George Harrison is criminally underrated, its ridiculous. Not only in the band, but in the music community as well. I find it sort of unfortunate thats he remembered as “The Quiet Beatle” and not “one of the best artists of our time. His guitar skills and writing skills are impeccable. Rest in peace, George.
My fingers are CRYING and BLEEDING with agony ("I GOT BLISTERS ON ME FINGERS!...") but that's one more amazing solo I'd thought thought Ive never learned, under my belt! You remain a patient and amazing teacher, Marty. Having a blast looking through all your older tutorials.
I'm no guitarist and never will be :-( ( nerve damage in my hands in a motorcycle accident.) but I really enjoyed listening and watching your work thanks. Keep up the teaching the world can never have too much music play free, play strong, play forever !
Because he was we were lucky to have him and so many others around when we did. Through his music and the music he and 3 other young lads created we will always be able to enjoy the music. George Harrison is in my opinion underrated by many yes Lennon and McCartney were great writers but George was damn good too, you doubt me ? Listen to his work and you may change your mind.
To Nige GSX14 - Totally agree with you. George Harrison was a musical genius (in the true sense of the word) in his own right. He was an extraordinary, extremely rare, deeply humble spiritual man.
Totally agree eight years later: proof this tune stands the test of time. You don’t have to shred to evoke emotion. Listen to Europa by Carlos Santana: ☺️
all class and feel - his guitar work progressed so much in 5 years or so but all his previous influences (Carl Perkins etc) left an indelible mark on his style. He could project so much emotion with relatively few notes and NO finger frenzy
Marty - I hadn't held a guitar in twenty years. In getting it back, you have helped immensely. This is the solo to my wifes favorite Beatles song. I need to keep practicing so I can make my fingers do what they're supposed to. Any practice routine suggestions would be great. Thanks and keep up the lessons - They're awesome!!
Thank you Marty, I got my first electric guitar and of course had to play my favorite solo, and I got it thanks to your enormous patience and love for music.
Excellent explanation, I wanted to play this song since about 40 years and now I'm able to play it because of your great tutorial. Regards from Mexico City.
I have listened to the beatles forever and john was my favorite musician, but I have really become a george harrison fan lately. listening and re listening to the rubber soul revolver and abbey road albums. Great tutorial!! well done, and I love that you stop and repeat as I learn. THANK YOU!!!
+jeffrey hardman thanks for the support, I'll be back better than every in 2016! In the meantime, please keep in touch with me at my official Facebook page here: facebook.com/MartySchwartzofficial/?ref=hl
Hi Marty! what's uuuuuuuuuuuuuup ?! anytime I put one of your videos up my daughter burst to laughter when you say what's up ! you'r the man ,thanks for all your tutorials dude .
Hi Marty! Thank you SO Much for this instructional video for one of the Prettiest, Melancholy Solos out there! I appreciate how you took each phrase, step-by-step, as well as naming the chords. This solo has always hit me in my gut and heart. Very moving. And now, I get to learn it and embrace it! Thank you! And Bless You, George Harrison, for sharing such Melodic Beauty with us! Such an Awesome Song. May your lasting presence always remain...
I never post comments for real no bull. Marty is the best online guitar teacher period.. I have looked at hundreds of guitar lessons at different web sites and nobody is as good at Marty he is a excellent teacher Thank you Marty you have re-inspired my love for the guitar
..have been practising this beaut for 2 days now and 1 of many things I have re-learnt along the way is why I chose you to be my teacher Marty. Thank You:)
Thanks Marty. This is a huge confidence booster because I can almost play it. I have been putting off learning a real solo since I started playing 6 months ago. You rock
Marty, you really touched with this one. Means a lot. I'm a very very beginner (bought my first guitar 10 days ago) and if I get to get this song, I'll be more than satisfied. God bless!
+jeffrey hardman +D Vids thanks for the support, I'll be back better than ever in 2016! In the meantime, please keep in touch with me at my official Facebook page here: facebook.com/MartySchwartzofficial/?ref=hl
Beautiful. There is so much warmth and pathos in the chords, lyrics, and solo. It proves that one doesn't always have to use the cliche "LOVE" in a title or lyrics to convey the emotion. You're incredible Marty. Thanks for the lesson.
Marty I am so glad yours was the first one I found on Something. You did a fantastic job and made learning this easy and fun. Instead of thinking of what song is next I am thinking which one of your tutorials is next
excellent stuff....wish they had this kind of instruction when i was starting out...well explained, well played....thank you Marty....been playing for 45 years...still learning...so many songs out there!...
thank you very much for this solo tutorial i learned two songs from you Marty which is my favorite let it be and something... god bless!...Alan from philippines
thanks so much for teaching me how to play my favorite songs i can tell you are a guy like me who loves music with none of that ego that plaques so many guitar players! peace man!!! Leo
Two words, just beautiful! Thanks for the lesson, Marty. Please, please, please lets have a Beatlefest of lessons, many, many thanks. Your lessons are invaluable. Regards.
Marty, I just found this & you heard some subtleties I hadn't heard before. Awesome! You made my sound on this better. However, I find that playing this on the higher strings doesn't add the same subtones you get out of moving this entire solo to the 12th fret. I think that some of the solo is in the position you play it; however, the beginning I hear on 12. Thanks again!
Excellent pace and detail. You are a hero dude! Like Homegirl 1982- I never thought I'd learn this lead either but you made it manageable. Thanks so much!
Very Big Thanks Marty it's - as usual - a very helpful lesson, this is now my 3rd Solo I learned from you, and I never thought I can handle this so fast. Have a nice day Greetings & best wishes from Germany ;-)

Hey man, very tasty and right to the friggin point. Repetitive to the point you didn't have to rewind. A quick pause here and there and you got it! A+ freebee my friend!!
Brilliantly explained Marty,,most players should achieve what you've put down,,just keep going over and over it..no one learns to play with the axe in the case! lol,,thanks!
George Harrison is criminally underrated, its ridiculous. Not only in the band, but in the music community as well. Thanks Marty. This is the first true solo Ive ever learned to play.
Mine too. :)

geez, this just shows what a great guitarist George was.
why was George so awesome
Because solos like that were played by Clapton :D
RFDlic Only on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". Clapton played on a number of George's solo tracks, but WMGGW was the only Beatles tune he played on.
You are right.
Because he was we were lucky to have him and so many others around when we did. Through his music and the music he and 3 other young lads created we will always be able to enjoy the music. I would actually say this is my favorite solo ever in a song, it says so much with so little notes !
Totally agree eight years later: proof this tune stands the test of time. You don’t have to shred to evoke emotion.

I get goosebumps when you say, "HEY, WHAT'S UP!?"
Gosh Marty is cool.
this is the best explanation...showing how the notes come out of the chords...not a mindless muscle memory thing.
