  • Hello,
    The world is a beautiful place to explore ! Sometimes we need a instrument to explore the world in its full beautiness. Is the StarScope Monocular a good instrument tough ? Today i will find that out from a astronomical point of view by testing and comparing it with my phone's digital zoom and trusted telescope. Stay till the end to see a attempt of the orion nebula with this monocular.

    When I saw the advertising I guessed they were lying about the zoom.

      Not even on the product itself they mention the actual zoom (the zoom on monocular and binoculars should be before the X mentioned as on some equipment i found. The number after the X is probably the diameter or focal length, bu i am not sure. For telescopes it's different, but this monocular is just misleading in general).
      Thanks alot for watching 👍.

    Thanks for taking your time to make this review video. I was thinking of buying one of these, but there are so many scam merchants on UA-cam. It's kinda sickening actually. However, this product after watching a couple of reviews that say pretty much the same things gives me enough positive feedback to confidently buy one. Because everyone knows how sucky buyer's remorse feels.

      @@williamboyd-cu9ni hi ! Glad to hear you enjoyed this video. I just want to state that the monocular can do 10 times magnification (as demonstrated in the video) It is NOT suited for astronomy, but rather for it's actual intent, wild life and nature. The only issue is that the advertising lies about it's zoom power. Other than that it's a good and cheap monocular.

      @@photonik-luminescence I still haven't made the purchase. I guess I'm just too apprehensive about buyin g products online. I had recently purchased a refracting telescope on ebay for $100. And I am actually more upset with myself than the b.s. company I bought it from, because I looked on youtube and found all this information basically calling it a hobby killer. And the name couldn't be more fitting. I mean I couldn't get it to be still long enough to be able to see anything, not even the big bright moon right overhead. Anyway, thanks again.

      @@williamboyd-cu9ni oh i see. I recommend you choose from more well known companies. I know Bresser, Celestron, Explore Scientific, Seben and other companies. Make sure there is a more in-depth explanation of the telescope in question. Mirror telescopes may be a bit more special because of the mirror. Thanks alot for sharing your experience with me and as always, if you have further questions let me know. One issue I suppose is the fact that you no one can cover all good telescopes. There can be hidden gems.

    Mhmm, to my knowledge the first number normally indicates the magnification, the second number the diameter of the objective lenses.

    • @photonik-luminescence
      @photonik-luminescence  Рік тому +3

      Exactly ! But that is not true for this monocular. After my testing and knowledge with telescopes, it only has a zoom of 10x, no more. 80x zoom is so powerful that you can se venus very well in its crescent phase just like the our moon. So, that's no 80x zoom

    What is the weight? How is it suitable for night view?

    • @photonik-luminescence
      @photonik-luminescence  2 місяці тому +2

      I have scale over 100 grams so unfortunately i can't say pricecly the weight but it is overloading my 100 grams scale. It is however very light and portable no questions asked. As far as visibility at night, there is no advantage of using it. It does NOT amplify light and you only see what you see trough any regular binoculars. Thanks alot for watching and commenting !

    • @nomars4827
      @nomars4827 2 місяці тому +1

      @@photonik-luminescence oh I think it should be around 300grams. But can not find this anywhere.
      It certainly should have an advantage at night in comparison with compact optics with small lenses like 10x25. As it should collect 2.8 times more light. Of course there is much more potent low light optics with exit pupil of 7-8mm. While this has about 4.2mm.
      I can't find something budget compact lightweight with large exit pupil. Something like 4x28 would be ideal . But I found only ACOG scopes and they are very expensive for me.

      @@nomars4827 I see. Yes, this is indeed similar to how telescopes collect light. It's just that i personally don't really see any better with it. It doesn't darken the image, wich would have been bad. It is a pretty nifty monocular. The zoom simply is the the only decieving part. It only has X10 zoom. The monocular does what it does really well. Also ,may i know your implication scenario of this monocular ?

    the lens isn't 100mm right ? it's a scam

    • @photonik-luminescence
      @photonik-luminescence  9 місяців тому +3

      Exactly, it is a scam. I have a actual 300mm telescope, and this isn't eaven 1/3rd of it. Also, it's misdlabeled. I know that on monoculars or binoculars, first number indicates the zoom (which here us decieving). I mean, it still works tough and is pretty ok for its price. Just don't expect anything spectacular from it

  • @stechanina3631

    The lens is between 50 and 60 mm not 100 ,il’s a lie for sure

    • @photonik-luminescence
      @photonik-luminescence  5 місяців тому +1

      Absolutely. It does offer a x10 optical zoom but that's really it. It simply decievs unfamiliarised people that don't know much about zooming and buy it because the ads claim they have "x80" zoom. It's good for simple things as bird watching or a bit of landscape viewing or whatever other applications

    you should also wonder about the 100 of the "80x100" information. easy to see it is an other lie

    • @photonik-luminescence
      @photonik-luminescence  11 місяців тому +2

      Yes i did. Especially since the first number should represent the zoom and second the diameter. (Which both are fake) i would assume they actually wanted it to sound more interesting. But it is entirely decieving. I think the entire no brand binocular and phobe telephoto lens are a lie. This one seems to be a pretty common one tough. Deep in the description they do memtion that it only has x10 zoom. But i found this fact to not always be mentioned.
