That's awesome. What was your starting number? I've got autoimmune disease, looks like lupus, but in middle of tests right now. My kidneys have atrophied but they are working better, went from 3 to 2, but really want to get up to 90. Not sure it's possible until I can stop the attack from the immune system.
Hello James! Im confused with what rice i should be eating the most of...White? Brown? Jasmine or Basmati? Love your channel and i look forward to the lives on Tuesday! Thanks for all you're doing.

Hello sir it's so good to see that you are progressing from your kidney disease I actually had a doubt so I am 17 years old and I used to exercise vigourously that I used to get dehydrated .one day when I was exercising I got dehydrated then when I started drinking water I noticed that I was urinating very less the next day I got up and I urinated once properly bout around 12:30 in the morning I started feeling sick and the amount of urination was very less the whole day I felt fatigue and tired but I didn't have any other symptoms so the next day I was feeling better but I noticed that the amount of How much I used to urinate had changed it had become lesser than what I used to urinate . Before the incident I used to have frequent urination but after that incident the amount of How much I used to urinate changed it became lesser and I no longer had frequent urination but that's the only symptom I have been experiencing no other symptoms like nausea, fatigue vomiting nothing just reduced urinary input earlier I could do 50 burpees this has been happening since a month if you have time please read this comment and kindly reply may god bless you
This needs to be checked by your doctor - and a family doctor should be able to determine if you have any kidney issues. I'm not a doctor and this could be caused by a number of things, so a quick check by a doctor will help you determine the cause. If it is kidney issues, it could be Acute which is temporary. This could be a good time to make sure you don't have any bad habits that can lead to or accelerate kidney damage. Here is a video of 18 bad habits to make sure you are avoiding ua-cam.com/video/fAob_OJgQ2M/v-deo.html
I am experiencing a kidney disease and now I have a cough for 2 weeks after I had a flu/common cold. Is it a possible complication of having this due to weakened immune system?
A cough is one of the possible symptoms of very low kidney function. I had one which was just awful. I was only able to get it under control when I took a very hot shower with lots of steam in the air...then it would come back shortly after that. When I was in the ICU it was very difficult to get ultrasounds due to my constant cough. My recommendation is to reach out to your family doctor and have them check you out - and they may want to do labs to see how your kidneys are doing. The earlier we can detect problems, the greater the chance we can take corrective action. Good luck Els!
It is a form of activated charcoal that has been shown to help with the absorption of certain Uremic toxins. It works different than Renadyl, though both end up allow you to pass certain waste products when you go to the bathroom. It's great that you have a doctor looking at other ways to help treat your kidney disease and that you meet the requirements for this type of treatment. I had asked my doctor about this in the past, but I'm not a fit for it. Make sure and get labs before and after you do a trial so that you can know just what and how it impacted you. And most importantly, make sure and work closely with your doctor and follow ALL of his/her directions with using something like this. Report any issues to your doctor right away in case they need to have you stop using it.
Dr. Put me on sodium bicarbonate twice per days. What does this do. 4 months on renadyl and 2 months on sodium bicarbonate, get test results Wednesday. Blood pressure great 160 lb male 6 ft tall. Phosphorus, who knows gfr last time 25 up from 16.
Sodium Bicarbonate is very common with lower GFRs - it is pretty much "Baking Soda". You've probably see all the other videos touting baking soda as a cure...which it isn't. But for many kidney patients are body doesn't create enough sodium bicarbonate and we need to supplement it with the tablets. It helps make your blood less acidic and can slow the progression of CKD. Keep taking them as long as your doctor instructs you. Once you no longer need them as a supplement, taking them will not be beneficial - so be careful of all the false "cures" that encourage people who don't need them to take them. I'm glad to see your GFR is up to 25!!! Most people can live with NO SYMPTOMS with a GFR in the 20s. Do you have any symptoms currently? If you do, ask your doctor how to eliminate those - it was life changing for me when I had no more symptoms. Absolutely life changing!
Thanks James, new test results ,drum roll, 30 GFR, 2.09 Creatine. Thanks to your diet, renadyl, salvia, sodium bicarbonate, who knows. I'm happy. GFR started 16 in December, to 25, 22, 26, March to 30,. Walking 2 miles today,. Thank you, your the man.
When it comes to foods - it is all about PORTION. If you have high potassium, you would have to limit the amount of high potassium foods you eat (such as avocados or bananas), but you wouldn't need to limit them completely.
Definitely don’t agree with the whole grains. Especially if you have IGA NEPHROPATHY. People have reversed CKD by eliminating all wheat/gluten from their diets and by doing so they have brought down inflammation in the kidneys and the body in general. I eliminated oats, wheat, rye, barley and just stuck with white rice and very occasionally some white bread. Also consumed white potatoes and maybe rice noodles. Brought my creatinine levels way down and my gfr up doing so. It works!
You have to remember he is not a Doctor. He is just providing us with information that can guide us to a better life style while having CKD. Overall, high volumes of potassium is not good for us with CKD. There is a ton of stuff on the internet and the Tube that will break it down even futher.
taltezy29 I do know he is not a Dr.and I respect him for what he is doing as he is so helpful and that is why I asked him the question because my Nephrologist has me taking 20 MEQ Tablets twice a day. I didn’t know all about potassium to ask my Dr. why She has me taking potassium and I thought I could have more knowledge to ask at my next appointment. I didn’t mean to offend him .
@@lanehembree3020 I like getting info like this because it makes me want to call my doctor and ask them why aren't they telling me things like this. I am in the process of trying to find another specialist because I want someone to explain to me why things are the way they are. My doctor thinks I'm "ok" because my GFR is at 62. I don't want to be ok, I want this to go away or closer to the 90 percent tile.
It's important to realize it isn't the FOOD (outside of things like black licorice and star fruit) that are dangerous - it is when you get TOO much of certain nutrients. You can eat Bananas and Avocado's as long as you don't exceed your daily maximum set by your health care team based on your labs. Many people are far too restrictive by completely cutting out certain foods, when in reality it is all about portion control.
I haven't had labs recently due to the coronavirus, but my last labs where at the start of January and I was Stage 3 with a GFR of 33. More importantly (because the number and stage doesn't say too much) is that I have tons of energy, feel amazing, and have NO symptoms - not a single one!!!! I've continued to improve and I can't wait to get labs again once the hospitals are back closer to normal.
