    IMPORTANT NOTE: One thing to be aware of is don't leave your Windows thumb drive attached to the computer when you are done with the install or if you have not installed Opencore yet as you can boot into Windows by mistake without the protection of OpenCore which can write Windows certificates to your bootrom which can brick your Mac. You want to make sure you are booting into Opencore before Windows loads or you can brick your Mac Pro. New video to follow on how to protect your Mac Pro from this happening so you don't need to worry about it.

    Thanks for your tips! I am also one of those who can't sleep when I don't get everything right on my MacPro 2009! At the moment everything running perfectly with 2 systems Big Sur and Sonoma.

    Hi brother! Glad you were finally able to do this! I had chatted with you quite a while back and explained that it was indeed possible becuz I had done it myself.. mac pro 5,1 using a single 500gb nvme with open core booting win 11 uefi install, sonoma,ventura monterey, calalina and high sierra all on that one drive..everything except win 11 is APFS which is why u can have so many mac systems using so little space..I notice you are creating a partition for Each mac OS..The beauty of APFS is that you can create multiple Containers which can be formatted and used for multiple mac systems.. these APFS containers Share space yet allow individual seperate installs.. The only time I create another Actual partition is when I am adding windows....... There are 2 Seperate dedicated efi partitions on my nvme, 1 for the mac OS systems and 1 for windows 11 uefi ...I do not use bootcamp...one part of the drive is apfs and the remainder is ntfs .each partition has its own efi...Zero issues with write certificates with the UEFI windows install becauz the windows installer does not have secureboot nor TPM ,its compatible with old computers like the mac pro and becuz there is no secureboot in it, there is nothing written to the bootrom...Ive checked, its clean and a non issue.. I forgot to mention: the win 11 installer I use is created with Rufus and the tpm and secureboot that are usually native are removed...

    • @MacSoundSolutions
      @MacSoundSolutions  18 днів тому

      Two efi is interesting. I will check that out, I believe my second partition is just an APFS container but maybe not. I could delete one and then add a container to the Sonoma container. See what happens. I also know MacSchrauber added a mount efi script in Martin Lo OC package and it comes up with a warning saying you have windows installed, would you like to protect your Mac so that windows will only boot when open core is running I plan to text him and find out exactly what that does and I used Rufus for the MICROSOFT install which removes the TPM and secure boot so how is it that you wind up with two EFI the way you did it. Did you format the whole drive in APFS first?

    • @MacSoundSolutions
      @MacSoundSolutions  18 днів тому

      Also where do you have OpenCore installed?

  • @BlazeGriff1n

    Thank you very much for your suggestion to install Windows 11 first on that empty NVME. That saved me from a lot of trouble.
    In my attempt to install Win10 earlier I‘ve also discovered that BootCamp formats the currently used disk’s partition table to some kind of hybrid MBR/GPT, which leads to an error when selecting the unallocated disk in the Windows Installer. I solved the problem by using GDisk, but I don’t recommend that. Forget BootCamp, especially in case of Win11. It's no longer of any use. Stick to Lance‘s tutorial and you‘ll be good!

    awesome video but you've forgot to mention how to remove the EFI\Boot\Microsoft folder. It is an important step as the process of installing Windows 11 on a NVMe drive writes certificates in the EFI (in ur case, you have OCLP, so, you're protected, but in case of NVRAM reset......) and it can be dangerous for Mac Pro 5,1(risk of brick). Peronnally, I use OpenCore Configurator to do this step easily. It will remove the possibility to boot Windows after directly from the Apple Boot Picker, so, the Mac is "protected" (to check after each updates)

    • @MacSoundSolutions
      @MacSoundSolutions  18 днів тому +1

      BUt if you delete the Microsoft folder you can no longer see the windows drive in the bootloader?? I have opencore configurator so how do you do it exactly? I know that MacShrauber wrote a script that is included in Martin Lo’s opecore package that will do this for you. It comes up with a warning saying hey you have windows installed would you like to protect it so I can only boot when opencore is booted? You hit disable and you are good.

    Did you install Mojave also via Open core or Vanilla ? Seem to have issues with OCLP and booting into older OS. Thanks, informative vid.

    • @MacSoundSolutions
      @MacSoundSolutions  17 днів тому

      I already had Mojave installed, OCLP does not support booting into Mojave anymore. You have to hold option at boot and then you can select Mojave but that’s only if you have a boot screen, holding options stops OCLP from loading that’s why I install enable GOP into my boot ram. It gives me apple‘s native boot screen with a generic GPU so you can boot into Mojaveor you can remove your core legacy patcher drive and booed up if you don’t have enable GOP or an Apple GPU you should be able to boot into Mojave, but you will have a blank screen until it gets to the login screen.

    Great video, as usual.
    I’m going to try and replicate this on my MacPro 6,1 using Samsung T7 drives if possible.
    I bought a Caldigit TS3 dock and am using an Apple Thunderbolt 2 cable with the Apple thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3 adapter to run the TS3.
    Do you think that this plan will work to run Windows 11 and a Linux Distro on a T7?

    Awesome!! Thanks Lance!!! I'm going to try your way next! But I have been doing this for years and my secret weapon is Macrium Reflect!!!!!.. I usually start with 2 partitions in macOS. I then install macOS... I then take a install of win 11 from another drive and using Macrium clone that to the 2nd macOS partition. It is a simpler way for me but your way is great too my friend!

    Thanx again Lance. For years I been installing Hyper V on Mac Pro by putting the SSD into another computer to install. I believe I did it MBR & EUFI I think I wrote the Windows Certs on 1 of my Mac Pros because it’s Buggy. The others are rock solid. None of my 3 Hyper V Mac’s have open core. Is it ok if I use the MBR install ? Or do I still risk bricking ?

    Somewhere i’m stuck. What i have and did:
    Normal 5.1 2012 12core 2.4GHz with Metal GPU and bootscreen. Boot from genuine Mojave; sled 1. NVME installed in PCI slot. Erased the nvme ssd as shown. Partioned and such. Apply. Then i download OCLP and want to install OCLP onto this partitioned NVME SSD. All goes well so it seems but during reboot (still following instructions from Lance) i do the same, hold option, pick EFI boot and then choose Mojave. Lance says it cant and gets an error, mine can… it just boots into Mojave. How 🤷🏼‍♂️. I then put the power off. Installed windows, that went well. But then i get stuck at installing MacOS on the other partitions... how do i get into that menu? Thanks

    • @MacSoundSolutions
      @MacSoundSolutions  12 днів тому

      Holding option is how you boot into Mojave once opencore is installed as it bypasses opencore. Just booting should boot you into the Opencore bootloader once installed which does not support booting into Mojave. Download the Mac OS installer using opencore and build a bootable USB stick, install Mac OS from that.
