  • In the late 1950s or early 1960s William "Bill" Edward Krumes constructed this magnificent double neck electric guitar. The body and necks are constructed of a single slab of cherry-red-stained mahogany, with a couple of small wings "seamed" ;P in on the treble bout. One neck is a fairly common 25.5" (640mm) and the other is a stumpy 20" (508mm) scale length, or a Terz neck for all intents and purposes. The pickups, like most of the instrument, are handmade and sound terrific. There are hilarious numbers of weight relieving holes and absurd quantities of ground wires, with none of them actually reaching the strings. Lots of special details went into this guitar, and in overall execution it is on par or better than most low numbers builders.
The 42AWG coils measure between 2.6 and 3.6k ohms and are assisted by small alnico bar magnets, taped to the bases of the blade pole pieces. The resultant sound is one of biting clarity and pushy mids. On the full scale length neck, I prefer the middle position or neck pickup only because the bridge pickup is a little too treble heavy. Having said that, the bridge pickup is the perfect recipe for a lead guitar that needs to cut through the mix.
    It’s a fabulous guitar!
Bill passed away on this day, July 19th last year (2023). RIP. Thanks for the guitar!
