of the performance at 5% of the cost. The whole "audiophile" market segment is a bunch of pretense, smoke and mirrors, coupled to overpricing.
Plenty of grey hair old timers, an almost naked young girl, a guy selling a million + system dressed like he just came from Costco and the other one dressed like he is ready to appear in a Disney movie, ah and no music. Must be a high end convention.
I am an audiophile. I highly recommend to own a power plant.Fuel kind depends of what kind of music you prefer. Im into the classic so west Virginia coal is perfect. My friend is hard rock fellow and build his own nuclear power plant-the effect is outstanding
At a certain price point, it doesn't make sense not to also have a complete custom built room or even building, because beyond say around 20k, it's a question of diminishing returns, and the room will have way more effect on the sound quality than any esoteric tweak or change to the gear.

The ESD Super Dragon is the most expensive comb filter I've ever seen, and also heard elsewhere on youtube. The listener has to be positioned on the point at infinity to get a coherent sound picture. But it is sure most beautiful to *look* at, no doubt about that.
This is how I felt when I was building my car system. Everything was planned from the subwoofer box to the 3 way. Everything was built with tuning in mind, from directional facing to port firing spl build. It's honestly really amazing what all goes into making a system sound really really good. Honestly a lot of the stuff wouldn't have made sense to me just a few years ago. It does take some time to wrap your head around the perfect system. Thanks for the video loved it. I have a lot more to learn thats for sure.
The infatuation with vinyl amazes me. Here, we have state-of-the-art systems utilizing vinyl media which is dramatically limited in terms of dynamic range and signal-to-noise ratio, as well as musical detail, when compared to digital sources. Yet, even wealthy audiophiles prefer vinyl. Utterly ridiculous.
@@AudiophileHighEndAudio I acknowledge that vinyl may "sound" good to some listeners but, in actuality, it isn't nearly as accurate a representation of the music. It can't possibly have the same punch, nuance and detail as a digital source because vinyl simply cannot contain as much musical information.
That would be pointless because you can't hear what the systems sound like through your device. It's literally impossible. So there's no point in that.
…and so, we are witness to 2 intriguing aspects. SCALE, AND TIME. The first is obvious to all with functioning vision. The man lives, and breathes his passion for the world’s greatest recorded performances. ( we certainly get that). 🌹 I will address TIME in a second posting.
Every one in Audio does its all about if you can pay 4 that and that dont work unless you have huge space and it will not play hip hop or metal n more only sounds good if you like horns with the dress on we know how he got around 😮😊
Having put different frequency speakers so far from each other as in 1st setup, would that be good for the sound scene perception? Or the focal point is 10 meters off?
I you understood how simplistic Class A amps are to build you would be banging on the Gryphon Manufacturer's owners door asking for a FULL Refund! LOL.
There are computer programs call Acoustic Ray Tracers that can map the waveform bounce and absorption characteristics of an entire room AND of the speakers emitting the sound using all frequencies from 5 Hz to 100 KHz in less than 10 minutes! It's basically the same type of raytracing techniques using in RGB lighting of video game environments but made for sound frequencies! Once you have your acoustic model, you can build your speakers to fit inside of a given room and direct the sound to specific seating locations in the room to best represent the most optimum soundstage for multiple music types and styles. Raytracing is now the ULTIMATE SCIENCE of high-end sound-reproduction technology. All done within a mere TEN MINUTES giving you a give visual 3D line-trace of all your sound waves from all speaker drivers and a spreadsheet-based mathematical model which you can put into the speaker cabinet design programs (i.e. CAD/CAM/FEA!) to make a set of speakers BEST FIT your specific room! Thanks for this Video. Of course no normal human can ever afford this. But its the same with cars. Do you need 700 hp. Of course not. But its nice to have them. What is the crossover slope? In general crossover is something we want to minimise and avoid. Every order introduces 90 degrees of phase shift between the upper and lower frequency bands. These are very hard to correct in analogue domain. But in recent years, possible to measure the impulse response from each driver and time align these together with phase correction. But not possible with analogue active or passive crossover. So much better to use very capable and linear drivers just to cover the 20hz to 20khz, then add uhf and subs to this 2-way system. The challenge is making these very capable drivers. Traditionally large format TAD and JBL compression drivers would be the more promising way to go for high end diy audio. Not sure why these systems are going down the opposite way... these many crossovers are just opening a whole lot of cans of worm of problems... 😅
Another important factor we need to consider when having crossover with drivers that are not physically aligned, is the comb filtering effect. Think of the scenario at the crossover frequency, you have two coherent waveform propagating forward. But there are from two different locations. Remember the constructive and destructive interference pattern this creates? This is why many high end audio companies trying to make coaxial units to ensure that the HF is on the same axis as LF. Like the Uni-Q on KEF, the TAD Reference One and even the latest JBL D2 D2430K dual diaphragm compression drivers. They are all applying the same concept of achieving coherent source.
