  • Well this was an awesome night! I wish I caught more but the bigger Tarpon were just to hard to tame. I'm a Rookie at the art of Tarpon Fishing so it was cool to finally try it and succeed in nearly catching two and getting on a bite! Be sure to Like and Sub if you enjoyed!

I actually landed the first two tarpon that I hooked up with and was quite cocky then I missed about 50 in a row and was quite humbled by the silver king 😂

Man, you earned every hit you got!
    Well done.
I was in the Florida Keys fishing in March, 2020 when the Governor of Illinois announced he was closing all restaurants, bars...
Figured idiot Illinois Governor may choose to block re-entry into Illinois or shut down gas stations so, in the middle of the night, at low tide, I ran my bassboat to a private ramp and hit the road back to Illinois.
Couple weeks before, I was car camping so I could spend more time chasing largemouth bass in the Everglades and Peacock Bass in the Canals.
Still one of the best Florida Trips Ever!
    Be well.

Florida law tarpon over 40" must remain in water during release. Just to let you know be careful my friend. Liked this video it was a roller coaster ride.

I believe some places do allow you to net some around that size, if you are on a bridge (gray area due to estimation), only to take the hook out

Tie a fg knot with a rizzuto finish, i promise youll be satisfy with the way it flows through the guides ! Albright knot is just a setup waiting to break some guides while using heavy floro/mono

Tarpon are heart breakers for sure. I was fishing in my kayak off the beach about 100 yards out and I hooked up on a tarpon and I fought it for an hour and it towed me about 1/2 mile out and i lost it when it came up to jump. It sucked and I lost a $25 lure

Nothing more exciting and a little spooky than night bridge fishing in the keys. My dad and I did it in the 60s around Islamorada using BIG shrimp. Landing a fish was impossible but the hook-ups and runs were amazing.

Took me 3 years to land my first tarpon . Hook 10 to 15 per year even when you think they're hooked solid they still throw the hooks . Tight lines Rich .

I've really enjoyed watching the keys fishing videos. The tarpon bite is really starting to turn on and I caught a 60lb tarpon last night off my dock in Islamorada. Hope you go to the keys again when this coronavirus crap is over. Tarpon fishing is starting to get really good. Plus a tip, if you can, go to flamingo and fish around snake bite. Nobody has been going there because of the virus and the snook bite is better than I've ever seen it. My uncle and I have been going there for years and I've never seen it this good. At some points, we were able to catch snook cast after cast. If the ramp hasn't been locked off, you might still be able to launch your kayak at the flamingo visitor center and paddle over. If you go, message me and I'll send pictures of a good general spot to fish.

I’m heading to fish in the snake bight area tomorrow morning out of my kayak. Would you mind lending some info to an interested stranger?

    • @treehugger4916
      @treehugger4916 2 роки тому

@@daltond190 Saltwater assasin or similar style swim baits in electric chicken or new penny would be all you need. look for other guys fishing on flatsboats around snake bight and fish around there. don't get close to the captains, but fish the area they are in. pull your lure into sand patches "will just look like lighter patches in the water" because most of the snook and redfish will be in them. fish around the schools of mullet there too, they're massive and you cant miss them.

I crush all my barbs when Striper fishing... but with Tarpon that barb is your best friend Rich. Also when you feel them coming to the surface for a jump you gotta lower that rod tip and point it at them while their in the air. I know you know that, I’ve seen you do it. Got get that bonefish and then safe travels up north. Stripers are everywhere and they’re hungry as hell. Hope the AdahK sails soon my friend. Safe travels.

i was about 15 minutes north of marathon yesterday on a bridge fishing with a pinfish and got two little bites but nothing. so i reeled in a little to see if the pinfish was ok (but it was still in the water) - he looked a little tired but i let him push out with the current and then a few seconds later WHAM! I saw what looked like a giant tuna flip over in the water and crush the little pin. knowing it could not be a huge 6-7 ft tuna, i think it must have been a goliath grouper. and it did spool me - never stoped at all...:( could be what hit you if there was deep enough water nearby.
