Excellent, authentic interview. I almost got out of the mortgage industry because of the reputation we had in the mid-2000s. Grateful I stayed in and our industry brand seems to have gotten a lot better. Though, as things have gotten tight in the last 18 months, I'm worried we're going to start losing ground on this. Loan officers ethics are starting to bend of late more than it's been in the last decade from what I'm seeing. We need to keep calling this out and holding ourselves to a high standard.

      I got in - August 2009
I think a lot of the predatory practices I’ve seen have been existent the whole time I’ve been in.
What I’m seeing now - is desperate tactics of going skinny on a deal to the point of anorexia - starving their own business to death and hurting the true players such as our selves. This tactic is higher than ever and hurts everybody.

"There's always a bump in the road." (21:40) And Ciardelli looked at boulders as if they were pebbles. And he flattened them! Actually, he made the road a downhill slope and so incredibly smooth for both loan officers and their clients. I work for GRate and Victor is the coolest CEO. Not a guy you'd imagine in charge of a mortgage company. But don't let the long hair and picture of Hendrix in his office fool you. This guy could be POTUS. And we'd know where the money is going. lol

Some of the things you mentioned are not wrong. Some of it is against the law.
Law and Morality are two different things.
The law has it wrong in our industry for the most part.
