literally going to cry cause i use to have such a dangerous relationship with food, this year i decided to nourish my body and eat to live a long and happy life!
I believe in you!! You can do it!! I too have been recovering from an ED the past few years and I promise it does get better. Never forget you deserve to be healthy and you are beautiful inside and out ❤️
SAME!! It’s only been 4 days and I’m eating at least 2 bowls of chocolate cheerios a day. :( I don’t usually have intense cravings but my period is messing with me. I think I’m gonna reach for the salmon instead of the waffles now!
Almost broke down crying. Hearing another woman speaking openly and honestly about their relationship with food and still loving herself. I’m subscribing now. Even if all of your content is not like this video you have spoken to my heart and I’m thankful for that.
I love that you mentioned how it's possible to enjoy a meal by yourself, I don't know where this idea comes from that eating by yourself automatically means you're lonely, like no, I just want to spend time with myself and eat quietly lol
Ur not alone friend :D and glad I'm not the only one feeling this too.. hope both of us can have a better relationship with food. And thanks so much Rowena for making this vid ❤
Thank you so much for being so open and honest about your relationship with food. Many of us struggle with an unhealthy obsession of calories and food types and NEED more influencers to show its normalcy and call out the need for it to change. This video helps so many of us!
This was extremely helpful! I've been struggling with my relationship with food since I was a teen (and now I am already at my early 20's). I got a lot better after some bad experiences, but I know I still have a way to go (don't we all?!). Videos like these help me keep in mind that food is not an enemy, that's okay to love food and eating, that I should respect my body and care for it. You're my inspiration bc you portray yourself as a real person, learning more each day. Thank you for being human and for showing us that life is a lesson and that it's better when we accept to learn from it.
IE (Intuitive Eating) has changed my life! It's a huge relief to not stress about food anymore. Love the video as always, Ro! And thanks for spreading some IE love.
I'm on my journey to eat intuitively, but to be super honest, I've realized that it has been hard for me to stop eating when I'm full, so then I start wanting to restrict again, etc... But I understand that it is a journey, and soon I'll be able to fully listen to my body, after many years of not listening to it at all! Thanks for this great video
Thank you Rowena! For everything.... just listening your voice, calms me deeply. Plus, I've been trying to get more controlled in my life, and the way you are managing everything and keeping it very balanced, helps me a lot to have some reference on how I want my life to resembles. Thank you a lot, you are a pearl!
thank you so much for this beautiful video ❤️ so many people, including myself, have a really complicated and difficult relationship with food, when it really shouldn't be the case because this is the stuff that's meant to fuel and give us energy to do whatever we want and need to! It's so empowering when people share their experiences and thank you so much for opening up Rowena ❤️ I'm hoping to improve my relationship with food and my body, and watching this came at a very timely manner ❤️
R M Yes ! I relate with you ): u can do this ! You can get through this and start loving food Because truly, we shouldn’t fear food, because eating is normal and it’s not our enemy Sending u lots of love and a healthy life
thank you for sharing your struggles with food. i also had the most complicated relationship with food and eating for the looongest time, and it feels like a relief to know other people have been through similar issues and i wasn’t just...crazy, like my family made me feel. thank you for being you! best of luck.
I am in the process of healing my relationship with food. I have disabilities that make cooking very time-consuming and painful, although it was once therapeutic for me. I know it can't go back to how it was over night, but I'm trying. Videos like this help. It's great to see you taking care of yourself and inspires me to do the same.
This was so helpful! I relate a lot to what you shared about using food as control and trying to be perfect etc. Thank you for sharing your life with us 😍
Plus, your beauty is so unique. I guess the fact your smile is so sincere, brings out a different kind of beauty, a more natural one maybe. Anyway, thats a lot of words just to say you are: simply wonderful.
This was so honest and true. Thanks for sharing. I definitely agree that the time we use for actually cooking food has been forgotten because we're all so "busy" but it's truly a time for self care!
I have a iffy relationship with food as well. I got problems with consuming the really bad stuff, like ice cream, processed snacks, and anything from DoorDash. So I kinda envy your diet style, Rowena. I wish I had your discipline! (And 💛 your videos, btw)
HAHA WHEN THE COOK SCENE, I CAN REALTE TO THE MOMENT. i can't cook, so it's always be my mum who cook for the whole fam and i was like standing there, annoying her for the entire time and wash the dish after
i guess i'll never get tired of listening your voice and to what u have to say! i love how you're talking about your past and current relationship with food ❣️ ahhh still hoping for you to start a podcast 🌻
Bonding over food/cooking is awesome. Back when I lived with my coworker with his four kids for a few months, we would bond at dinner and weekend breakfasts (weekends lunch/dinner varied). Also I would bond with the kids in the kitchen when I was cooking. So it was an awesome experience and I loved it!
I just thought LAST NIGHT "I'd love to see a video from a UA-camr I love about relationships with food"... Ro I'm gonna respectfully request that you stop reading my mind 🔮
Lol my Italian ass was like “WHAAAT??? How dare you??” When I heard “spaghetti, pizza, anything American..” as in like spaghetti and pizza are American dishes lmao I’m so sorry hahahaha I should go to sleep
I stress when I don’t have my phone while I eat because I found myself judging me for eating what I eat, like I could be eating better but thanks for the reminder that food can be a bound to ourselves, food somehow it’s sacred or can be the total opposite. Thanks too much for sharing your experience I know it takes a lot courage to face our relationship with food.
I love the way u enjoy ur time with urself,ur friends and family..i love the way u take care of urself..i learned to love myself, taking care of myself from u..😊
This is amazing thank u ): It’s so sad how everyone, including me, had or had an unhealthy relationship with food Which shouldn’t happen at all, because food is life, we need food to live, It’s a happy thing, it what brings people together, so it shouldn’t be a problem at all It came from wanting to look a certain way, or u need to look a certain way to be considered beautiful, this is bullshit, it’s the end of 2019 Be yourself and love yourself and body Give it the needed nutrition and don’t shut it down, give it what it wants Please, this will lead u no where, be happy with urself, and if u want to change the way u look for YOURSELF, that can happen in such a healthy way. U deserve to be healthy and happy
i related so hard when you got into the “clean eating” and not cooking veggies bc it “killed nutrients.” I’m currently in recovery from anorexia and although i am much better than i previously was months ago, still, all of my healthy eating is my conscious wanting to be skinny and small. as hard as it is to admit, my relationship with food is still not healthy. and to everyone around me, it looks like I’ve recovered so amazingly and now I’m living a healthy life style with fruits and veggies and whole grains, but just because it has healed my physical health, my mental health is still suffering so much.
i long so badly to be able to eat the way you do.. so badly. i've had an eating disorder for the past thirteen(!!!) years which i started receiving treatment for a few months ago. i don't know how long it will take to heal and unlearn the past 13 years and possibly live a happy wholesome life where i can eat in the way you do throughout this video.. i can't wait for that day. one day.
Wow finally a realistic, human “what I eat in a day” video!? No time consuming green juice or smoothie for breakfast??? Wow! I can relate to every aspect of this video! I think food is a big bonding experience especially for Asians. And especially with our parents. And thanks for sharing your experiences: self awareness and your relationship with food, family, friends, and yourself!!
she probably stopped eating meat because she knew that she cut it out for unhealthy reasons and in order to actually eat intuitively she would have to introduce it back into her diet . just my guess though
I almost cried watching this. At 15 I thought I was fat so I put myself on a diet, since I couldn't buy my own food the only thing I could really do was count my calories. I got an app and it told me how much calories I should eat. Green if I was under and red if I went over my suggested calories. So I was determined to stay under, eating 200 calories a meal, drinking water to fill my hungry, which only cause stomach aches on a empty stomach, and exercising every chance I could. I hated my body and would eventually binge eat and gain weight. I now know that isn't the solution.
this video came at just the right time! my mom is crazy about pots and pans and i had no idea what to gift her for xmas and this is perfect!! also! i would love to see future cooking videos!!!
Addition of more veggies, greens, and fruits in your diet is always so much better than eliminating any food group- psychologically reminds you of it and you crave it more! Thanks for such a great video again. You can check Kate Freeman, an Australian nutritionist who focuses more on building good food habits and not going for any elimination diets. You two might become friends very fast! 🍋 🍊 🥬 🌶️
Favorite food? Anything that reminds me of home so either gumbo 🍲 or adobo + lumpia (no emoji close to egg rolls?!) I haven't had a food I didn't like (YET) and I'm up for anything. Have a great day, everyone! 💕
I loved this video!!! I appreciate your honesty with your food issues early on and the need/want to be accepted by others and to look like others!!!! I so loved watching you with your mom. I love love love a good hamburger. A loaded potato bowl. And thin Reese cups!!! Those are my guilty pleasures...thin Reese’s 😂😘🌹
Really loved this video! You're always an inspiration for me. I just wanted to point out that pizza and spaghetti are Italian dishes, definitely not American!
Those cookwares are bomb! It motivates me to cook but I wish I had my own kitchen. Lol. Sharing with people is hard because you don’t know where everything is and that’s so frustrating. Gah!

YOUR OVEN!! yes I’m in that age group where I get excited to see the oven door opens like a normal door
I've actually never seen that before. I was like omG futuristic!
This video was so needed. I've been struggling with food, working out, and body image lately so thank you for this :)

Carla Littlejohn preach!
the moment when your mom rejects you bothersome while you're messing around trying to kiss her is the most relatable (asian) thing ever haha
I felt sad when I saw that lol
Sad tho!!!

Finally Rowena reveal her mother's face
What a nice time cooking with mom...
got me emotional this hits so close to home, so happy that my relationship to food steadily gets healthier and happier
This was a joy to watch. I’ve struggled with food for most of my life, and have also decided now is the time to heal my relationship with eating.
My favourite body food: Sushi.
My favourite eye food: Star Wars
My favourite emotional food: Love.
;)

the lighting, the editing, the interesting info... this video was so well thought out and made!
I have a iffy relationship with food as well. I got problems with consuming the really bad stuff, like ice cream, processed snacks, and anything from DoorDash. So I kinda envy your diet style, Rowena. I wish I had your discipline! (And 💛 your videos, btw)
I totally understand the therapy of cooking alone! It is one of my greatest pleasures in life! 🍕

loving this Video & thanks for your super refreshing and calming thougths about food🥰
I just thought LAST NIGHT "I'd love to see a video from a UA-camr I love about relationships with food"... Ro I'm gonna respectfully request that you stop reading my mind 🔮
This was such an at-peace feeling video. This is the message about food and nourishment I was in need of a reminder of, thank you.
Lol my Italian ass was like “WHAAAT??? How dare you??” When I heard “spaghetti, pizza, anything American..” as in like spaghetti and pizza are American dishes lmao I’m so sorry hahahaha I should go to sleep
They have become extremely Americanized. Pizza from little ceasars is not pizza from an Italian restaurant.
j j yeah right? But it’s ok cuz spaghetti aren’t Italian neither lol... the first to invent “spaghetti” were the Chinese
@@kiokari699 i think she meant Italian pasta (maccheroni, farfalle, penne, spaghetti ecccc)
Noah Noah bro, I know... cuz pasta is italian lol I meant that it’s a “descendant” of Chinese noodle... rice noodles
Noah Noah plus I know quite well what pasta is... I live in Italy hahaha
Hi Rowena’s mom! Such a pleasant surprise to see your mom’s face! As always, an amazing video Rowena 🥰✨

More content like this please, this SERIOUSLY helped x
Man those cristel pots are beautiful! I wish I could afford them!
This is amazing thank u ):
It’s so sad how everyone, including me, had or had an unhealthy relationship with food
Which shouldn’t happen at all, because food is life, we need food to live,
It’s a happy thing, it what brings people together, so it shouldn’t be a problem at all
It came from wanting to look a certain way, or u need to look a certain way to be considered beautiful, this is bullshit, it’s the end of 2019
Be yourself and love yourself and body
Give it the needed nutrition and don’t shut it down, give it what it wants
Please, this will lead u no where, be happy with urself, and if u want to change the way u look for YOURSELF, that can happen in such a healthy way.
U deserve to be healthy and happy
Lovely video! I love how cooking with your mom means she cooks and you annoy her 😉💕
Fun fact: Rooibos is South African 😊 I grew up drinking it💛
Your home reminds me of an IKEA display room and I love it, it looks so cozy and welcoming.
Just what I needed after an anxiety filled day🥰
your mum is so cute. Her reaction to you trying to 'kiss' her is quite typical of Asian or even Chinese mums hahaha!

I'm vegetarian. I'd really like to know why you aren't vegetarian anymore. I'm so curious to listen what you have to say about it
Miharu 97 bro sameeee, I’m wondering too... I’m pesceterian tho
I think if it were me probably just a mental breakdown. Like I just feel so depressed I go to McDonalds and get 20 pc chicken nuggets.

Rooibos! That's a South African staple! Represent!
This is very strange since Cristel is originary near my dad's home. The company is in the middle of nowhere. It is a family shopping trip for me. Very very strange to see them sponsoring a video on the other side of the atlantic. But it is lovely :3. Plus they do make great quality products. And they also provide great cooking lessons according to my dad.
