  • In this video, I wanted to do a review on a product I've come to rely on around the homestead. That product of course, is the Vortex 10x25 Solo Monocular. I have a set of Binos as well but I really wanted to something compact and lightweight for a decent price I could stash in a cargo pocket or in a back and still get the job done.

      very good point. what did you do with your in the last 9 months?
      you have to play with the eye relief, extend it right out. do you wear glasses? you'll have to take them off.
      even with full extension on eye relief it mat not be enough to get the focus point!
      Tip: i dont extend the eye relief and hold the monocular with a fist grasp but with my index finger overhanging the eyepiece. I stick my fist into my eyesocket and use my index finger to adjust the eye relief as it rests against my eyebrow/cheek.
      the monocular is really $20 garbage. the review should show its many limitations.

    Great review!! I had one on order from Amazon when I watched your video. When I got it I noticed the build quality and clarity were very good. The whole idea for me to buy this was for deer hunting. I wanted something compact and light to 'ease up" to my eye with one hand. As you said, the problem is you have to use two hands to use the focus ring. The ring is tight and hard to turn as well as the location is not good. I understand you do not want it too loose but it is a bit much. Kinda defeats the purpose of being able to use it with one hand. My compact Nikon "Trail Blazer" binoculars allow you to hold and focus with one hand due to the location and ease of turning the focus wheel. The eye relief/view is much quicker as well. The Trail Blazer also folds in and is very compact. It weighs twice as much as the Solo but still fits into the chest pocket of my shirt. I put the strap around my neck and the weight is not an issue. It works well for my needs. The Solo will be going back today.

    • @PalmettoPrepared
      @PalmettoPrepared  Рік тому +1

      Yep. That ring drove me nuts for about a year. After plenty of use it does lighten up considerably. I use it primarily for turkey season. So much easier now that it's "broken in" but that ring really almost was a deal breaker

      @@PalmettoPrepared I actually quite using the case for the same reason. Honestly I don't think it offers much protection outside of small bumps. I just slide it in my admin pouch. I don't even know if I got the original case anyone. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    I really loved your review of this product and I am considering this one or this one "Nocs Provisions Zoom Tube 8x32 Monocular Telescope". Do you know anything about the zoomtube? I'm almost sold on the vortex but from what I've read, an 8x is easier to view your subject due it being hard to hold it still at 10x. Any input would be appreciated

      I bought this with a budget in mind. For super long rifle distances, then a legit scout scope is worth it. For just everyday hanging out and wantint to look at stuff 300 feet away. This works well for that and doesnt break the bank
