Those are so pretty, well I was out and about today (around your neighborhood) and all I did was notice trees. They are truly lovely. We need more plants and trees everywhere!
You can leave the stem as is if you see additional flowers or mall baby spiders developing. but sometimes they will darken/ dry up which means you can cut them off.😀🪴
Hi there! Yes, we recommend you replace the water every week or so. But use water that has set out for 48 hrs to allow chlorine to evaporate. Hope this helps with your propagation! 😀🪴
I couldn’t see where you cut the plant. What do you do with the long branch hanging off of the mom? What was the opaque thing? What did that mean? I think I am more confused now.
Hi, sorry about the confusion. You can cut off the long stem parts, but keep the knotted root parts … and opaque container is just another name for a solid outer container to keep sunlight from causing algae in water 😀🪴
I always grow several babies in the same pot is this okay. I have hundreds of babies all over the place and all from my first plant about 40 years ago.
Hi there, we use a liquid 20-20-20 April thru September. Alos when watering, we have found that rain water or spring water is great, helps reduce leaf tip burn. Hope this helps 😀🪴
Hi there, spider plants kinda want to be pot bound, and being pot bound kinda sounds like the wrong thing to do for a plant, but when constricted in a pot she will start to send out babies. Also, giving her more light might kick start babies. 😀🪴
I have a problem. A friend said she had babies she didn’t want them so she brought them to me. Welllllll. There are several tiny tiny tiny babies and none of them have roots. Is there anyway to grow them? I have the stem in a bottle of water but I don’t think that will do anything. Maybe cutting them off and laying them in shallow container with pumice and small amt water? I’m sad about this. 😥
Hi, I would try placing the babies in a mini greenhouse ( old tupperware plastic container. You can add a thin layer of vermiculite and cactus soil 50-50 mix. add some water, just enough to get soil mix damp. Then Set babies upright and close lid. Open lid once a week to check and to get fresh air inside mini greenhouse. In several weeks time, they may take, but it's a gamble, I hope this is helpful.😀🪴
@@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN . Thanks so much. I decided to try different methods since there are so many babies. I put two in very shallow water in a shot glass. Some in pumice, some in sand, and some in cactus soil. I left the remainder on the stems and put the stems in a vase with water. I will add your method and as things go, I’ll switch out any that look worse in their environment. They are all healthy looking now but they just had their premature birth yesterday. I told my friend to wait till they have some roots or nubs before cutting them off if she or someone else wants to propagate. All my outdoor plants are suffering in this Oklahoma heat and now I have a nursery to attend to. Lol.
@@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN . Ok. Green house made. Some babies alone, some still attached to the stem with other little froths on it. Hopefully, a lot make it but it will be interesting if any do. Thanks again.
Please tell me how it goes. I love doing propagation on plants, I just propagated a Purple Shamrock petiole that I broke off by accident and it rooted! I hope your spider baby propagation works!!!!! 😀🪴
@@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN .I will. I’m excited myself to see how this works. BTW. I guess spell check changed the word ‘growths’ to ‘froths’ in my last remark! Gotta love it!
Thanks for the feedback. I work hard to improve each of my videos with close up of the plants. And My current videos all have multiple close ups of the various plants I am discussing. OnTalking, well that is vital and I have my own style that many people love, I will not change that, it's who I am. So if my talking head vids is not your vibe, you can go to a static garden website and read plant care /propagation for yourself and be one your way..😀🪴
@@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN please ignore diva . Thry are clearly A diva. making a fuss over an informative video. Your sound quality is good and you were to the point a little close might help but given the number of plants you had on camera i get the distance, you cant always fit closes up in. Great vidro snd kerp it up.
Hi! I would not put in sunny location. It's best to put her in a brightly lit area (800 foot candles) which = approx 4' from west facing window, that will be a good spot. 😀🪴

Very helpful. Like the addition of the top down view. Very well done and informative video. 👍
Glad you liked it! Thanks !😀🪴
Very technique and also cute 😅 oki Doki 😂
Thanks !😀🪴
What happens to the stems of the parent plant after cutting? Do they die or recede back? Or is preventive trimming needed?
You can leave the stem as is if you see additional flowers or mall baby spiders developing. but sometimes they will darken/ dry up which means you can cut them off.😀🪴
Do you change the water during the two month root propigation time?
Hi there! Yes, we recommend you replace the water every week or so. But use water that has set out for 48 hrs to allow chlorine to evaporate. Hope this helps with your propagation! 😀🪴
@@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN Thank you... I'm not propagating yet but all wisdom helps.
Fun fact: nasa uses spider plants because it’s one of the most natural air purifier’s there is.
Cute ❤
thanks!😀🪴
My spider is making new shoots but the "pups" are nowhere near ready. I'll be using your method. Nice plants you have there & a great tutorial!
I am so glad you found it helpful!😀🪴

yayyyy, first comment :)
Can we just leave the spider plant in the water container to grow indefinitely?
Hi you can try, but she may be stunted over time and not grow large. 😀🪴
I always grow several babies in the same pot is this okay. I have hundreds of babies all over the place and all from my first plant about 40 years ago.
Hi! It's totally fine to add a family of spider babies together. No problem.😀🪴
Thankyou. They seem okay. I have so many now I can’t keep up!
Can i transfer the plant directly from soil to water after buying it from the shop?
Sure, If you have a baby with roots already formed from momma plant, yes!😀🪴
What fertilizer you use Sir?,
Hi there, we use a liquid 20-20-20 April thru September. Alos when watering, we have found that rain water or spring water is great, helps reduce leaf tip burn. Hope this helps 😀🪴
Thank you Sir, God’s blessings to you and family
Can I keep it in water and not transfer it to soil? Will it survive?
Yes, you can, I have kept some in water for a long time. But they prefer soil. Hope this was helpful.😀🪴
I’ve had (have) a spider plant for a few years now but no babies yet 😔 why is this?
