as a fellow IISER/IIsc aspirant seeing a Olympiad Gold medalist choosing basic science instead of BTech gives a boost to me as there is someone with same ideology as mine with the same reason as mine (not wanting to become an engineer) . Kudos to him for not falling in peer pressure 👏

I love how he is keeping things simple rather than exaggerating about how difficult his journey was and selecting between IITs and IISC
Medalists of international olympiads must prefer pure sciences to pursue as a career as their counterparts in US and China do. Hardly any IMO/IPhO gold medalists in China and US opt for engineering as their career. But India must try to pace up their academic environment and investment on R&D.
IIT is not everything

So generally the application happens well before he would have got gold .. Next year if he applies maybe then he gets scholarship along with admit .
