Ubislime have been on a upward failure trajectory since 2006 when yves refused to make Rayman4 for us old time fans and instead we got those ugly mentally decapitated rabbits nobody asked for. Then fastforward to 2010 and the final releases for GRFS & SC-Con failed to live up to the impressive gameplay tech demos shown off at E3 now a distance memory. Then things got even worse after the end of the ps3/xbox 360's life cycle when yves and his spineless entourage pulled the life cord on many videogame projects that had the potential to be ever lasting fun action adventure titles and went on a psychotic vet dev job cutting spree getting rid of over 300 talented people at the studio who'd been putting lots of over time in WIPs i.e. Rainbow Six Patriots, Prince Of Persia Redemption, Star Wars 1313 and the original concept for BYG&E2. Now the studio is nothing but a depressing money/data gouging imaginatively bankrupted pc deficit junkie encrusted sweatshop that're no longer fit to make videogames for the old time fans ubislime have been neglecting n written off for the last 20yrs.
After Ubisoft decided to not hire men & couldn't figure out right from wrong; it's only fair they only go down in vain.

@SideScrollersPodcast Craig, for the last 3 days your audio is trash. We can't hear you. Do you read comments or at least preview a minute of your own videos? I have to max out my volume just to SORT OF hear you, but when Endymion's video is played my ear drums are bursted.
You're almost completely silent, then when you play clips it nearly blows my speakers or headphones out. Going on for several videos now.

This is all over in Corporate America. I've seen it in large banks, for starters.
They don't make demands, they just put it in the game and the executives don't bother to look in on the project because they have no interest in games.
The executives have no idea that their new employees make substandard work with artistic decisions that the wider audience finds unappealing.
The journalists complain about the company and then they make some half assed hiring policy to address the toxicity or political concerns in a tokenistic way that lets these people in.
Then we get these garbage games and the executives think that they gave "us" what we want when really they are catering to 3 journalists and a huge chunk of people that will criticize games but never buy any of them when they make the requested pandering changes.
A dumpster fire is a prank by vandals. This is a toxic landfill inferno.

I imagine an entire studio bickering with each other for weeks about office politics. They'd hold segregated meetings, send representatives to other groups to negotiate terms, lobby management to change the working environment, and after a month or more, finally have a solution.
Then, the CEO comes by for a visit and asks, "How's the game coming along?"
"Game? What game?"
Like the group meetings of the Democratic Socialists of America, who can never get much done because they're so busy trying to accommodate everyone's "Point of Personal Privilege" interruptions; and setting up separate safe-space rooms for myriad demands, like the room where attendees can be safe from "aggressive smells".
You know, this sounds like a joke, but the *mere existence* of those groups _proves_ that this literally happened - except that the CEO never came by to check on them.
Seriously, they weren't making games in those meetings.
That's why these studios are quietly outsourcing development.

You are wrong about that. Gaming these days is about appealing to the broader audience and NEVER to the fans. This has been going on for a while now. Appealing to the broader audience was the test waters for them to see how far people will buy their watered down garbage and most gamers "bought it". Anyone that bought AAA or AAAA games in the past 10 years on the regular... are to blame for this.

The first stock hit was almost 5 years ago, right when the Ghost Recon Breakpoint beta dropped and revealed Ubi had decided to try to make Ghost Recon into a looter shooter like The Division, instead of a tactical mil-sim lite that it always should have been.
From there, the ball rolls downhill, with their lack of understanding of what each of their franchises are, and the activism message cramming growing with every game, leading to Ma'am Solo and black samurai in Japan bullshit.
@@ytsuxmuhd4998 Yeah GG was in 2014, but while it never fully went away after all this stuff was laughed into the shadows in the 90s, it really started to flare up again in 2010 with Occupy Wall St. It flared up again with GG in 2014, again with Ghostbusters 2016, and then went into overdrive with the 2016 election, and again with the 2020 combo of COVID, BLM, and another election. COVID broke a lot of people in the same ways 2016 did.
I work for one of the larger corporate entities in the US, and they do all this stuff too. It's not just gaming, all western businesses that have any semblance of government funding have these groups in them. it's part of their checklist.

Propaganda from "urinalists" portraying how terrible the working conditions in game industry is, how crunches are at inhumane level, how developers' "tears and sweats" are put into the production, etc. Those are only 30% of the truth, and 70% overexaggeration.
Indie, sure, but that's a given, same for any independent professional. However, working in AAA industry is a luxury in comparison to other fields, such as medical, science, etc.
Because of such propaganda, it deters lots of normal people to seek for game industry careers, and open the doors for influx of weirdos getting into the industry. Thus, first the HR, then novice inexperienced weirdo are promoted to a higher position. As a result, it creates chain reactions, pushing out talented normal developers while increasing their own group size.
Think about it, if such working conditions in game industry is harsh, why those weirdos want to join in the 1st place. And the fact that we know they are lazy and expert procrastinators, and spend their time on social media.

Propaganda about how terrible game industry is -> Deter normal people and seek weirdos to join in their cause -> Increase their groups' size and influence. Rinse and repeat.

As some one who works for the Government of Canada (GC), I can 100% believe Ubisoft has these internal groups. The GC is riddle with these groups and they do nothing but waste corporate time by having frivolous meetings weekly (in some cases even bi-weekly) that are paid for by tax payers. They also act as miniature unions, trying to bargain for extra benefits from upper management. While Ubisoft is based in France, there's a fair amount of business culture overlap as the GC tends to try to emulate things Europeans and Americans do based on similar values.

I work at a big corporation that has race-based groups that "anyone can join." I've considered testing that by joining the Asian group to meet girls lol. Anyway, the ones at my company don't seem to do anything at all. Maybe the Asian one planned our Lunar New Year event.
This got me thinking, though. If you insisted that your company doesn't have extra internal networking fluff like this and was just a place to efficiently get the job done, then you'd mainly have men and conservatives working there because that's what many of them want in a workplace.
It's like cliques at high school movies and cartoons but somehow even more immature and toxic. I want to say it's on the verge of parody it's reality. Not sure if it's more absurd than insane or the other way around.

I challenge Ubisoft staff to spend ONE DAY in Dublin city, city centre and see what the real world is like. Living in a bubble is terrible for the investor wallet.
Recently I saw this theroy that the Chinese company trying to give incentives for Ubisoft to hit like DEI stuff to get extra pocket change which sacrifices the company and it's stock, just to buy the company at a all time low.
I had the same theory, that's kind of a 200 IQ play by the Chinese. Privately fund or influence DEI in the West, which fosters instability in its culture, economics, and government, and, finally, profit off of the results (e.g. buying companies at record low stock values).
And now we see rumors of Tencent potentially buying out Ubisoft...
It has got to be something like that. I'm not even saying it's a Chinese organization, it's an outside actor who has planted corrupted people inside to take it down so they can buy it on the cheap and acquire all the assets and IP from Ubisofts back catalog. That is the only way any of this nonsense makes any sense. The only alternative theory is the management is insane and extremely incompetent.
It takes very rare, very self selecting type of woman to make media men like. Japan has a lot of those, but when you add scholarships, internships, workshops and groups where only women are allowed, you'll have a lot of people chasing things they have to right getting.
Alright, in light of all that, the Ubisoft case is the prime candidate to inspire a new GoT like parody of the modern progressive corpo enviroment in a few years. That and the documentary about Disney's burning down would definetely be in my watch list.
Set that in a Disney expy and I think you've got a solid elevator pitch, you just need some stock characters for it.

The language thing should not be an issue. In Europe there are so many languages that it is a very common practice that they would speak in English as the company language. Some countries speak better English, like in Netherlands, Denmark, etc. But it is a very common practice.
Not if they don't speak a European language. Not everyone can speak more than two or three languages. Not all languages are equal either. Some are far more superior at understanding complex descriptive concepts.

My experience in Europe, and also in sound America, the speak their language and English as a second language. Not only English is widely accepted, but it is f... easy, specialy if you speak a Romance or Germanic language.
Yeah, pretty much every facet of entertainment has a problem with narcissist creators right now. It's why we're seeing a sudden trend of "Embellished Autobiography" movies/shows coming out and self-inserts everywhere. Hollywood was taken over by kids who went straight from art school to a writer's room/animation studio, and think of every project as waiting for their turn to talk about themselves and have the public at large fawn over their self-insert.

Haven't played an Ubisoft game in 5+ years. I'll gladly add another 5 years to that track record. Then again, it's not that Ubisoft will still be existing in 5 years from now 🤣
I enjoyed Black Flag so much I played it on 3 different consoles. I loved the world, the story, the characters, customization, combat, and of course the ship battles. Truly my dream game. I'll always be grateful for the creative people who made that game come to life.
That being said, I don't understand the de-evolution into Skull & Bones. Truly a crying shame.
