Hey Brittany, great video as always. I do disagree with you on your comments about "age appropriate" dressing for us older ladies. Why shouldn't we have fun with our fashion as we hit the autumn/winter of our lives? I believe that is a very outdated viewpoint to have in this day and age. Fashion is self-expression and it shouldn't be restricted by advancing age.
Yes, I knew there was a bit of a risk there and I think that's up to everyone's interpretation, but I couldn't help but think that the dress would have probably worked better on someone a bit younger. Thanks for watching!!
I agree with your point, in principle, but feel that the royal women need to definitely remember their age when they’re choosing their clothes for public engagements. It’s a different kettle of fish for us private folks.
I agree with Brittany that this ODlaR dress was not a good pick. She was spilling out of it and it was inappropriate for a royal lady, especially an older royal lady. It doesn’t mean one cannot have fun with style, but similar with hair color, older ladies need to be subtle not crass. Think black hair on an older face versus a medium blonde. It’s not that an older gal can’t have dark hair, but when we age our face gets wrinkles and even washes out a bit, so dark hair isn’t flattering on an older gal. 🤷🏼♀️
OMG! I have a big boxy (gift) jacket in the exact same color. I’m taking it to the tailor along with some piping (from the fabric store) to have it cut down and mimic the look!
I agree Beatrice Borromea looks fabulous in the green-blue jacket. The whole look is amazing. Also Queen Maxima’s dress and jewelry is perfect. Great picks!
Both Beatrice’s jacket and Maxima’s belted coat dress are reminiscent of the early 1960s, a great era for fashion. Clothes back then were structured but simple in design with blocks of colour and matching bags and hats. Maxima’s ensemble looks youthful but elegant as well.
12:45 One of the things I loved about Her Majesty QE II, is that she dropped the bare shoulders look after 45. She always dressed appropriately for her age, from casual dress and Matching mid length coats and lovely hats, to my favorite… HMTQ in a scarf, muddy, sturdy hiking boots and a trench coat. When she was wandering around Balmoral, she was happiest. My favorite stories of her occurred at Balmoral.

Letitia also looks amazing in the dark blue, sleeved dress with the sweeping skirt. Effective and superbly classy.. She is elegant, with a capital "E." She always looks incredible, without resorting to looking like a decorated Christmas tree!
Enough with the age comments. I am over hearing about "age appropriate" and "good for her age". If anything, Queen Letizia dresses like she is 20 years old, and that is not flattering either.
I'd say it's not so much about age appropriateness as it is about dressing for your body shape and what looks good on you and works for your body at any age. The Oscar de la Renta dress only made Maria Teresa look stockier and dumpier, it's far from flattering for her body type. This applies for men too, no one wants to see a 70 year old man who doesn't keep fit in hip hugger jeans, surfer shorts or muscles shirts.
I didn't know that that grand duchess was mean to the staff. Plus I'm not surprised that Meghan Markle influenced her because of course she did. Btw what was Maria Teresa's wedding dress like? Did she looked like a Christmas tree?
Maria-Theresa has really changed her approach to royal dressing in the past few years and, sadly, it hasn’t been a change for the better. She has worn so many groaners; it makes me wonder if she’s reached the point where she’s thought, “Stuff it! I’m gonna wear what I want and play with fashion. Dash the consequences!” This is the best explanation for her ridiculously expensive black floral gown from last week as well as her cray-cray MotB outfit last year (anyone remember her “shoulder lettuce?) and her bizarre ensemble worn to KCharles’ coronation.
Yes, she generally has a lot of bad looks. She reminds me of someone who dresses for what she thinks she looks like, but for not what her body actually is. It is tricky as she is short and carrying a bit of weight, but I think she could look a lot better. I thought it was funny how someone said about one of her outfits this last week that it looked like grass was growing out of her sleeve. All her outfits would have probably made the worst dressed list, but I decided to not go that far. Thanks for watching!!
@@RoyalFashionNews I agree. It’s rather sad because she used to dress better for her height, body shape and role. She’s proven she can do it well….which makes her wardrobe choices these last few years all the more inexplicable. 🤷♀️
I love the Dior look particularly the idea of matching the bag to her top. That’s a style trick I always try to duplicate. I’m wearing today a bright blue top with an identical blue ostrich leather bag and white jeans. It makes the look so much more polished.
I confused Grand Duchess Maria Teresa with the Queen of the Belgians yesterday. This is why we need more royal news! That unfortunate flowered print dress did not flatter the Grand Duchess at all. I think the problem started with the print (hideous) and ended with the $20k pricetag. Ridiculous. Queen Maxima looked great in the full Stuart. Always happy for a second look at those jewels - the stomacher was incredible. Only the late Queen Mary could pull that sort of thing off, I feel bad for Queen Letizia's foot problem. The worst thing for a Queen to be saddled with is something where you have trouble standing, that's all you do all the time. Yikes.
That blue Stewart diamond is incredible not just size (ginormous), but the brilliance! Like you said, Brittany, they wore the real jewels at this occasion. I agree with your perspective, that European attitude of the casual overcoat laying over an outfit is such an odd fashion statement anywhere. Ok, maybe want to be quick to put on or off is kind of a taught pompous behavior, today. Very thoughtful analysis of many fashion points of the recent activities of the European Royals! Enjoyed it the commentary.🥰👍
Hi, I feel the need to step in and defend our Crown Princess. I know that you have this as per the week, but I'm pretty certain that that this is a picture taken at least a month ago. You can tell from the greenery in the background (or more the lack thereof). I live here and I know what state the vegetation is during spring and summer, as this is my favorite, and the time where I thrive. That vegetation make me go back to around April, maybe early May, if charitable. The temperatures around the time this photo was taken would have hovered between 40-50℉ and the ground in Stockholm was just starting to unfreeze (we get permafrost like conditions in winter). In those booties she can stand around for a while outside because she would most likely wear some very warm socks. And as for the last dress on your list, it's so Oscar de la Renta, leaning Laura Ashley. I agree that the dress is quite awful, but could have been saved by some sleeves. Where I disagree is when it comes to the agism (I hate sounding woke). When you get to that age you can juge. I hope you will have better taste then she does, (please have better taste), but if this is what she wants to wear, she can disregarding her age. Conclusion; you can still have as bad taste in clothes when you are knocking on 70 as the young 20-somethings. Also; you alleged that she was wearing a tiara with that thing. Unfortunately her hair dresser has blown her bangs up so you could hardly see the thing. Something for your Tiara Tuesday, perhaps. I will keep defending our Crown Princess whenever I stop by, this channel, and you disparage her 😉🙂. I do that with all respect for you doing these commentaries, and I am absolutely a friend, should you ever need one over here. Yours, Ann
Loved Queen Maxima’s blue dress and thought she looked stunning….the color and draping at the shoulders are perfect. Didn’t care for her State outfit. I like Queen Letizia’s skirt and top but agree with you on the belt. Also liked her other dresses. I thought Queen Matilda of the Netherland[s dress was a bit matronly…50 isn’t that old. I would have liked it better if the neckline was lower. Didn’t care for GD Maria Theresa’s dresses. The Oscar deLa Renta dress looks like something that should be worn to a picnic.. Great job, Brittany...Royal Fashion New is so much fun!
Absolutely the most beautiful tiara I have ever seen and the blue gown is perfection paired with it. I am surprised at your "ageist" comments. I myself am about to be ninety years old and dress and look like a 60ty year old. Why not? Enjoyed your video a lot but of course all our opinions differ. Thanks so much.
The Grand Duchess has always been "super eccentric" in her fashion. BTW, the background allowed the outfits to ne the focal point & really popped. Thanks.
Omg Maria Teresa is really Luxembourg's Meghan Markle😂.The only rule they seem to follow is "the more expensive, the better" and they almost always end up being the worst dressed and looking absolutely ridiculous.
Yeah, I'm sorry to say but it really fits. She's also under investigation for treating her staff poorly, so the whole thing definitely runs together. Thanks for watching!!
@@ruthjames4299 Too bad if you don't like facts. A cursory Google search will inform you that Maria Teresa has been investigated twice by the Luxembourg government for bullying her palace staff and creating a hostile work environment. First instance was in 2020 (Waringo report, look it up), then again in 2023 for an incident that happened during her daughter's wedding in 2022. The government got involved because royal staff are government employees in Luxembourg. I wonder why these facts are so upsetting to you, maybe you are a bully yourself?

Nice video, thanks Brittany! As a Dutch i will try to 'explain' how to pronounce Jan Taminiau 😊. You pronounce Jan quite okay. Taminiau is Ta Mi (me)Ni (like "me" but instead of a "m" a "n" and than in one flow again an i followed by ou (like in a couch you sit on), so "iou". If you know how the English say Dance, use the same pronunciation of the a in Jan, only pronounce it shortly. Like in your word Architect. The first letter is the same as the a in Jan. Hope this helps in knowing how to pronounce the name of your favourite Royal designer 😉. Xoxo
Oh wow Carolina Herrera CAN make clothes that look good on people, cos the amount that markle wears you'd be forgiven for assuming CH wasn't a good designer!
Best dressed Beatrice Boromeo looked so fabulous in her seafoam green outfit. The shirt and skirt are dior. Plus the dior purse is super cute. Are her sunglasses dior? I like Dior too but I prefer Valentino. Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden looked amazing in her blue pantsuit but the booties have to go. She should have worn heels. Queen Letizia of Spain has on that black off the shoulder top and satin skirt. I hate this skirt, the belt isn't helping the skirt look better. Queen Matilde of the Belgians' white dress looked so beautiful. I especially love the star embellishments on the dress. Queen Maxima and Queen Letizia looked amazing these dresses at the state event. Queen Maxima's dusty pink outfit looked regal and ladylike. Normally I hate belts with dresses but this belt shaped her figure well. I love the chunky headband. Queen Letizia looked amazing in that red dresaps, and that big pink coat turned it up to eleven. But she could have out her arms in the coat in my opinion. The two queens had on red and green outfits. Queen Maxima looked so fabulous in red. The dress looked amazing on her and I lobe her hat. Queen Letizia wore a green dress. Queen Matilde looked like Elsa in her icy blue dress. She had on the Nine Provinces tiara, it's so beautiful and its now one of my favorite royal diamond tiaras. The Princess of Orange looked great in the coat but the dress is so-so. Worst dressed Grand Duchess Maria Teresa's black and pink look is Margot Robbie Sag award dress. I hate the blue jewelry with the dress. She had on the Scroll tiara by it's hidden in her hair. Grand duchess Maria Teresa Oscar De la floral gown reminds me of Kim Kardashian's floral maternity dress from the 2014 met gala. Plus the Grand duchess had on a long blue and gray coat with a black jumpsuit. Its so horrible, I hated this coat so Mich I want to burn it in a bonfire. Best dressed of the week for me is Princess Catherina Amalia in her dark blue gown and the ruby peacock tiara. I loved this blue gown.
Aww, I love that!! Catharina-Amalia is looking great and still finding her regal style! She looked lovely, though I don’t know if we got technically the whole look without a hinderance so it didn’t move me one way or the other. Thanks for watching!
Luxembourg is a very very wealthy monarchy, there is nothing cheap about them also i detect ageism in the commentary -perhaps not intentional but wait till you get older Britney, you will want to wear what ever you want
Hi Brittany, thanks for another great episode! Loved Máxima’s outfits, paired with the Stuart Tiara. There was another one of your favorite tiaras in the video (see 18:05). It’s probably the best tiara choice for the royal lady wearing it. Hint: She never liked the heavy ones. Can you guess which one I mean? 🤓
It seems like Letizia is becoming harsher with age. I no longer find her as beautiful and fresh as I once did. Queen Maxima just always seems to be spot on.
I wonder if the pain she is in from her feet might have something to do with the change in her her facial features. Foot pain is terribly debilitating. Just a thought.
I think it is so awesome to see people who are left-handed like myself. Wasn't so long ago that it was thought that left-handed people had the devil in them. My Uncle Charles was forced (beat) to become right-handed.
I thought 68 year old, Maria Theresa looked stunning in her gorgeous $20,000 Oscars de la Renta gown. Stop age shaming or body shaming ladies who obviously, for a State Dinner, were doing the best they could to look as good as they could! I won’t be around to see how you will look at 68, Brittany!
The dress that you gave the thumbs down to wasn't appropriate for the event. I like the dress, but not for a formal event, and certainly not for the price! I don't think I have spent that much on all the clothing I have ever worn, but then, some of the clothes I wear are over forty years old. They still look good on me. The floral dress would have been lovely for an evening garden party, but not for this event. Rather "Hippie-chickie" in a way, and I always love that "vibe." I would wear it (I am sixty-three,) to an evening garden party.
Beautiful Brittany! Hello there. I know why the Grand Duchess always wears the shawls you talked about on another video. Its menopause. Thats why she does it ill big time bet. Menopause for many of us is gruesome because the hot flashes. I wore shawls during the worst of it. Id have a hot flash about every 40 minutes. For years. Years!! I couldnt do HRT because im high breast cancer risk. So id wear only sun dresses. Spaghetti strap dresses. In winter. The thought of clothing put me in a panic. Because when the hot flash hits you want to take off that outer layer quickly until the hot flash disapates. Then you can put the shawl back on. I have a hunch thats what she's doing.🌼🌼
Hi Brittany I'm your big follower. The pronunciation in Italian is CaSiraghi with a soft S, not how you always pronuce it CaZZiraghi. If you would know what cazzi in italian means.....you would blush Love from Italy ❤
I’m nearly 50 and my mom is 75 and one thing we both agree on is some outfits look tacky and “disgusting” on older ladies. Yes age appropriate when discussing clothing is appropriate, not that you can’t have fun with your clothes, but take your aging body/ figure into account!
Wish your set up on screen were not so dark-that angled view is too high, and there’s too much dark space behind you; it looks overall too dark and murky. I think a lamp back there in the corner might help.
For a $20,000 dress I would have to agree with you about Maria Theresa’s ball gown. I don’t think that it flattered her figure and it was nowhere near WOW for that price!
I don’t think it’s so much about the age of Maria Theresa. It’s rather about that the sleeveless floral dress is not really good for her body shape. It looks slightly too tight and the shimmering of the fabric only increases the effect. Also the black accessories don’t help here and her makeup is also wrong. There are shapes and fabrics that could help the short person like her look much better, perhaps even for half of the price. As for the Spencer tiara in its full set up… Yes , it is amazing and the blue diamond is really unique and beautiful and queen Maxima being a tall women wears it really great but to me it’s too big, heavy and overwhelming. But I agree that the dress Queen Maxima wears with that brooch looks spectacular. One of her best looks ever! Otherwise, I agree with the rest. Thank you for the nice podcast and I’m looking forward to the next one. Maybe you could comment on the green outfit the Queen Mary of Denmark wears on the new official photo. Keep on doing the great job!
No No No We need to stop vilifying the aging of women and the shaming of crepey or wrinkly older women skin and start celebrating the privilege that is aging and the glory of bodies that are well lived in. Whatever you love wearing and you feel wonderful in is always a pleasure to see. I very much disagree with your reasoning this week. Women are judged on their aging looks so harshly and this creates such a mean-spirited, one dimensional perspective, denying what we truly have worked to become and have achieved. Men in general do not experience this.
True, men don’t have so many comments. But an older woman trying to wear what wowed on her when she was younger is not an edifying look. Younger women need to know this.
@@ynys_mon6928 being edifying is so over rated imo. Wearing something you love and feel lovely in is wonderful. Im short , older with a big (droopy) bust. I have a floral tiered floaty dress I adore and feel like a goddess in, Im sure I look like a barge in full steam or that I belong on top of a stack of loo rolls but I love it. I dont believe in age appropriate anything. As I age comfort matters a heap more but apart from that I feel Ive earned the right to be me
Because Queen Letitzia has such a narrow frame the voluminous looks make her look as though she is wearing clothes that are too big for her. I had that impression with the pink jacket and the navy wrap dress. They are fantastic pieces but on her slim figure they overwhelm. I love her more fitted looks. The black and champagne skirt could have worked if she had used the belt element to tie it all together I think. Maybe a rose gold belt buckle?….
I watch your Best and Worst dress posts regularly, but I am still confused with the format as imho it's not flowing. I remember on one of the first posts, you commented you'd try the format to report best dress, worst dress, best dress, worst dress and so on - and see if it works. I have always hoped you (and the audience) would see it's not working and would change the format to report worst dresses and then 5 best dresses or vise versa but seem no one thinks this current format is confusing. Anyway, this is just my personal opinion. Regardless, I will still watching this channel. Thanks
Sorry but Queen Mathilde is not dressing age appropriate. It's very dowdy and makes her look years older than her age. You seem to have it in for Marie Theresa.
I will have to disagree with your “age appropriate “ opinion on that giant white dress. I did not like it and I think it looks frumpy on someone as young as 50. I’m 68 and I would not wear it.
I don't know about age constraints, but baring so much skin at a state dinner ??? and the style of the strap seems more appropriate for an evening dance and meal. I just don't get all the skin that shows. And doesn't a person get sweaty underarms?
That flowered evening gown. Oy. At 68 yo she should know what suits her figure. She’s short and on the heavy side - large patterns are not her friend. Monochromatic dressing is her friend. it will elongate her figure. And there’s also the need for royals to look good in official pictures - again, monochromatic dressing will always look good in pictures. Certain colors also look better in photos and video - that’s why news anchors wear what they do. you’re recording history ladies, don’t you want to look regal 200 years from now?
After watching a video of Queen Letzia disrespecting her mother in law in public,in front of her children I really cant see any beauty in her now no matter what she wears.
Though it looks like her mother in law must have disrespected her quite a lot in private - and actually on this occasion, too-to provoke such a reaction. Letitia was in mum mode and I am 100% sure there must have been a reason. She is always so correct in public and makes sure the daughters behave correctly like no other royal on the planet, there must have been something really awful to have her react like that! Also the girls obviously weren't happy there either.
I think the situation is much more complex than a simple video, and the girls didn’t look thrilled either with their grandmother. Family relationships can be challenging, but Letizia works very hard for Spain. Thanks for watching!!
She does but she generally hits home runs on state visits and when she’s away representing The Netherlands. Her day wear on home turf can be a hot mess or brilliant; there seems to be very little middle ground for her. That said, her vibrancy and people skills light up any room she enters.
It feels like Maxima's blue dress was designed specifically with the jewels in mind. I'd love to have that done :) It was absolute perfection.

Yours, Ann
I loved Queen Matilde looks amazing! She is very gentle looking,.
15:22 if they ever make a Queen Maxima barbie 🤞 this is the dress and this is the tiara ❤
And the young Princess does not like exposing her upper half. I totally understand her.
Love Letizia’s blue dress. Not over the top.
@@RoyalFashionNewswell after that comment you just lost me as a viewer.

Awesome video Brittany ❤❤❤
I TOTALLY AGREE Wuth You. QUEEN MAXIMA NON PLUS ULTRA. . MAJESTIC , SOLEMN. AND HEAVENLY BEAUTYFUL. LITERALLY.
Love the Belt🇺🇸💯
Love yr fashion channel
Great video!
It looks purple to me
Nice video, thanks Brittany!
Xoxo
Never seen a royal lady rocks chunky belt like Queen Maxima does.
When I was Queen Maxima's sleeves I thought of Queen Margrethe's dresses, in the day, with enormous sleves.
Queen Maxima really was the hands down winner. Beatrice hanging out with the Elkanns was next; she never gets it wrong
Royals need to keep their coats closed. Hanging your coat over your shoulders is to casual for public events.
No way!
These woman needed stockings. Unless things get better so far the best was Queen Letezia in the navy. Queen Maxima's blue dress you've shown before.
Oh wow Carolina Herrera CAN make clothes that look good on people, cos the amount that markle wears you'd be forgiven for assuming CH wasn't a good designer!
Best dressed
Beatrice Boromeo looked so fabulous in her seafoam green outfit.
Worst dressed
Grand Duchess Maria Teresa's black and pink look is Margot Robbie Sag award dress.
I'm sorry to say I find the Beatrice Borromeo old fashion jacket. I like Letizia red dress.
Queen Mathilda is so beautiful
Luxembourg is a very very wealthy monarchy, there is nothing cheap about them
also i detect ageism in the commentary -perhaps not intentional but wait till you get older Britney, you will want to wear what ever you want
You are on fire!!! Must be working a lot of hours
I’m trying!! Tiara Thursday video is filmed and I’ll edit tomorrow!
I was looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Letizia’s navy dress. Scuptural is hard to wear
❤❤❤
It seems like Letizia is becoming harsher with age. I no longer find her as beautiful and fresh as I once did. Queen Maxima just always seems to be spot on.
I wonder if the pain she is in from her feet might have something to do with the change in her her facial features. Foot pain is terribly debilitating. Just a thought.
Fun
Hi Brittany
I'm your big follower.
The pronunciation in Italian is CaSiraghi with a soft S, not how you always pronuce it CaZZiraghi.
If you would know what cazzi in italian means.....you would blush
Love from Italy ❤
what about Maxima's earings!!
The Joan Rivers of monarchical fashion.
Twenty thousand she knew her money
Yep, that's a LOT of money. Thanks for watching!!
😊
Marie Theresa wanted to match the floral arrangements 😂🤣😂
Letitia is looking a little frail somehow; she is petite and fit, but lately looks almost like she’s in pain. Worried for her.
She is having a lot of foot pain from wearing high heels for so long
Neuroma de Morton, very painful 😢
I agree with best dress and jewelry. Although I also really liked her daughter's look in the peacock tiara and necklace. I was not a fan of the cape.
As I age comfort matters a heap more but apart from that I feel Ive earned the right to be me
@@moodriderYou’re really lovely ❤
Because Queen Letitzia has such a narrow frame the voluminous looks make her look as though she is wearing clothes that are too big for her. I had that impression with the pink jacket and the navy wrap dress. They are fantastic pieces but on her slim figure they overwhelm. I love her more fitted looks. The black and champagne skirt could have worked if she had used the belt element to tie it all together I think. Maybe a rose gold belt buckle?….
Grand Duchess Maria Theresa wanted a dark simple gown to show off the jewels, then ruined it with the pink "shawl."
I enjoy your videos, but think you tend to be a bit hard on Maria Theresa.
Thanks
If that dress cost 20 thousand dollars that royal made a big mistake. It looks terrible.
I think CP Victoria’s pants suit would’ve looked better with maybe nude pumps.
I hate to say it but Maria Teresa is not exactly known for her great fashion choices. My opinion
I agree she is too old for that dress and it makes her look heavier. I wouldn't have paid more than $200 for it. 20k is ridiculous.
Ooohhhh...Dior, wouldn't TOW be crazed if she found out.
Madam is far too busy love-bombing Chrissy Teigen with Spam Jam to notice what Dior is up to.
These days she's more into shabby rag bag chic. 😝
Maxima has a lot of misses.
She does but she generally hits home runs on state visits and when she’s away representing The Netherlands. Her day wear on home turf can be a hot mess or brilliant; there seems to be very little middle ground for her. That said, her vibrancy and people skills light up any room she enters.
Agreed, with everything you said!
Maria Theresa has horrible taste in clothes. She rarely wears anything that flatters her.
