The "why does the ford get a bus engine I want a bus engine" gets me everytime 🤣🤣🤣
I sing this all the time
Facts
True true
Yessss lol
Is it not a boss engine? I'm pretty sure it is
Rich, every time you build a truck I’m like “This is the coolest truck of all time!” Then you’re all “Hold my Tim Hortons.”
As much as a shiny new paint job is...leaving a nice patina on an older truck just lends the ride more character.
Especially since those old truck bodies are old and crunchy like that. To get them back to a point where you’d want to spend the money on a paint job you’d be spending stupid money to get the metal right then you’d be afraid to drive them!
Totally agree with the above posts. I think the patina looks awesome and 'authentic' the way it is.
It’s a truck, trucks (like men) are supposed to have scars.
And then you can't drive it!
Just in case someone hasn't mentioned it yet, the bypass on the back of the head is to give the hot coolant back there a way out. It is returned to the lower radiator hose housing because that is the suction side.
Correct it’s an outtie, not an innie…
and missing paint on the block.
How do you keep it all straight lol. So many awesome builds going on! Thanks for the variety.
it's nice to completely forget about one projects and shift gears into another
I bet a high quality video history helps
Some of us love the patina! Just keep doing what you do, great content!
I missed that intro "Why is the Ford getting a bus engine?! I WANT A BUS ENGINE!!" 🤣
Rich, there is always a better way to build something, but not everyone can afford to do it that way. Love how you show the shade tree mechanic way to get things done!
I disagree with the comments, I like the patina look of the old Fifties Truck. I think it looks great, I wouldn't paint it. I'm with you on this one, Rich. btw I'm quite impressed with what you guys accomplish in that shop of yours with limited high end tools. You do epic builds so I don't know what folks are whining about. So keep your chins up! and keep putting out great projects. We love it, we really do.
It doesn't bother me, I just find it funny. We have just about every kind of build, if you don't like one, wait a week for another.
Imagine watching this channel, all the work being done and complain about something as basically trivial as paint. i LOVE the Silverado and its many forms it's had, this one being awesome too, but i also love the just get it working great ''run down'' look or patina. Saving vehicles from living a normal life.
Gotta love a Cummins man, especially when it's so nice and clean like that. Looks right at home in the bay of that Silverado Rich! Nothing wrong with using the tools you have to get the job done. Lots of folks could benefit from a CNC plasma table or a Flowjet but affording one is another story. Just having a Bridgeport/ lathe is so useful alone, with countless fab projects possible. One step closer to having this truck done. Thanks for the update on this project. 👍👍
After looking at my P pump 12 valve all these years, that 24 valve P pump looks really GREAT!
whoever says to paint the c10 has poor taste. the patina is perfect! good job rich, keep it up
The patina on the C10 is perfect. Screw the haters.
Great video 👍One of the reasons people watch your videos is you build repair etc with what you got with the tools you got no BS 😊
Glad to get the shout out on the WD40 on the knife blade tip 😊
Thanks buddy! I try to read most of the comments as most of them are positive and helpful
I always loved these gen chevys. Uncle had a 2500 6.0l great truck. Cant imagine the 24v version such a cool truck.
Wow that adjustable timing gear cover was probably the coolest part of this project to me. That just worked so well
Love the fact that you respect patina builds and full on builds too. Keep up the good work.
I just used my Langmuir CrossFire CNC plasma table to build a tool to pull drum brakes off my Acty. I started with a hole saw, cutting in to 1/4” plate, then remembered - wait, I have a CNC Plasma! It took me about 30 minutes to design a tool, and about 5 minutes to cut it out. So useful…
Painting those trucks would be a dishonor to them they look absolutely beautiful the way they are!!
I love the patina on the C10 and Apache trucks and i think it fits well with all the creative solutions chosen for those builds. It should also be obvious to everyone that a 15k paintjob with hundreds of hours is nowhere near feasible for all the trucks. Keep doing what you are doing!
F them on painting the trucks man do it your way. This channel has got so much better, you'll be over a million subs before you know it. Keep up the good work brother
Not everyone wants everything pristine and perfect. Make it mechanically great and leave the exterior full of character.
Save your family $15k and have it running 10 years sooner.
Personally I love how resourceful you all with making it work with the tools you have. The timing gear cover is great. Nothing to be ashamed of. Sure there are tools make it go faster but most of us don’t have all the fancy stuff.
The ingenuity in each and every project is just freaking mind blowing. Love it!
38:40 you could put a white DG sticker on that cover for your timing gear so that you know which orientation that goes on you can clock the cover every time you take it off and put it back on you don't have to line up the holes
I did notch the top, but that makes sense
I believe if you put the time money and sweat into a project you can do whatever you want with the paint even if people don’t like it great video thanks for sharing
I like the way you do projects, because I can relate with you doing the job with what you have. I have learned so much from you because of that mentality. If you set your mind to it you can do it.
love the patina! love your channel and you as a person, theres only a few channels i watch every video regardless if im interested in that days content and your channel and personality are one of them!
So happy to see work getting done on this truck!
Loving the hip hop beat during the Cummings take apart bit
That timing gear cover needs a DG logo on it
An old truck with faded/rusty patina looks fantastic IMO (as long as it’s surface rust and not holes or Swiss cheese panels).
You’re far more likely to drive/use something that isn’t perfect because getting a dent or scratch here and there isn’t going to ruin your day.
So many guys spend tens of thousands making a car absolutely perfect, and then end up just staring at it collecting dust in the garage for fear of messing it up. I think the C10 is awesome just the way it is, turquoise/powder blue looks fantastic with the orange/brown of the rust.
I really like how creative you are when it comes to these builds it’s definitely inspiring!
Absolutely the best whine! "I want a bus engine!" LOL!!
Thats awesome. That"s my truck in the PDD install video you talked about.
Nothing to be embarrassed about ! You are using your head and skills to make it work ! It actually looks great . Don't let couch potatoes bring you down . Thanks for sharing !
The Petipa makes the truck bad ass and authentic. DO NOT PaINT IT. Please. Patina is Perfect. Love your content big bossG
i admire your fabrication skills. the skill and imagination that you have is one of a kind.
Awesome video, it was my birthday the other day and my wife bought me a set of your Deboss Garage fender covers. Super awesome gift cant wait to show em off on my ls swap landcruiser videos
the patina is excellent the artist that did the work is excellent. no big gaping rust holes or dents. i love it.
Thanks for making it easier to relate but your talent is on another level
Very nice. The black and white looks awesome
You need to get that stormtrooper outfit ordered soon Rich to match the car.
Best comment so far!
Engine looks fantastic! Great job Rich a good finish to an Easter Sunday.
Tell the trailer riders to kick rocks. Those trucks look amazing!
my favorite truck on this channel. lots of sentimental value.
Awesome builds this one is so cool can't wait to see it get rolling under its own power!!
Gonna be a great summer! Thanks Rich
I'm jealous of the patinas because being from newfoundland patina means major rust holes and structural issues lol
Same here, we have to go to California
The patina is amazing, and no one in the comments section owns those trucks. Do what you like, the reason we watch is because we like it too. You’re doin good Rich.
You definitely need to pin dial that injection pump. Never time a p-pump with that pin that comes with the pump. It could be up to 20 degrees off.
Happy Easter Rich & family! Love the video 🎉🎉
Here we go waiting anxiously for the next videos of this Silverado greatness of Cummins
"Use what you have" is a better example to most of your audience than buying expensive tools - in my opinion anyway. Great work.👍
Vince IS awesome
I'd almost forgotten about the Silvie. So much happening during the winter in Ontario. Now the Spring thaw is unfreezing the video flow. Don't tell Zip Ties & Bias Plies cuz he would be *STUNNED!*
The music for the cover drilling sounded like a FORD ignition chime. 😂
Patina it up! Both the Apache and the C10 are beautiful works of art. If certain critics don't like it, they can go view a different gallery.
I had an argument with someone on YT about using different Manufacturers to build a vehicle. Don't remember exactly what but more than likely an LS in a Fox body. Anyway, watching you build this and the 350 just reinforces some of the recipes in my nugget. (Broke and broken Vet so that's all they'll ever be) For a work Truck it's pretty simple but probably overkill for what I need. Take an old Cuccv, drop in a MILD 12V with a 4500, and the interior, at least the seats, from a King Ranch. It'd be dead nuts reliable and pull anything you could possibly need.
The front cover actually looks really good for just something you whipped up out of some old parts haha❤❤❤
Your such a hard worker Rich. I admire your work ethic
Your ability to create is your greatest tool/skill, you have a great vision for a project a skills to match
patina looks amazing!
thanks for the update on this chevy its been like a year lol forgot all about this chevy looking good
That "disgusting" clip was top notch
Oh man, that last line about getting to work on my project. I'm on the mend from surgery and I can't yet reach across the engine bay to finish hooking up the last bits of my transmission swap. I swear I'll stop sitting on the couch soon! 😅
Get better soon Colton!
3:32 CAT engine isn't in the truck so the start is around a year old,
my favorite part of the video has to be that access hole for that gear that thing is overbuilt beaut
Nice to see the Silverado get some love again :)
Everything will finish just as the weather is finally ready to go 👍
I like the patina. I prefer something to be mechanically perfect before visually perfect. Plus, then you can just enjoy driving it and not have to spend every waking minute keeping the paint clean and crying over a chip or scuff.
Please take the fender flares off. It looks so much cleaner without them. Not to mention they will wear into that brand new paint job
Dodge Utiline fenders on the Chev is far more outrageous than any worn out anti-paint job
i just love it when people say, "it doesnt need a block heater or to be plugged in it starts just fine." Yeah but its also to reduce the stress on the engine.
Great build, my fave behind the F Tree Kitty. 🤔 I'm gonna say I disagree with the coolant bypass addition. I could be wrong, but if you measure the actual water temps at the front of the engine where it just came out the radiator and took another reading near the back of the block, you'd see not much temperature delta at all. The more water flow you have, the less delta you will see, and that's why I think it's unnecessary because the mechanical water pump on just about any engine is very high flowing. I think you'd be surprised at how close the temps are at the different positions. It would be cool to see it tested.
Greetings from BC! Great stuff!
Thank you very much!
People say the patina on the c10 is ugly ? Are they crazy ?
The patina and Mike's work are perfect, they fit the truck marvelously !
Master customizer of custom parts on a very much custom set of plans lol. Best builder on what is an actual budget build because in the states it's about 3 times as much to even approach that level of customization and that is using non modified parts lol.
always great videos and informative content and i am running afc live in my p pumped 24v with compounts and tons of other work its awesome you will love it!
I can't wait!
Finally, Cummins stuff!
Old Combine hubs work great for engine stands
Honestly I've never liked those "cat eye" GM trucks, but the looks of that truck have changed my view on that. Can't wait to see it done Rich, awesome work!
You need a plasma torch/plasma table, a Bridgeport, and a tap arm! You can tap with the Bridgeport but tap arms are very handy!
keep getting dirty and building stuff!! I appreciate your craftsmanship!
I have been following you form the start keep up the good work
The other two trucks look awesome the way they are. No need to repaint either of them. Also check out the plasma cutter that The Jackson Brothers got. It can cut 2" thick.
That's a pretty sweet setup Rich! I have a buddy he's got the cummins school bus engine with that same air pump in his 94 Chevy four-door dually it's quite a noisy Beast. Last year he had that timing plate break and I think he went with the Billet
WHATTTT? Come on guys, keep doing you Rich! Your projects and content are great.
That motor looks sweet with the white accents!
6:45 wow! The Case IH 9350 Steiger trans! That was on DGHD a year ago!
I am once again thanking you for giving us the Silverado
because of your review i want to get b-quiet for my truck i was curious how much do you typically go through on a single cab pickup interior
9:58 wow stepping on some toes there😅😅
Some good progress on your vehicles
Forget those guys, patina is awesome!
Nice!
I would see a logo in that alu plate.. you make ot look simple, but its alot of work there..good job
Love everything you do and how you do it enuff said!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Larry
The patina is a beautiful color
Better tools free’s time in which More time for the build’s potentially More Build’s!!! Level up! Love the Channel excited for the future
I love the patina on the c10. Personally and I’m not usually a patina guy.
