The derpy lore in the first episode is sad af. When they’re all getting their flying awards the first time, Derpy actually won first place. As her condition grew worse, you can see she’s placing lower and lower in each ceremony, but her smile never fades! 😭
I don’t know if anyone else had a pointed this out but RDs parents over the top cheerleading is not just dangerous (shooting fireworks towards them when they are flying??), but them cheering on small insignificant things (come on, hanging a towel or cutting a ribbon? Do not need that.) kinda makes the bigger important things feel less meaningful? Like it almost seems like they’re coddling her and treating her like a child. They are putting her most meaningful achievements at the same level as her hanging a towel?! It’s the power scaling thing. Like there’s a limit to how ridiculously they can be supportive and if they throw that around for stuff that RD sees as insignificant then what are they going to do to top that for stuff that RD is proud of?
The biggest problem with that episode is the way Dash's parents get off completely scot free. Like yes, Dash could certainly have handled the situation better, but her parents' behaviour went far beyond "embarrassing" - they were actively disruptive, they were ruining Dash's enjoyment of her own hobbies, and they cheapened her actual accomplishments. They absolutely needed to be called out on their behaviour. The way the episode portrays Dash as being entirely in the wrong and completely vindicates her parents of any wrongdoing is what annoys people about the episode.
Glad I'm not the only one who noticed, her eyes get progressively more derped and her rank gets lower, and in another episode there's a flashback to a hospital and you can see a younger Derpy with bandages over her eyes
a lot of fans dont like this episode because of both rainbow and her parents' behavior, but for me it was such a cute and wholesome episode because all of them kinda had character development, rainbow learned to appreciate her parents more and her parents learned to understand their daughter's feeling
If you watch during the flashback in Parental Glidance, Derpy started on top of the podium and her eyes were straight. Then as time went on, she moved further and further down in the ranks as her eyes became more messed up. And back in Honest Apple, you see her in the background at the hospital with her eyes bandaged. They're giving her a whole backstory in the background of the flashbacks.
We finally got the chance to meet Rainbow Dash's parents, Bow Hothoof and Windy Whistles. Rainbow Dash was embarrassed by them, but she still loved them. The door and Scootaloo as a fangirl were hilarious. We all loved our parents and they will always support us 🥹🥹🥹💖💖💖🤣🤣🤣
"Parental Glidance" is one of my favorite RD episodes! It was nice to finally meet the parents of another member of the Mane 6! Though I could kinda understand RD's frustrations with her parents being supportive, Because as this episode explains while it's good for parents to be supportive of their children there is such a thing as being too supportive and no child wants their parents to be that supportive. But anyway, It was interesting to learn what RD's childhood was like and the look on Scootaloo's face when she saw the room with all of RD's trophy's was hilarious. Speaking of Scootaloo I could see where she was coming from after RD yelled at her parents because Scootaloo's parents were never there for her when she needed them, So she didn't know what getting parental support was like. But at least everything worked out in the end. As for "Hard To Say Anything" even though a lot of people think that it's a bad episode, I for one enjoy it! It was totally awesome that Big Mac one of the shows most underrated yet most popular secondary characters had a genuine crush on somepony, Though I can understand why some people didn't like that it was Sugar Belle because it was so random and out of nowhere and on some level Big Mac and Sugar Belle aren't that much compatible, I mean I'm a SugarMac fan i'm just saying that I can see why many people disapproved of this random canon pairing. And I can still remember when the Brony analysts were griping about how Sugar Belle didn't seem to like Big Mac romantically because it was kinda lazy writing that she didn't seem to despite all of the obvious facial expressions she kept giving Big Mac, Talk about mixed signals. And don't get me started on Feather Bangs, I mean like so many in the fandom I too thought of him as basically the ponified Justin Bieber, He had a totally awesome singing voice and I especially loved that his 3 "Not-so-secret" admirers were based on the Bimbettes from Beauty and the Beast. But at least Feather Bangs didn't totally lose in the end. lol As for the CMC's this may have been the 2nd time that they tried to "help" in somepony's love life, But just like the Hearts and Hooves Day incident they managed to sadly once again mess things up for Big Mac. I mean yeah their hearts were in the right place but just like with the Hearts and Hooves Day episode they went about it all wrong, But luckily they were able to help Big Mac and Sugar Belle get together in the end. Anyway I overall enjoy the episode, Regardless of the hate it gets.
Ah yes, he finally got to one of the most controversial episodes in the entire show 😭 personally I was with Dash on that one. Overbearing parents are no better than neglectful parents. Rainbow Dash had every right to yell at them, because they constantly overstepped her boundaries and didn’t listen when she told them to back off.
*1:02** FUNFACT: You can actually see RainbowDash's dad with her a couple times as a filly! He was fted in some of the early mlp episodes like "Games Ponies Play" when Cloudsdale lost! 🌈💐*
@@RitsuSakuma69that pony was seen in a future episode with the same design. Crowd shot i think a Christmas episode. So no that is not a beta design. That is a different character
"Parental Glideance" is kind of a divisive episode. Some people think that Rainbow Dash learned a good lesson about appreciating how supportive her parents are. Other people think it was a bad lesson justifying intrusive helicopter parenting. Personally, I think that Bow and Windy crossed the line from enthusiastic to inappropriate because their behavior interfered with the Wonderbolt show, and they were disruptive to the audience. There could have been a good lesson about moderation where Rainbow and her parents learned how to meet in the middle if Bow and Windy modified their approach and Rainbow was more receptive. I also think the episode missed out on an important lesson about how to give positive feedback. I've said before in other discussions about this episode, and I'll say it again here: Constant praise can be just as harmful to a child as constant criticism. If kids never receive anything but praise then they'll never learn how to take constructive criticism in a healthy way. Also, the praise becomes meaningless. If you are praised for every little thing you do then the praise for genuine accomplishments falls flat.
Honestly Rainbow’s parents’ cheering was on par with Pinkie’s and she appreciated pinkie’s cheering so it’s sad to see rainbow be embarrassed by her parents for similar things.
(17:44) Quick cutaway to Twilight’s castle where she is contently reading a book in her study, while Spike sneezes offscreen in another room, surprising Twilight.
The best back to back MLP episodes of this reaction! The CMC have their own share of adult situations in both of them, but how they handle these shows how mature they’ve gotten compared to their early days on the show. For example, Scootaloo in Parental Glideance. She meets Rainbow’s parents for the first time. RD may find them embarrassing, but Scootaloo sees them as what’s missing in her own life: loving parents.
I love rd parent's, they're so supportive, is great to see honestly even if they did go way too far everytime, also no wonder Rainbow has such an enormous ego with parent's like that who wouldn't
For the ep with Rainbow's parents, I feel like there's something that can be argued about people cheering you on when you feel like you didn't achieve anything. Idk, something, something self esteem; I can't think right now lol
I lived the rd family episode and the way that despite to RD it seemed like the bolts were teasing her they were genuinely happy for her because while loud and sometimes embarrassing its pretty lucky to get such loving parents

I relate a lot to scootaloo. My parents were never really that supportive of me/kinda not around. And when i watched how supportive Rainbows parents were when i was little, i didn't see anything wrong with it cause it looked like a dream come true for me.. i understand Rainbows' side, though now.

As for Hard to Say Anything....I don't really care much for it. Personally, I'm not a fan of SugarMac. I think that Big Mac should have been with Marble Pie (Note: I don't really believe that they're cousins).
.
If people hate the RD's parents episode, then you’ll definitely hate Scootaloo's parents
