Pretty much the quintessential perfect 90's romantic comedy. It's a time capsule of a very specific few years of American culture, and yet the story and acting is absolutely timeless. The pain that Hanks' character is going through, the relationship with his son, the sympathetic emptiness in Meg Ryan knowing she's with the wrong guy but listening to someone she connects with and never met, the fun caper of the kids writing the letter and setting up the meet on Valentine's...It's amazing and could only have been made in the 90s though.
The Midnight is the definition of nostalgia....
