Beautiful video, all true. Just little correction: people don't make 300 - 400 € here long ago. The minimal salary is 840€ (960 € confirmed from 1st of Jan, 2024) but only low quality job pay minimal wage and just 9% of population work for minimal (according statistics 2023). Average salary is 2000 € (minus taxes). But if you a doctor, manager, IT, engineer, qualified worker or an owner of business you get 3 k +. I mean pay is definitely lower than in Western Europe but not as low as you mentioned. The rest you mentioned is correct. Thank you, Mark - love your channel! ❤

Service is great. It may be a culture shock for an American, and it would seem that service is "lazy" or what not, but I and most Lithuanians hate when waitress or waiter interrupt us every minute or so during our meal. "Do you want a drink? Do you want that or this?" No, I will call you up if I need anything, let me eat at peace.

I have an amusing experience that connects with a bunch of stuff Wolter brings up in this video. In 2004, me, my dear late aunt, my mom, sister and a cousin were on a small bus tour of Lithuania. We actually watched the Olympic basketball game in a pub in Palanga the night the Lithuanians beat the US. It was amazing. Chaos and Pandemonium on the boardwalk! But, the most marvelous thing on the trip was the beauty of Lithuania. Both the landscape and the ladies. Listening to my sister and (female) cousin comment on "supermodels" waiting at ordinary bus stops as our tour drove us around is something I still chuckle about.

I wish I could have had the cosmopolitan upbringing that your kids are enjoying. My family never really travelled when I was growing up, and I rarely got to travel outside of town until my teenage years. I'm 38 and still haven't been outside the southeastern United States. Your sons are very lucky and are having a charmed childhood that just about any kid could only dream of having.

I know someone originally from this country. I met her online through a fandom and we're both artists. She does youtube and when I first heard her voice, I could detect an accent, but I couldn't figure out what kind it was. I soon got the answer. Lol, she's currently living in England with her boyfriend (they've been together for 10 years now), but she will occasionally go back to Lithuania to visit family, especially during the summer. She says one thing she misses about her home country is the food and she loves a type of cake that can only be found there. It's a honey cake. Sounds so good. Very sweet person and so soft spoken too.

I was in Lithuania from 5th July to 9th July. To get from Riga to Vilnius I did a whole day sightseeing tour that had 4 stops along the way (Hill of crosses and Kaunas in Lithuania). It was a great way to get between the capitals and see places outside of them with minimal effort. Other than those, I just stayed in Vilnius (+visited Trakai for half a day). From there I got a bus on to Warsaw which was about 7 hours - it arrived about 40 mins earlier than the advertised time which was great, and the seat next to me was empty the whole way so I could get really comfortable

Also Lithuania has a lot of Mannors (in Plungė, Pakruojis to name a few). Also, visit Merkinė dome, it's a very interesting place. Also there are a lot of educational experiences for adults and kids in small villages and plenty in towns from Šakotis baking, Bread making to educations about local plants (Panėkelpiai). So, if you are into nature, sustainability, there are plenty of things to do.

Thanks for video. I have a question. Excuse me but I can't understand what you are talking about when you say that some people in Lithuania make 300 - 400€ per month. I just checked statistics and I see that the minimum salary in Lithuania in 2023 is €633 after taxes and average salary €1242 after taxes

Info about wages in Lithuania is rather outdated . First quarter of 2023 average wage in Lithuania was €1,959 before taxes and €1,218 after taxes
Wages went up , and so are the prices .

the ones younger than 40 - speak at a quite good level, the ones between 40 - 60 - more likely to speak in big cities rather than small villages and at a lower level, the ones older than 60 - usually do not speak or understand any English
