We all watched this video numerous times and practiced this course just as many in order to prepare our son for his road test here in Surprise. He ended up passing his test with zero points deducted! He aced it! This video was so helpful and the course the tester took him on was exactly the course shown in this video. Thank you so much for posting this. The 3 point turn portion of the test is truly done in a very confined area (as stated in this video). During practice sessions we witnessed many other “practicers” in mid-sized cars struggling in this part of the course. Fortunately our son took his test in a little Honda Fit and he had no problems.

Just took my driving test today and I passed! No three point turn or parallel parking. The lady I had was actually really nice. I went on the same exact route. I had to park 3:22 on the video (turn left and pull into the parking lot. You can park wherever you want and make as many adjustments as you want) You can make as many adjustments as needed. It was really easy and then just keep going on this same route. Thank you for this video!
I passed the test. No three pint turn or parallel. Had to pull into the park (about 3 minutes into the video), chose any side to park (I chose left), and I parked perfectly. This video helped me so much with passing my road test today, thanks! Like everyone has said, it's the exact same route except for the left turn into the park and parking into a spot. There was no three point turn for me. It's a really easy road test, you just need to make sure that you relax and don't rush. Going through the route six times the day before the test really helped me. I also got extremely lucky because I was able to take a right onto Bell without any oncoming traffic coming from the left.
I just took my drivers test yesterday and I was very nervous and I thought to look up a video cause maybe one of them would show me the route to drive on so I could at least practice before I took it and it led me to your video. So and hour before my test I went through the route that you followed and it made me less nervous to take my drivers test. I took my road test today, July 12th, and this video really helped (I passed). The lady instructor that I got took me on the exact course. It depends on what instructor you get. I took my test today after watching your video multiple times, and It made me very comfortable when they took me on the same route. I managed to pass on the first time taking this test! However for anyone going to take it soon they did NOT have me do a three-point turn. Instead, my instructor, had me pull to the side of the road and park, then pull back into the lane and continue driving.

Thanks for doing this video. Even after 4 years it is still relevant. I took my road test on Tuesday 8/9/2022 with an authorized third party MVD in Surprise. The same routes except for the Parallel parking that I did. I passed! Thanks again, you are the best!
@@Shook.mp16 if get the parallel parking right which usually takes place at the back of the complex, you should be good. Just watch the video posted and drive the route to get familiar with it.
Hello I just took my test today , and they actually took out the three point turn in surprise. They just make you park in a parking lot that’s on the way. But thank you for your help I was able to pass !
i took my test today and passed! i did this exact route and i had to pull into the parking lot at the park on the left and i got two chances to park and you can adjust as much as you need to, super easy! and no 3 point turn :)
My test is tomorrow at 3:30, practiced the 3 point turn on 2 separate occasions and was able to do it 5 times in a row, this vid was really helpful, thank you!!!
I passed! And yes they took the 3 point turn out of the test. The MVD guy even trolled me about it at the front desk lol. Just park in a random parking spot making as many adjustments as needed. Passed with a perfect score
I passed my driving test 😃. They took me the exact same route as in the video. I didn't have to do the 3 point turn but instead they replaced it with you having to pull over on the right side of the road. Thank you so much for this helpful video
This video helped alot! Like other poeple are saying, no three point turn and they make you turn into the first entrance of the park and from there they make you park anywhere you want! Its honestly very easy as long as you practice that same route several times (:

Just took my test on Friday and passed. I had the exact same route the only thing that was different was that they told me to turn into the parks parking lot and just park in any spot there’s no 3 point turn though. Thank you !

I as well went one street further up bell. I think it might depend in the instructor. It was good practice though. A reminder is to make sure your stops are long enough. That's how I failed. I'm testing again tomorrow so I'll update how that goes and where I went.
Haley McClanahan strange, they are the only DMV I know of that changes their route.. either way the laws are the same on all AZ roads. It might make you feel bad to fail the test for incomplete stops, but at least it's better than getting a $400 ticket from a cop + $200 dollar traffic school+ insurance premium increase! There is no AZ law that requires anyone to stop for a specific amount of time, just that you actually stop. A lot of drivers in AZ think slowing down is the same thing as stopping, unfortunately, it's not. The first thing a cop ever pulled me over for was an incomplete stop when I was 16. At least you can do that 3 point turn there, that's a tight one.
Branden Carnahan yeah it's pretty wierd how it changes but it goes through the same neighborhood. Today I went back and stopped for longer and he said it was good so I got it today, I didn't have to do the 3 point turn again though luckily 😂😂😂
i took my test this morning and this is correct!! the only thing different is there is no 3 point turn and instead you turn left into the park on the 15 mile an hour road!!

just took my test today and passed but they had me take a left on dysart then left on greenway and then left on grand then right back to dysart. Thanks for the helpful video though!
I took my road test and I thought I post a comment to let everyone know about certain changes. They didn't make me do the three point turn. We did go on the same streets in the video, but they made me park on the right side of the road (Santa Fe Drive). I asked the driving instructor about the changes and they said "we're trying new things out". Btw, I passed
hahaha I took my road test at this location today and I got pulled over half way through the test 💀💀 it was after i got finished doing the parking portion and was about to exit, but there was an officer parked the parking lot and he started following and when i left he went 🚨 my proctor didn’t notice at first but i told her if that was for me and she was like uuuh huh yeah pull over when you exit. then when i park the car, the police officer comes up and was like “do you know it’s suspicious to have two different license plates on the front than the back?” and I didn’t know because it was my brothers old car hah. I didn’t get anything though and i told the officer I was in the middle of the test and he laughed 😂 i was able to continue the test and the proctor and i was weak driving back 😂😂💀
oh and the parking portion is at the left turn into the park at around 3:20 . they just have you park at any spot you want with how many adjustments you are satisfied with lol
I take my test Tomorrow afternoon and mostly worried about the three point turn- I did it in a bigger (normal sized) car but the car I’m taking the test is a spark- very smaller. Hopefully I come back and update you, I’m very anxious about it and I hope I can convince someone to take me to practice it a bit more tonight. I did it in the normal sized car in 2 attempts without help, the part that is kinda messing me up with the smaller car is the backing up beforehand Bc it is such a small car you cannot just turn the wheel like you normally would, it is that small.

I followed a road test on the route they took, to film this. I have had a couple of people comment that there's 2 routes. Either way, if you know driving laws, it doesn't matter what the exact roads are, they all have the same rules. I have a video called "how to drive without breaking any AZ laws" which you might find helpful. I also have one called "how to 3 point turn." My personal experience with the surprise DMV is that they are some of the least professional and worst customer service. (Again, just my experience, yours may vary.) I would say it's WELL worth it to drive the extra 15 minutes to 59th ave and Bell road, to the Glendale DMV, which I also have a video on.. The 3 point turn in surprise is ridiculously small and the Glendale one is way bigger. If you can't do that, they don't even take you on the road test, so make sure you practice enough that you can do it 10x in a row before attempting to take the road test. Best of luck!
@@garrettgomez0202 potentially, if you make a complete mess of it and hit a car, or end up way over the lines. Just remember to swing out wide, away from your spot as you approach. Move as far as possible away from the spot.. (If you're parking on the left side, move ALL the way to the right, as far as you can,) Then as you get really close to the spot, keep your speed SLOW and dive into the spot, trying to keep at least a foot from the lines. Make rapid corrections on the wheel while keeping the car rolling at tip toe speed. If you suck at this, get up early and do it 20 times before the test so you don't go through the whole test and cheese it at the end. It only takes like 20 times to master the technique for a lifetime. Just practice practice practice!
hello, i took my road test yesterday and failed because i was going 25 in a school zone. at the turn where it was a weird angle when you took a right, they made me take a left and then make me take a right and then straight where the school zone was. any help?
Thank you for the update. I need to remake this with the new route. It is true that even +1mph in a school zone is an automatic fail. Normally it's +5mph = -10points. +10 over = fail, but the school zones it's +1mph because cops write huge tickets for +1 over in school zones in real life. Good luck next time. Better to learn it on a driving test than learn it from a cop. 👍
@@Pxpaio don't speed in school zones. Even 1mph over is an automatic ticket from the cops. If no speed sign posted, speed limit stays the same. If there is a sign out in front of the school that says a speed, do not exceed the speed limit. Even if no sign, but kids in crosswalk, go under 15mph
Do you recommend the Surprise or Scottsdale rode test? I’m going in about a week and a half to do a drivers test and I need to call really soon to set up my appointment
Madi Grace Scottsdale is pretty simple, just don't speed, make complete stops and take the right on red @ Scottsdale rd super carefully and you'll be fine. Remember, right on red is optional, not mandatory, so if you want to just sit there til the light turns green, that's perfectly legal in all 50 states. Surprise is very similar, just right turns and stop signs. But their 3pt turn is super tight. If you're good at 3pt turns, do surprise. If you're worried about 3point turn, do Scottsdale. They are opposite directions in the 3 point turn though. Scottsdale has you enter to the right, surprise is left hand. Just practice a lot before the test. get it 100% you'll do fine. good luck! thx 4 watching

The hand signals and blinkers/horn test isn't a quiz, it's basic requirements you're supposed to know before driving on public roads. They can't dock you points for that, officially they can only subtract points during the road test for moving violations. Some people have commented that there seems to be two routes at Surprise test. Maybe one day I'll have to go back and film both.
Branden Carnahan well idk what happen the lady I was with wasn’t nice enough to tell me what I did wrong only that I sped 5 over the speed limit, so idk how else I would have gotten points docked also the test is now scored as 0 to 20 is passing and going over 20 is failing
@@SettTopsMe it's still on a scale of 100 total and need 80+ to pass. (Same thing as 20 points total) I've noticed a couple employees at the surprise DMV are raunchy douchebags. Some of the most unprofessional staff I've seen. Did you pass?
Brandon felipe the Surprise DMV and Mesa DMV are the hardest 3 pt. turns. it's only an extra 15 minutes to drive down bell to the Glendale Dmv, their 3pt turn is huge.
In a school zone, 1 mph over is an automatic fail. Also in real life, 1mph over in a school zone is a ticket. On the rest of the test, +5mph is 10 pts off. +10 is automatic fail. 80/100 is minimum passing score
Nope. They're just giving licenses out like candy. All you do is that 5 minute road test and you're good to go. Just don't speed and run stop signs, it's almost impossible to fail now.
Good question. It's not officially part of the road test, but Surprise and Maryvale DMV pretty much do their own thing. Who knows what they're doing now? Better make sure to practice your parking skills if you're worried about the parking at the end.
WindWakerss Ponce the rules are the same in every city. it's not so much about knowing the route, but knowing the law. don't speed, make complete stops, Those 2 things are the most common reasons people fail. I have a video called how to drive without breaking any AZ laws. pretty much everything on the tests is in there. you can always camp out at the DMV and follow a road test to learn the route...
hannah proby don't stall it:) just make sure you're 100 percent on your 3point and parking. I would strongly recommend going to Glendale DMV on Bell and 59th if youre not comfortable with the 3pt. it's MUCH larger area in Glendale. Both road tests are super easy, just don't speed, make complete stops. Be sure of who has the right of way before you make turns.

I unfortunately failed driver's test 3 hours ago due to going 3 over in the school zone behind the MVD don't make the same mistake I did go the speed or 1-2 under
Better to hear it from the DMV than to get a $600 fine from a cop. Zero tolerance in school zones and residential for speeding in AZ. Better luck next time! Let us know when you pass.
The route being identical is not as important as knowing the road rules. Those are the same everywhere. Just don't speed or run stop signs and you're probably fine. Some people have commented that a random dmv employee gave them an unusual route with different turns but they usually are just all right turns like the video. Good luck!
Hey, I have another question. I have a big truck and I taking the drivers license soon. I have practiced and practiced at my local DMV and I cannot seem to get it. I think my truck I am taking the test in may be to big to pass the three point turn. Any suggestions on what I should do? I’ve seen cars do it and i am doing the exact same thing, except my truck is way longer than the average car.
WindWakerss Ponce don't do it in a truck. borrow the smallest car you can. Glendale and Scottsdale dmv's have huge 3 point turn areas, you can do those with a truck. I don't know that it's even possible with a large vehicle in mesa or surprise or Avondale.

Nobody has posted specific route yet. They just said it's different. Either way, what's most important is knowing the road laws, that way you can pass any test.

I am very grateful for this video. Although, as of last week, they do not do the three point turns nor do they do the parallel parking. I failed this test at East Olympic Drive MVD, had a terrible instructor. I must say I did not hit nor touch any cones at my attempt. I made a single mistake because I didn’t understand completely the instruction. (English is my second language and English is the only language you can get for the practical/drive test) I failed the test because as I while I was doing the reverse maneuver my car crossed an “invisible” line that extends the white lines you see in the video. As soon as I did that she told me to stop and put my car in parking, afterwards telling me I just “unpassed the test and that I needed to reschedule”. My thought process was “as long as I don’t hit any cones or correct my direction more than twice I’ll pass”. Wrong. I have an appointment at a different facility tomorrow. Time to apply the lesson I learned. Hope some one gets something useful out of this comment.

Branden Carnahan yeah it's pretty wierd how it changes but it goes through the same neighborhood. Today I went back and stopped for longer and he said it was good so I got it today, I didn't have to do the 3 point turn again though luckily 😂😂😂
i took my test this morning and this is correct!! the only thing different is there is no 3 point turn and instead you turn left into the park on the 15 mile an hour road!!

I have my test this Thursday and is it 100% confirmed there's no 3 point turn? I've been practicing and just saw this video and stumbled upon comments on this video saying they didn't have to do a 3 point turn.
Stephanie Valencia there is no three point turn it is very very easy. the only thing i recommend is driving the whole thing before taking the test

I took my road test and I thought I post a comment to let everyone know about certain changes. They didn't make me do the three point turn. We did go on the same streets in the video, but they made me park on the right side of the road (Santa Fe Drive). I asked the driving instructor about the changes and they said "we're trying new things out". Btw, I passed

hahaha I took my road test at this location today and I got pulled over half way through the test 💀💀 it was after i got finished doing the parking portion and was about to exit, but there was an officer parked the parking lot and he started following and when i left he went 🚨 my proctor didn’t notice at first but i told her if that was for me and she was like uuuh huh yeah pull over when you exit. then when i park the car, the police officer comes up and was like “do you know it’s suspicious to have two different license plates on the front than the back?” and I didn’t know because it was my brothers old car hah. I didn’t get anything though and i told the officer I was in the middle of the test and he laughed 😂 i was able to continue the test and the proctor and i was weak driving back 😂😂💀
oh and the parking portion is at the left turn into the park at around 3:20 . they just have you park at any spot you want with how many adjustments you are satisfied with lol

I take my test Tomorrow afternoon and mostly worried about the three point turn- I did it in a bigger (normal sized) car but the car I’m taking the test is a spark- very smaller. Hopefully I come back and update you, I’m very anxious about it and I hope I can convince someone to take me to practice it a bit more tonight. I did it in the normal sized car in 2 attempts without help, the part that is kinda messing me up with the smaller car is the backing up beforehand Bc it is such a small car you cannot just turn the wheel like you normally would, it is that small.
Try backing up straight for a couple feet, then turn. Best of luck!

I've gotten a lot of comments that they stopped doing it sometime in 2018. As far as I know none of the public DMVs do it anymore.

Taking my test tomorrow afternoon. I'm kinda scared of the 3 point turn. Few questions: are the routes very similar to this video in surprise and do you fail the test for messing up parking?
I followed a road test on the route they took, to film this.
I have had a couple of people comment that there's 2 routes.
Either way, if you know driving laws, it doesn't matter what the exact roads are, they all have the same rules.
I have a video called "how to drive without breaking any AZ laws" which you might find helpful.
I also have one called "how to 3 point turn."
My personal experience with the surprise DMV is that they are some of the least professional and worst customer service. (Again, just my experience, yours may vary.)
I would say it's WELL worth it to drive the extra 15 minutes to 59th ave and Bell road, to the Glendale DMV, which I also have a video on..
The 3 point turn in surprise is ridiculously small and the Glendale one is way bigger. If you can't do that, they don't even take you on the road test, so make sure you practice enough that you can do it 10x in a row before attempting to take the road test.

@@garrettgomez0202 potentially, if you make a complete mess of it and hit a car, or end up way over the lines.
Just remember to swing out wide, away from your spot as you approach. Move as far as possible away from the spot..
(If you're parking on the left side, move ALL the way to the right, as far as you can,)
Then as you get really close to the spot, keep your speed SLOW and dive into the spot, trying to keep at least a foot from the lines.
Make rapid corrections on the wheel while keeping the car rolling at tip toe speed.
If you suck at this, get up early and do it 20 times before the test so you don't go through the whole test and cheese it at the end.
It only takes like 20 times to master the technique for a lifetime. Just practice practice practice!
hello, i took my road test yesterday and failed because i was going 25 in a school zone. at the turn where it was a weird angle when you took a right, they made me take a left and then make me take a right and then straight where the school zone was. any help?

It is true that even +1mph in a school zone is an automatic fail. Normally it's +5mph = -10points. +10 over = fail, but the school zones it's +1mph because cops write huge tickets for +1 over in school zones in real life. Good luck next time.

@@Pxpaio don't speed in school zones. Even 1mph over is an automatic ticket from the cops.
If no speed sign posted, speed limit stays the same. If there is a sign out in front of the school that says a speed, do not exceed the speed limit. Even if no sign, but kids in crosswalk, go under 15mph
Do you recommend the Surprise or Scottsdale rode test? I’m going in about a week and a half to do a drivers test and I need to call really soon to set up my appointment
Madi Grace Scottsdale is pretty simple, just don't speed, make complete stops and take the right on red @ Scottsdale rd super carefully and you'll be fine.
Remember, right on red is optional, not mandatory, so if you want to just sit there til the light turns green, that's perfectly legal in all 50 states.
Surprise is very similar, just right turns and stop signs. But their 3pt turn is super tight.
If you're good at 3pt turns, do surprise. If you're worried about 3point turn, do Scottsdale.
They are opposite directions in the 3 point turn though. Scottsdale has you enter to the right, surprise is left hand. Just practice a lot before the test. get it 100% you'll do fine.

Branden Carnahan love it! Thank you. This is great timing, my road test in August 7 either in Surprise or Glendale. (I live off of Happy Valley) and these videos are a big help.
I had a different route plus they quized me on hand signs and other car functions, if you miss some questions wrong here they will dock points
The hand signals and blinkers/horn test isn't a quiz, it's basic requirements you're supposed to know before driving on public roads.
They can't dock you points for that, officially they can only subtract points during the road test for moving violations.
Some people have commented that there seems to be two routes at Surprise test. Maybe one day I'll have to go back and film both.
Branden Carnahan well idk what happen the lady I was with wasn’t nice enough to tell me what I did wrong only that I sped 5 over the speed limit, so idk how else I would have gotten points docked also the test is now scored as 0 to 20 is passing and going over 20 is failing

I've noticed a couple employees at the surprise DMV are raunchy douchebags. Some of the most unprofessional staff I've seen.

Brandon felipe the Surprise DMV and Mesa DMV are the hardest 3 pt. turns. it's only an extra 15 minutes to drive down bell to the Glendale Dmv, their 3pt turn is huge.

In a school zone, 1 mph over is an automatic fail. Also in real life, 1mph over in a school zone is a ticket.
On the rest of the test, +5mph is 10 pts off.
+10 is automatic fail.

Nope. They're just giving licenses out like candy. All you do is that 5 minute road test and you're good to go. Just don't speed and run stop signs, it's almost impossible to fail now.

Good question. It's not officially part of the road test, but Surprise and Maryvale DMV pretty much do their own thing. Who knows what they're doing now?

don't speed, make complete stops, Those 2 things are the most common reasons people fail.

you can always camp out at the DMV and follow a road test to learn the route...

just make sure you're 100 percent on your 3point and parking. I would strongly recommend going to Glendale DMV on Bell and 59th if youre not comfortable with the 3pt. it's MUCH larger area in Glendale.
Both road tests are super easy, just don't speed, make complete stops. Be sure of who has the right of way before you make turns.

The route being identical is not as important as knowing the road rules. Those are the same everywhere.
Just don't speed or run stop signs and you're probably fine.
Some people have commented that a random dmv employee gave them an unusual route with different turns but they usually are just all right turns like the video. Good luck!
Hey, I have another question. I have a big truck and I taking the drivers license soon. I have practiced and practiced at my local DMV and I cannot seem to get it. I think my truck I am taking the test in may be to big to pass the three point turn. Any suggestions on what I should do? I’ve seen cars do it and i am doing the exact same thing, except my truck is way longer than the average car.
WindWakerss Ponce don't do it in a truck. borrow the smallest car you can.
Glendale and Scottsdale dmv's have huge 3 point turn areas, you can do those with a truck. I don't know that it's even possible with a large vehicle in mesa or surprise or Avondale.

Nick, just practice it a lot. It may be tight, but youll get it. If you can't, just go an extra 10 minutes to glendale V. Much bigger and easier.

I am very grateful for this video. Although, as of last week, they do not do the three point turns nor do they do the parallel parking. The only thing they made her do was turn into a parking lot and park in a normal parking spot. We did, however, practice the three point turn, before hand, which enabled her to do the parking spot much better, she said. Again, thank you so much, this was so helpful!

I failed this test at East Olympic Drive MVD, had a terrible instructor. I must say I did not hit nor touch any cones at my attempt. I made a single mistake because I didn’t understand completely the instruction. (English is my second language and English is the only language you can get for the practical/drive test) I failed the test because as I while I was doing the reverse maneuver my car crossed an “invisible” line that extends the white lines you see in the video. As soon as I did that she told me to stop and put my car in parking, afterwards telling me I just “unpassed the test and that I needed to reschedule”. My thought process was “as long as I don’t hit any cones or correct my direction more than twice I’ll pass”. Wrong. I have an appointment at a different facility tomorrow. Time to apply the lesson I learned. Hope some one gets something useful out of this comment.
