- A new Karate Kid movie is coming, and it's going to bridge the gap between the original Karate Kid movies and the 2010 remake, Kungfu Dream.
The movie will star Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan, and it will feature a new character named Li Fong, who is a teenager from China who has been studying kungfu under Jackie Chan's Mr. Han.
The movie is scheduled for release on December 13, 2024.
There is no word yet on how the new Karate Kid movie will connect to Cobra Kai, but the showrunners for Cobra Kai have met with the team behind the new movie to provide feedback on the script.
The new Karate Kid movie is being marketed to a new, younger generation of fans, and it is likely to retcon some of the events of Cobra Kai.

Jackie Chan doesn't do Karate. He does Kung Fu.
He's trained in several martial arts. He's also training karate taekwondo and jeet kune do also judo. Get your facts straight.
@@ClubHead What about it. Thats not the point potato.
@@ClubHead and sorry for bursting your bubble but he started in Opera School where he learned Kung Fu for theater.
and Ralph Machio does nothing. And it shows 🤣
Kung Fu means "Acquired Skill", or "Master of the Art" like a PhD
You can be a Kung Fu in calligraphy or Karate
There are Anime cartoons where every skill and tools can be used in a fight (Ranma 1/2)
I feel like it should connect with Cobra Kai. Maybe bridge how Karate derives from Kung Fu in a way that respects both styles.
I agree, but I fear at the same time they'll do like they did in the 70's and cause confusion on Which Martial Art is which. Much like the confusion of Modern Day Wushu vs Traditional Chinese Kung Fu. Whether people believe it or not Japan does still have the original Shaolin Arts and Chi Kung practices that was lost in China, as Japan absorbed many things that came out from China, stored and kept in writings.
Well Chan’s first art was Crane and Crane came to Okinawa and became Karate…. And Goju Ryu of Miyagi is a direct descendant of White Crane…
I think a possible way would be since Daniel is now in the car business his company may be importing cars or car parts from China and meets Mr Han who is associated with the style that Miyagi-do evolved from
Um Miyagi said his ancestor fell asleep while fishing, ended up in China, came back years later with Chinese wife and secret to Miyagi style...it is stated in KK2. Hence doesnt seem wrong to say Jackie's character Han cannot be a descendant of the masters that taught kung fu to Miyagi ancestor.
@@littlemiho6208 I cannot follow that logic. Miyagi ancestor learned in China. Han lives in China. Therefore, so did probably his ancestors. How does this prevent his ancestors from teaching Miyagis ancestors?
I think it would be dumb not to connect the two universes. If you're using the same actors, connect them.
WHY ?

We need a Jackie Chan & Jean Claude Van Damne movie!
Should've happened in the 90s or the early 00s but I'm still hopeful.
No, how about Jackie Chan and Michael Jai White? Also, how about for comedy Jackie Chan and Martin Lawrence?
oh hell yeah
that would be like a another rush hour 😝
No, I just want Jackie Chan work with Jet Li and Donnie Yen. Also his two brothers Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao.
You s'd have life
"Kung Fu Dream" is the original title definitely makes sense because the Jackie Chan is doing kung fu and not karate. Me personally called the movie The Kung Fu Kid because the fact they are doing Chinese kung fu and not Okinawan karate. So, in 2010 the Western world is still doing fooled by the martial arts genre such as the titles of the films. Wow okay
Well, the origin of Karate is Kung Fu
@@Pbuilder Unfortunately, Modern Karate is a very Degraded version of its Chinese parent art. Some of the older Karate styles, are closer in alignment... but still, a lot has been Lost, Corrupted, and or never transferred (Due to the Chinese holding back certain things).
Same but....America though. They have label every Martial Art Karate.
I can’t understand why this video hasn’t highlighted that Kung-fu (Chinese) is not the same as Karate (Japanese). Why are ppl interchanging both martial arts? Doesn’t make sense
I don't think fooled is the word. We were confused as to why they wouldn't call it the kung fu kid
It's Cobra (Kai) in the Eagle (Fang) Shadow!
I see what you did there😂
I’m hoping this movie turns out well❤
I'm waxing off over this great news😂
Shouldn't😆 wack off on this
@@DeadlyVenomKing Dude, if you wax on, you gotta wax off too, that's the rules!
I hope that the nostalgia of the karate kid doesnt get ruined like it did with the one with jayden smith 😫🤦♂️
I actually liked that one even though it didn't have the same people
Thanks for this great update. I look forward to this movie and really appreciate your knowledge and skills. Stay gold brother.
I’m always ready for more Kung Fu movies even if they have to retag it for America as The Karate Kid. Huge Gung Fu buff and Bruce Lee fan.
This still is odd, i thought the purpose of Cobra Kai was to introduce us to a whole new generation of students so eventually a movie would be made about one of them. ALA passing of the torch. Cobra Kai is literally all we need.
I enjoyed this, thank you for sharing.
Thanks for the video ❤
Thank you brother 🙏 I found your explanation on how they can both come together quite interesting! So let's hope it happens that way, and as for the new kid in the new film I hope for good things seeing as he'll be trained in both kung-fu and karate be an interesting show down 😊
The Karate Kid trilogy is awsome, the Cobra Kai series is awsome, and the 2010 Karate (kung fu) Kid is awsome. If Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan are involved in this new movie, it most likely will be awsome as well. I can't wait for this movie.
The Karate Kid reboot with Jaden Smith. Sucked A$$ and is totally forgettable!👎
@device22b39 Incorrect. The Karate Kid remake, not reboot, is one of the few remakes that actually works. The performances are genuine. The fighting choreography is excellent. The story is paced well. Nothing drags or is rushed. The connection between student and mentor grew gracefully. And it didn't rely on nostalgia by referencing the original.
Whenever anyone who didn't like it tries to point out why it's "bad," they always say the same thing. "It sucked. Forgettable. It's not as good as the original." But they never give any actual reasons. Because it's really not bad. It is, in fact, a great film.
Yeah! Great update Golden Brotha
Can’t wait!! also il definitely give this a shot 😄👍🏻
I enjoyed everything Karate Kid! keep em coming
I actually clicked on the link to audition so fast I forgot I was an adult and not Chinese
of all the random martial arts channels that YT throws at me, yours is my fav. Very fact and logic based and doesn't seem to give into low information/rampant speculation.
Can’t wait for it
Now they need to team up with THE BEST OF THE BEST " PHILIPP RHEE
Great video.
Can’t wait for this one to come out.
it be funny if Ralph was the Terry Silver type character.
Thank you. 👍🏻👊🏻
Hell yeah I'll watch it!❤
It's got Ralph Machio and Jackie Chan. How could anyone not have a big grin on their face hearing this?
They need to get the kid that does the Bruce Lee moves😊
Awesome!
Super cool 😊
very cool!
Awesome, 👍
I cant wait to see it
Can't wait
I just hope that Mr. Miyagi is honored. He deserves respect for what he did for this sport.
Thanks!
Thanks, Mitch! 👊
Jayden Smith probably has a great secret weapon taught to him by his dad Will Smith! When your opponent isn’t expecting it, release the SLAP!😂
I'm happy iv got the old movies on dvd
My man, Prince Bell.
This film is going to be great.
Awesome
Lets go. This just made things better then it was.
Wax on, wax off😂😂😂
I think this will be awesome
It will be Karate man now days!
I'm DEFINITELY watching it!
I’ll watch it. I grew up watching the original trilogy with my dad. I watched the original three with my son. I think I do own the 4th on VHS somewhere. I do remember watching it as a kid and jumping on my couch like the, jumping on the car scene.
I remember first watching Cobra Kai and getting goose bumps. It was just perfect and hit every nostalgia hit. I think I watched the first season twice in a week. Once by myself another with my wife. We’ve seen all the seasons atleast twice. First one atleadt 3 or 4 for me.
I watched all of Jackie Chan’s movies growing up. Even that new one with John Cena was a fun time. But I didn’t really care for Kung Fu Dream. I watched it, but it wasn’t the same. I didn’t connect with it at all.
I’m hopeful for the new movie, but I think like stated in the video, it’s not necessarily for us. It’s for our kids. The ones whom don’t understand riding your bike everywhere and never being home. The era where, sure let’s go to another country with your older male karate teacher.
A little off topic but it’s like in this one episode of Bluey and the dad is explaining his childhood vacation in the 80’s and the kids don’t understand all the little things. Like riding a bike without a helmet, parents being mean or unhelpful. Being a bully to your younger siblings, etc.
So not for us, for them.
Hopefully the new karate kid does the CRANE style from China. That would be cool.
This movie sounds like it will be an Awesome Movie, coming out. I hope I can stay alive long enough to watch it.
Why would it be awesome? Chan ruined the KK remake with Will S and Jada P's 10 year old son in it.
Dre vs Miguel would be epic to see on the big screen, hopefully they're smart enough to actually connect the universe and pay respects to both.
Heck yea I love Jackie Chan he’s awesome !!
my friend who has his own karate school in our town. he is the coach of the team that wore the blue uniforms in the last season
@goldenbelltraining I was wondering if there is 1 place that lists all of the upcoming martial arts movie releases? This maybe a good way to market to potential new students. Our Dojo is located about 30 feet away from a movie theater.
The website "Film Combat Syndicate" usually has info on upcoming martial arts films. These days it seems like most of the films in that genre are "straight to DVD" or are being made/released overseas.
Another thing you can do is follow your favorite actors & especially the stuntmen on Instagram. I just learned about a new Iko Uwais film coming out just from seeing the IG page of a guy I follow who does fights/stunts in a lot of those movies
A Karate Kid movie with the Avatar (Jackie Chan)?! I would be dying to watch it.
Loooook forward to tribute the miyagi
Our TKD school received a letter for the movie looking for a new Chinese American kid actor, either boy or girl
I always imagined the title of Jackie Chan's Karate Kid being "Karate Kid Presents: Kung Fu Dream". And I imagined these characters being part of the same universe but in another town, and that maybe somehow they'll make a cameo like Mr. Han helping Daniel and he saying that he reminded him of someone (Mr. Miyagi), and when he leaves then Dre Parker appears and asks, "who was it Mr. Han?"
The fact macchio is only 7 years younger than Chan is wild
Nice good
I knew this was going to happen with the end of last season. I knew it would connect to the Smith/Chan film.
Johny is the only interesting character in Karate kid, he is the chosen one, he is the anti-hero who can grow and develop and learn of right and wrong and change his path... he is the one we the fans will follow in Karate Kid Saga!
There are two other links between the Karate Kid and Bruce Lee. When Sean Kanan (Mike Barnes) was injured filming Karate Kid III, Bruce's son Brandon was considered to replace him as Barnes. Chad McQueen who played Dutch in Karate Kid I is the son of Steve McQueen who had a fight with Bruce Lee. I saw a video recently by Jesse Enkamp where he discussed Kata figures from Karate with a Wushu practitioner where the use of some of the figures in the Kata were explained from the point of view of their Wushu origins. Maybe Jackie Chan will help Daniel explore these roots or teach his son how to properly interpret the old scroll he's trying to learn from. There was also a video on how the high kicks in Karate came from Japanese exposure to Savate (itself developped as a fencing style that used feet instead of swords). It may be that they're going to try to incorporate things from other Martial arts like Bruce Lee did.
it would be cool if there's was a world marital arts tournament where the Hispanic kid from cobra kai entered and Jadin smith from Jackie Chan movie entered and they have a crazy epic tournament where they both rise to the top and fight each other for the title of world martial arts champ.
I can't believe that we have to wait for a movie that was meant to be a summer/fall release.
This going to be interesting surprise
Karate Kid Multi Verse confirmed! 😂
Curious if the movie will focus on karate or kung fu.
I believe the story line will be something like : Hank will meet Danny to show the new kid his Japanese side, and since Danny has Miyagi he will try to teach him, but then something along will happen in the story that they will require a style that will challenge their on and thats when Danny take hank to Johnny to show the new kid some Kobra Kai 😅
If Kobra Kai is going to have a scene at the World Championships, it makes sense that they could tie in Laruso meeting Chan as Either himself Or as Mr. Han. It could Also bring in Hillary Swank as a teacher of her own Miyagi dojo where they meet not knowing each other. What would Really be cool and somewhat realistic would be to have cameo’s by big stars like Norris, Van Dam, or Segal. No matter what happens, I’m excited for season 6 of Kobra Kai as well as the new movie however they tie things together.
Mr. Han is not part of Cobra Kai.
One thing that i do not hear anyone mention is that Karate Kid movies including cobra kai are based on Karate martial art where as the last karate kid movie with Jackie Chan is based on Wushu (kung fu). For them to mix up or face each other you will have to mix both martial arts or have 1 of them shift to another else there definitely cannot be a karate practitioner in a wushu tournament or vice versa... unless they now pull something off like bloodsport or the quest (van damme movies) with mix martial arts or a totally different story.
It about time Ralph teaches Jack some real martial arts.
Could be interesting
Maybe they can close the circle, so that the new movie can still be in the same universe. This could be achieved with as little as some sidenotes in conversations in the new movie. Let´s see, I´m expecting a lot from the writers, those guys are geniuses!
I hope William Zabka will be there too.Because i dont think a Karate Kid without him.
I remember that Jackie Chan (the actor) was mentioned in a Cobra Kai episode. But I guess there could just be another guy that looks exactly like Jackie Chan.
When did they change the title of the Jaden Smith/Jackie Chan Film? My copy of the movie was called the same name as the other film; So I am just as confused by that as I was confused about the reused title for the film that was not about karate. But it would be interesting to compare Miyagi Do Karate with Han Kung Fu.
How it fits in? Well, "Miyagi -Do Karate come from China."
... This itself is a problem and not accurate.
They would have to some how bring in white crane kung fu with Okinawa karate which there are schools in Okinawa that trace their lineage to white crane kung fu it’s the story of the fisherman that got lost at sea form China that sailed to Okinawa
Aka Goju-Ryu Karate.
Yep, I'm a big fan of Bruce Lee
A couple years ago Me and one of my Friends Steve went to The Mission Tiki Drive Inn in Montclair California to SEE THE KARATE KID Went we arrived there was only 4 cars in less then 10 Minutes it was SOLD OUT tHEY WERE A LOT OF kids there they knew that had to SEE THIS MOVIE TO UNDERSTAND Why this is so Important to watch the Back Story to GO FORWARD WITH Cobra Kai
This is a very interesting concept that would merch the two together somehow. While listening to the negating of this and you said the new child character name is going to be fee long? Just to a totally other spin to this. Fee long is a character out of the video game series Street fighter, which they introduce a Bruce Lee character into the game. Just something else to consider.
Pat Morita rest in peace you'll always be mr miyagi to me 💪
Hey Ralph…how do you feel about doing more Karate Kid movies, spin off’s, series’ til the day you die?? It’ll be a big career booster son!
Ralph: I’M IN!!! 😃
if it's kungfu, it's should be called kungfu kid.
Will Hollywood type cast this cast forever
No, the internet didn't explode. Thank god.
BROOOOOOOOO JACKIE CHAN IS BACK!!!!!! WITH THE OG KARATE KID BIG MACCHIO!! LESGOOOOOOO!!!! Now... If they somehow make it connected to Jaden's "Karate" kid that would be a cool throw back buuuuuuuuuuuuuut I understand if they dont include it as "same universe"
I love karate kid and kobra Kai and Jackie Chan is the goat
Noooooooooooooooooooooooo😢😢😢
Lol jackie chans gonna end up in every karate kid reboot.
I get why Jackie Chan will be involved. May be a new style of karate kid with wushu instead of Okinawan Goju Ryu style which may be very interesting
Whaaaaaaat! This is perfect timing with the success of Cobra Kai.
Quality
Pretty Sure NPH's Barney is gonna hate that.
They need to keep the formal because it work.
I was hoping the movie would be a setup for a Chozen spinoff.
Ralph Macchio, please say it isn't so!
