  • Originally the problem was the door wouldn't unlock with the remote, or from inside without manually unlocking the door with my hand. Turns out the door lock actuator needed to be replaced.
I demonstrate how to replace the door lock actuator, and the door handle on the drivers door. This is for a 2013 Nissan Maxima, I saw other videos similar to this but couldn't find any other ones for this exact vehicle so I figured I would make one.
Video on how to remove the cables-------

Thanks for the video! A couple of problems I ran into. It appeared like my actuator had been replaced. My only reason for this observation is that when I could not get the door handle cable to go through the first cutout hole, I noticed that the tab of the first hole had been slightly bent on the original one. Once I did this, it slid right in and I was able to bend the tab back. My other problem was the front window mounting bolt was stripped and would not come out. I ended up removing the additional 4 bolts on the cover, which attach the window regulator, but did not remove the window motor bolts. This did require me to tie the cover up out of the way as I did not want to disconnect the window regulator from the window motor. Upon reinstalling the cover, I was able to hold up the window regulator to the back of the cover as I started the 4 bolts by hand. I left them loose until I could reinstall the 8 or so cover bolts, then I tightened down the 4 regulator bolts. I was able to find a reman actuator on eBay for $88 and I chose it as they offer a lifetime warranty along with a $10 refund, when I return my old one. Everything is working great, along with the button on the door handle. Thanks Again!

Sweet! That's great hear. Looks like you definitely had some problem spots, but glad it worked out.
Probably the same seller on ebay that I used.

I’m kinda confused about having to detach the actual window prior to pulling the black metal piece off. Why do you have to? Could you please explain that part. Thanks. I’m having the same problem and going to have to tackle this exact same project once the weather cools down a bit. Great video. It will help a lot. Just that one part I’m confused about.

The black metal piece holds together the window lift motor and assembly, what the window sits on. Since you have to take that out, the Window has to go somewhere, otherwise the window is in the way being in the door to unscrew anything else, especially trying to get to the handle itself. So the best placement is to tape it up, (less likely to damage it if you don't take it out and set it on the ground) Does that make sense?

@@AustinSpringer yes. Thank-you for rapid response! Makes perfect sense now.

You can just ol hold the button once to put the windows down

The interior door trim cover that goes over the handle to pull the door closed won’t easily snap back on the top piece won’t clip in help

0:50 ...why doesn't this trick work with my 2012 Maxima SV? I have to use the actual manual key in the fob itself to get in.

    • @AustinSpringer

I'll just list a few things that come to mind that it could be.
1st, do you hear the click noise on the door still when you click unlock on your key fob? If you have the same problem as I do, you should hear a click but the door doesn't actually unlock. But your passenger door should and other doors should still unlock just fine. If that doesn't work then I would think your Key Fob battery is dead.
2nd, someone else pointed out that you actually only need to push and hold the u lock button once, and not tap 3 times, so you could try that. Even for myself though sometimes it works first try and sometimes it doesn't.
3rd, do your windows work correctly normally? On mine sometimes the wiring starts acting up, and won't do automatic up and automatic down, put if I hold it they will work like normal, so I figure it's some small short somewhere that is intermittent.
