3:33 My older brother Chris Owen (W.O.1) White Boiler Suit and black strap. Retired in 2022 having served 45 years with the Royal Navy. Very little if anything he did not know about life at sea. Now happily retired. Massively proud of his length of service and dedication to the White Ensign.
FOST many a happy time at Portland doing work ups, either 5, 3 or 2 week, lovely referred to as BOST, COST and SOST, long hours, hard work especially the sea weeks but great times in the green shutters or across way into Weymouth.. during harbour weeks. Would have loved to have been a searider in the green foul weather gear, the infamous staff sea checks, and the white ovvies, but ran out of time leaving after 22 years.loved a Thursday war defending Portlandia.😅 or picking the wafus out of the oggin in Portland harbour when their Wessexs 3 stopped burning and turning..happy days..
Almost certainly the most crucial part of any military fighting force’s combat effectiveness, above all else is robust and meticulous Training closely followed by experience. Without this no number of ships, aircraft or armoured vehicles will guarantee military success on the Battlefield in whatever domain!
Cost and Bost. A piece of piss. Dockyard frollicks and distex up the hill at Portland. Then Thursday war to top it off. Loved it. Mind you this was in the eighties 😁😁😁😁
High standards and self-discipline seriously declined when HMS Ganges lowered its flag for the last time. 'Pull Up A Bollard...HMS Ganges and Beyond...' is an excellent book about Ganges in the 1960s.
I was a stoker PO at Ganges in 1971 attached to " the main gate gestapo ". Yes Ganges was an excellent establishment , giving confidence to very young men .pity it closed when school leaving age increased !
Anti Flash Gear: The purpose of anti-flash gear is to provide protection to the head, neck, face and hands from short-duration flame exposure and heat.

The fact that so many Navies come to the UK for FOST really goes to show the quality we have here

What does "flag" officer mean?
Mean s an admiral.
It's a rank, from OF-6 until OF-9/10.
@@davidflandry5452Not really, a Commandore is also a flag officer ;)
A fleet admiral, admiral, vice-admiral, rear admiral, or commodore, who is entitled to display a flag indicating his or her rank.
why they wearing that netting over their mouths

@@kingofthepennies8358 Was a sod to breathe through, though, when loading and shooting in a 4.5inch turret!
Too much noise.
