I watched way too many junk video reviews for Final Girl and your video was the best, most in-depth, showed the features, boards, offered a rating for each component, and the presentation was on point. Thank you for this!
My pleasure! Creech Manor is definitely the most different out of S1 and I love it. Be sure you check out my series 2 video if you continue to get more into the game! 😊
This video was exactly what I needed! I bought all the feature films and the core box second hand last week, played with Hans first and was wandering what to try next. Your guide helped me a bunch!
Thanks for your thorough review! I recently received my Season 1 Final Girl content in Wave 1 shipping. After doing research, I opted for Camp Happy Trails. For a second vignette, I went with Carnage at the Carnival. (I, too, like the creepy puppets.) It was between that one and the poltergeist film. For Season 2, I've chosen Terror at Station 2891 and Madness in the Dark. I figured if I really love the game, I can always pick up other vignettes at a later date. I'm planning to get FG to the table this week. Will you be doing a Season 2 overview? Maybe after you've had some time to play all the vignettes a few times, you'll do another video. Anyway, thanks again for posting!
Great choices! Hope you enjoy the series 1 content this week! If you have any questions after your play, feel free to msg me. My plan is to do an overview of the series 2 feature films once I receive them and have a chance to play through them with each new final girl.
My bf and I just started playing a month ago but accidentally bought a pretty hard one without knowing we should’ve started with Camp Happy Trails. We started with Sacred groves and Inkayamba. We got destroyed every single time we played lol. 😭 Thanks for the info and def picking up a more beginner friendly one. 💜
@@luciskies i struggle with the trio killers. That one terror card that brings all 3 killers to you is such a pain to deal with. Any strategy you used to win 😅?
Glad you enjoyed the video! I got those when I purchase Final Girl from my local shop. You can also find them on the Van Ryder shop here: www.vanrydergames.com/new-products/final-girl-core-box-fms4j-ztgbe-zw7dt-yg9ww-rlzs4-tjdd4-6p993-tkm75
To see what the whole Final Girl fuss was about, I bought the core box and the "beginner-level" feature film, Camp Happy Trails. After two games, it's a hard sell for me. The first game I got trounced with the killer having about half his health left, but the next was extremely easy and I won handily. I can't stand games that have this much swinginess in outcomes to them. The die rolls make the game extremely sensitive to a win or loss direction, so if you hate dice-driven games, stay FAR away from this one. In addition, the item cards are grossly unbalanced. In the second game, I got an axe, which has a 2-damage modifier. That's HUGE! If you find that, your chances of winning go up by more than 50% at least. The rest of the item cards have a smattering of 1-damage weapons and a lot of general items without damage modifiers. So the randomness of the item deck is also swingy, in addition to the dice. Another point that speaks to the high sensitivity of the game moving in either a win or loss direction is the fact that if you forget one tiny rule or forget to first take health away from a minor dark power card (for example), that's truly game-breaking. This element is absolutely atrocious in board game design, I can't stress this enough. I'd much rather play a board game where a very minor rule that you miss won't upset the game entirely. In Final Girl, BOY is that not the case! When the game chugs along, you'll likely have cards in different places with their own little rules on them to keep track of, which isn't good at all because you can easily end up missing them. Again, if you fail to notice one little, teensy-weensy rule on a card, you could literally either falsely win or lose in 1 round. Then when you catch the mistake, you can't possibly redo what you did before. Overall, I can only recommend this game if you love and want one of the most thematic board games in existence today and are willing to overlook the gameplay mechanics and luck-driven nature of the game, admittedly with a hint of strategy thrown in. That's pretty much it. The theme really shines through, and I really believe that the theme is what tends to blind people to the extreme luck-driven nature of the game and its very *fatal* flaws (pun intended). My final verdict: 2 stars out of 5.
Thank you for the review! I understand where you're coming from and in most games I agree that swingy game play turns me away. I'm just so enthralled with the theme and emergent story that I look past it for Final Girl.
That and the inane music stopped me watching it through. The information was useful but the process stopped it being worthwhile. This is intended as constructive feedback.
There is an ad on this website that advertises fine looking t-shirts. I can watch these vids but put some prep time into it. It's just you talking, we want to hear what you think, but it is a video that we watch.

So glad it was helpful! Enjoy
I discovered this game today and have spent all day watching playthroughs. This was the icing on the cake, thanks for the indepth video
Glad I could help! Hope you are enjoying it.
Thanks for the information I just recently got Final Girl retail and am excited. I love solo but haven't tried it out yet
You are in for a treat. Let me know which feature film ends up your favorite!
Great walk through, I appreciate the detail. Just learned about this game from a friend and I'm excited.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Appreciate the breakdown of each Feature Film.
Thank you for watching! Hope it was helpful and you get a chance to play 😊
Thanks for the guide dude 👍 Very good video.

Oh no! You dove into the deep end lol! It's a ton of fun once you're more familiar with the game. Thanks for watching 😊
@@boardgameapprentice We got The Intruders and finally beat a game. It was soooo much easier than Inky. Thanks again ^.^

Thank you - glad to have you around the channel 😁
So i just ordered this game last friday and started with Dr. Fright. Hopefully it wont get too complex to get into
I just recived my core box and dr fright copy las week too and I'd say is a good choice to start indeed!
Sorry for late reply! Hope you were able to defeat Dr. Fright 🤞
@@boardgameapprentice Yes! In fact since i've gotten the poltergeist and a knock on the door. I also backed season 3 on kickstarter
A good and interesting video. Thank you. Unfortunately, the music in the background is annoying and interferes with understanding your spoken text.
Thank you for watching and feedback. This was an earlier video and I've worked to improve audio balancing and quality.
So you can put the killer in any other map? For example you can play Hans with the Carnage at the Carnival map?
Yes! You can mix and match any killer+location. The modularity of the game is awesome.
@@boardgameapprentice That's fantastic! Replay ability galore. Thanks!
How did you get hold of the plastic minis? Really enjoyed the video.
Glad you enjoyed the video!

@@boardgameapprentice thanks so much. 🙂
Please excuse my ignorance, but where did you get the little figurines?
They are the Final Girl: Miniatures Box Series 1, you can get them right from the Van Ryder Games website!

Are you ray baroness?
Barone
Thank you for watching my videos! No, I am not Ray Baroness (not sure who that is), but I appreciate your support.
Man your camera gives me headaches for focusing on the wrong things
Sorry about that! Was trying to use auto focus but it ended up a bit wonky. Won't be relying on it in the future.
Come on guys the camera work isn't that bad! Certainly not Oscar nomination cinematography but no need to be quite so precious.
That and the inane music stopped me watching it through. The information was useful but the process stopped it being worthwhile. This is intended as constructive feedback.
Never considered refilming this with how bad the auto focus is huh? It's nearly impossible to watch at times.

Thanks for the feedback, was experimenting with the auto focus and didn't work quite as well I'd hoped. Won't be relying on it moving forward!
