- Have you ever wondered why everyone is making such a huge deal about Acheron in Honkai: Star Rail? You've heard she is likely related to Mei from Honkai Impact 3rd, but are you confused or have no idea what they are talking about? This video will explain the basics you need to know in regards to how Acheron's story is similar to Mei's journey within the Honkai Universe Series. In hindsight of the uploading of this video, the only information that might be up for debate is the context around the Black Sun. In my video, I refer to it with the similarities of Honkai, but it could be very possible that it's not that simple with additional thinking and contextualization.
Hopefully I will get a clearer/better answer in my head once I play through the new patch!

Meanwhile, I'm losing my mind trying to figure out if Acheron's past does indeed has ties to the Will of Honkai is how Origin is in the HSR universe when it was basically a singularity with pink Jesus, meaning it shouldn't happen again. While Singularities in the Will of Honkai can occur, it wouldn't be the same as what happened with pink jesus. So i think Acheron is similiar to pink Jesus but Origin was just a name of her weapon but actually not the same power. If honkai did appear in HSR, then I believe Acheron isn't an Emenator of Nihility but a Herscher of Mu/Naught.
PS, Mei only has the Authority of Origin due to pink Jesus from what I know and the fact that she delved into her computer otherwise she would have never got it. I could be wrong.

I like that the game is called Honkai Impact 3rd because the beginning of the story in the game starts after the 3rd Eruption, and the 3rd Eruption is the event that caused Mei to become a Herrscher. So Mei is also the symbol of the beginning of their story and Kiana is the symbol of the end of their story

He aint wrong either, sure its the 3rd Game of the Honkai Series, but the Game Story of Honkai still starts with Mei becoming the 3rd Herrscher, and it is confirmed that the Ingame Events of HI3rd start after the 3rd Eruption, after Mei, Kiana and co got enrolled into St. Freya.

I think the "End" here represents Kevin, not Kiana. Kevin also had the authority of Finality and he also used a greatsword. Also, remember Acheron said that the trailblazer reminded her of someone who fought with her if you're Stelle or against her if you're Caelus.
It also mirrors Raiden Mei's journey of fighting Kevin at the end of Pt1 of HI3, just like Acheron did. However, Acheron doesn't have a Tuna or Bronya by her side :(

Just thought to mention that GGZ Otherworld confirmed that Kevin is a Kiana variant. Which explains a lot about Kevin and Kiana in HI3rd and why he would be Finality/End in Acheron's homeworld.
It also imply that Kevin is one of Kiana variant in HI3 Moon and Finality
Imo HSR Mei don't have Kiana but Kevin cuz of her PV. Yea ik people gonna say if you play as female MC, the choice imply that it's Kiana instead of Kevin. But the video show Kevin and it also said that the white hair Oni guy and VA which also imply to Kevin

@@reneko I'm pretty sure that when she references someone who's like Kiana, she's talking about the girl from the Relic Set. So she meets a Kiana variant after her world turns to nothing. Especially because she says she fought side by side with them, not against them.
So she knew both a Kevin and a Kiana, and presumably lost them both...

@@no9ah103Acheron really seems to mirror the fate of Raiden Mei in that she essentially carries the legacy of the Previous Era into the future (and I just realized the parallel that if Kevin was the finality she fought against, it mirrors how Raiden Mei as Origin fought against Kevin as well in HI3 after working with him, only this time she did it without Kiana or Bronya by her side). Yet unlike Raiden Mei, the legacy that Acheron brings forward from the PE is one of loss and despair rather than the hope and conviction that their sacrifices led to a better future. Sadge :(
Essentially Acheron, without having the support of Kiana (and Bronya) is left with the worst possible outcome.

when you first meet Acheron she also has a different dialogue if you are Stelle or Caelus that references to Kiana/Kevin

@@dennistinazzi334 no you just choose the male or female trailblazer at the start. But when you first meet acheron there is a different dialogue depending on who you picked at the start.
But there is nothing concrete on the trailblazers representing Kevin and Kiana. Just this interaction with acheron as well as them all using bats as their preferred weapon.
Acheron is a different universe of Raiden Mei, where she becomes a Self Annihilator & Emanator of Nihility. The black sun is IX, the Aeon of Nihility, it doesn’t even matter if they started the war, it is pointless cause IX is gonna consume both Izumo & Takamagahara in the end, that’s why the last blade is “Naught”, which means nothingness

What makes me really hyped is the fact that the black sun in the animation is said to be a shadow of Ix, the aeon of nihility, and this whole story is set around it. So a story that is based on the whole thing of HI3 is in Star Rail around ONE Aeon... There's dozens more Aeons around the game, that's a LOT of future content that we're still gonna see unfold.

I don't think the "black sun" has anything to do with Honkai. Notice how Acheron said "THEIR shadows" as she looks up to the "black sun". THEY, THEM, THEIR, THEMSELVES are pronouns specifically used to refer to the Aeons in HSR. The "black sun" is most likely the Izumo people's misunderstanding of what their planet were actually orbiting: a black hole, which is most likely the Aeon of Nihility - IX, and it consumed both planets. All of the war against the "Honkai" happened for sure, but an even BIGGER fish entered the picture: an Aeon. All of that fighting for survival was for Naught, since the Aeon of Nihility consumed both planets and everything on there, that is why Acheron said "it was all a lie". They were fighting on the false premise of Takamagahara attacking. The scene in the end is most likely Acheron becoming the Emanator of Nihility.
TLDR: Honkai impact 3rd (HSR bad end) happened, with a twist that neither the Honkai nor the humans won since an Aeon destroyed them all.
The Black Sun was definitely the most difficult thing for my brain to correlate and comprehend when I originally recorded the video.
Hopefully, we can get a clearer picture with the new update!
IX probably played a role in this too. Unless the hoyo writers decided to also isekai'd acheron's bubble universe into HSR... then that black hole could be IX.
But even that begs the question.. why would IX do that? Isn't IX just MEH about everything? It would be pretty shitty if it just happens to be at acheron's world because of wrong place wrong time lol
I also suggest checking out the official Hoyolab post about Emanators, as they talked about Self-Annihilators - the Emanators of IX the Nihility. These individuals have a lot of characteristics that Acheron depicted such as memory loss and having cracks, wounds on her body. The final note in that lore post was a note of Dr. Primitive wondering if IX really does not care to do anything and why the Path still exists. So the premise of IX "does not care about anything" might actually be wrong the whole time.

@@ElemXCR I think IX have always been there since the begining and Izumo is doomed to be cosumed by THEM. All the fights agaist the Kami really was for "naught", the hope that Izumo can be saved is a lie.
It's not just the Japanese dub. Both CN and JP dubs have Kevin's respective VAs voicing Shiraga Oni.
Kiana is the only one can bring Acheron back to her sense.

And the white haired oni( in jp) is voiced by kevin so maybe this timeline follows ggz, where kevin is kiana alternative version

I find interesting in the JP Dub, that the whole story telling is more Previous Era than Current Era.
- The 12 herrschers existed during that time
- The 12 divine keys were forge during that time
- They used End instead of Finality where End used the same term towards HotE
- The "Lie" that existed on both story, that they think things will end but its not.
But i dont know if Acheron is Dr. MEI in this case but i can see similarities on the events of PE and Acheron back story.
If you know the Key of Blankness, and Dr. MEI's relationship with Kevin, you know already.
But, I can say it's both Dr. MEI and Raiden Mei. There's no way Dr. MEI likes peaches as Raiden Mei does.

I took it as Takamagahara representing PE and Izumo representing CE. The Kami are said to have descended from Takamagahara which I interpreted as a parallel to the PE locking in the Herrscher appearances with PROMETHEUS. I can't explain the forging of the Edict Edges in CE/Izumo though other than claiming artistic liberty for the sake of narrative.
Kevin VA also says "We (PE/Takamagahara?) gambled everything, all for the destruction of two worlds"
Blacksun is actually blackhole which Izumo orbits around. After the conflict with Kami, Acheron witnesses her planet getting devoured by blackhole. Then she realizes that splintering and forging swords, 12 sentinels etc. all that jazz was for nothing. Her planet was doomed from the beginning because of the blackhole.
6:00 "Origin" and "End" are probably Izumo people vs Takamagahara Kamis, fighting each other. Izumo wins the battle and Acheron is the last one standing on the battlefield. Last blade aka "Life". Then she witnesses blackhole swallowing Izumo and she becomes "Naught". The reason is because all that struggle was for nothing.
I assume the blackhole is actually Aeon of Nihility, IX. Idk.

Fantastic job with the video! I can see tons of effort when into this and as a HI3 player it's nice to have something like this for those who've only played HSR so as to include them in the hype as one Honkai community!
This may also inquire a possibility that if Acheron will play a major role for the main scenario now and for future updates means that we may eventually save her, as to how that would happen maybe a "Kiana" character may appear or maybe the trailblazer will play the Kiana role to save her.
If the trailblazer were indeed the one to save Acheron then it will be the trailblazer's redemption, in HI3 were Kiana failed to stop Mei in "Lament of the fallen" but succeeded in saving Fu hua in "Shattered Samsara". Just as the trailblazer failed to save firefly then the trailblazer will have his/her redemption in saving Acheron. Yes this is a bit of a stretch and the redemption part is plausible if Firefly is indeed dead (still hoping to the possibility that she is alive), its just a theory if not a speculation.
HSR and Honkai universe does connect, in one panel in the manga. Welt use a portal to travel to another dimension, and on Luocha's story they even use APHO cutscenes

All the hoyo games exist in the same universe. Flymetothemoon, ggz, hi3, and hsr all come under the honkai series.
Genshin, tears of themis, and zzz are their own separate IPs that just exist in the imaginary tree
HSR and Genshin are just branches on the Imaginary tree, different Universes with simliar Characters. Still kind of Sad that Genshin didn't turn out to be project Arc...it fit so well

Acheron's world feels like a mix between Hi3, Flamechasers, and GGZ. Lot of musical reference to Hi3 but honestly they could have thrown in the first 4 notes of Lyin in there at the very end and would have fit perfectly
Honkai World Diva permeates the whole CG however another little detail is that when the Fire sword is mentioned you can heat the first few piano notes of Nightglow...

Both CN and JP voice actors of Kevin were narrators in Acheron pv so it's definitely not a coincidence. I think it might be just an Easter egg for hi3 players but who knows

What you shouldnt forget is that in the end of acherons story she (the origin) destroyed and then absorbed the End creating naught. Nothingness. At which point acheron also got her white haired form. Meaning that acheron is essentially the fusion of Kiana and Mei in a way.

Its also worth mentioning that in Honkai cosmology, Origin and End/Finality are typically flipped in what their definitions SHOULD mean.
Finality being to START the current cycle again and Origin being what ENDS it by defying the "higher samsara".

actually on the point you made at 2:24 its assumed that our MC is the mirror of Kiana/Kevin (depending on which gender you pick). because when you meet Acheron, theres a particular line that depends on the MC's gender. for the female MC, she says that they stood "shoulder to shoulder" and for the male MC, she says that they "crossed blades".
I listened because i can't be bothered with most of the story of Hi3, got other lore books to go through, luckily this clears it up.

Here’s my theory on a couple pieces, since we know the crisis depicted in the trailer is really on two fronts; the first is the impending doom of Izumo falling into a black hole. And the second is the “invasion” of the Kami from Takamagahara. My theory as to why humans turn to Oni after fighting the Kami for too long (and the Origen of the Sentinels/Bearers weapons) is that the Kami were the Herrschers of Takamagahara, a world that survived a honkai crisis, only to fall into a black hole. They fled their doomed world to the closest inhabitable world, Izumo, and there they clashed with the natives, bringing Honkai with them, and corrupting some natives through Honkai Radiation exposure, turning them into Oni.
Hsr stelle is kiana and caelus is kevin because acheron ahs different voiceline for them

I think Acheron is both the Origin and the End in one. She is a Nihility Emanator, who has been in the void (Nihility Aeon XI).
She is continuously saying eventually everything will be swallowed by the Nihility (the end).
Even though she is the Emanator of Nihility she follows the path of the Hunt, as if she is looking for a new (better) beginning (origin).
also mei and kevin both have a connection to Nagazora which looks similar to the setting of izumo
It's not like these two universe MIGHT be related since we know already that they are since Welt is the original HI3 Welt (and there's also Void Archives running around somewhere in the Star Rail universe).
While in hi3 origin and the end work together in harmony, in hsr they destroy each other in order to be fused into “naught”. Nothingness basically

Without having played HI3, my take away from Pencony story 2, when welt and Acheron spoke, is that there are multiple HI3 verses. Welt and Acheron coming from 2 seperate ones. Moreover, this could be made more interesting with how that may interact with HI3 story 2.
I would play HI3 to experience this myself, but last I tried i struggled with controls and the PC launcher ;_; (couple years ago)
correct. the cosmology is a bit messy because of mistranslations but hi3 and hsr (and genshin, confirmed in a manga) exist in the same universe.
hoyo has plans on fixing the launcher btw, for now i suggest you look up homu labs, they make very good lore recaps for hi3 and its world structure of the imaginary tree and bubble worlds. it will make a bit more sense hopefully
I feel like some of the characters in Star Rail are manifestations of Aeons. For example the MC represents the manifestation of the Aeon of Trailblaze Akavili. Another example would be Sparkle who could represent the manifestation of the Aeon of Elation Aha while Acheron represents the Aeon of Finality Terminus.

According to my knowledge about the games, it could be said that even GI uses the base of the 12 entities plus 2 primordial ones (origin and finality), in its characters and world, but with the difference that it has more freedom on how to use them since it is not from the Honkai branch.
As for Mei, the same story of Ei in GI is a reflection of the stories of Mei(GGZ and HI3) with all and its end of being the Wishbearer, because if the last constellation of Ei is Wishbearer and if one reads the names of their constellations is basically the history of the Mei in the different universe.
Archeron could be said to be the bab ending, that ending when there was no one to save her from herself, like Kiana in HI3 and GGZ, or the traveler in GI, or there was no one to save him in this case the pathfinder, unfortunately it will come a little late for Izumo.

She was very likely the Sentinel of “Howl” or Thunder, considering Raiden Mei’s position as the Herrscher of Thunder, and Acheron in game is the lightning element. So she wielded 3 of the blades, “Howl”, “Origin”, and “Naught”
I think it is Kevin that was the End in Acherons world. She talks about fighting him alone, suggesting the trio was broken up at some point before that final battle. I wager Acheron was Kianaless for much of the alternate plot rather than closer to the end.
maybe Kami's are herrschers but go by a different term in HSR as you know now every universe is going to use the same terms for the same things they observe. but thats my theory.

If i remember correctly in first meeting acheron in the hsr game she mentions this friend maybe this friend and this dialogue also changes based on if u pick stelle or caelus maybe this friend is the "End" that was shown in acheron's trailer

And with how caelus is mostly used in the trailers and not stelle to me it would make sense to me why Kevin's jp va is the one narrating acheron's trailer because he is this "End" if you have caelus picked and if you have stelle picked well.... you'd be fighting kiana

I hope they'll give Acheron her Kiana before the end of Star Rail's story. I am aware of the 'Only Mei'' coolness concept in star rail, but it would be really cute if they decide to make Acheron meet her special someone at some point in the game
Graet video, im neutral that she was adding to HRS but i kinda expected it cause shes like in all the Hoyo games. I was planning to skip HRS Mei but i realized between the stack of pulls om sitting on and the 30 free pulls everyone is going to get in a couple day, ill probably try to pull her. Oh ps Kiana, I expect her to be added to, she was already in HI3 and Genshin (and played no small part in both roles), so its only fitting she'll be added at some point in the future to HSR. Though i dont expect Yae being added to HSR for some reason even though shes been in both HI3 and genshin too. Unless HSR have a protected holy grounds or temple of a significant lore or religious value, a guardian doesnt seem necessary since there are already memokeepers and other watchers in HSR already
To not make my post any longer ill add this in the comments, I want to see Genshin Mei interact with Genshin Kiana. I wonder if she'll "remember" her or what they would even say to each other if neither one has any memories of their "past". As far as I know, only Loomie and Aether have met Kiana before though, and their interaction was less than ideal lol

Its just reference. There is no clear connection here. People reminds Shogun similar to Mei because of her character is pretty much the same as Mei's when she became Herrscher of Thunder.

OK comments can you help me out I had heard that honkai 3rd moved into its final arc a while ago (there was a cool trailer on a train too) and I saw clips from the final arc on the moon. Right now they are advertising a part 2 with whole new characters but Island said in this video that Mei story never finished and we dont know what happened.
My question is what is going on with part 1 story is it on hold?
Part 1 is finished. But Mei still stay at Schicksal to guide the new generation until the events of APHO. Thats where things are not done yet.
The reason why Mei's story hasn't really finished because APHO timeline haven't finished just yet. We only have a cliffhanger after APHO 2 , then Part 1 finished, Part 1.5 finished then now Part 2. APHO timeline is AFTER the Part 2 timeline
What he meant was the Post Honkai Odyssey, the canon story that takes place after Part 1 and Part 2. The timeline is like this (in game year)
1. Part 1 casts : Kiana, Mei Bronya (Finished) (2017)
2. Part 2 casts : Entirely new (ongoing) (2023, 5-6 years after part 1)
3. Post Honkai Odyssey casts : Mei, Bronya, Welt and new others (ongoing) ( 2025, 8 years after part 1)
4. Alien Space - HSR (2029+, Welt went to the Star Rail universe)
Archeron seems to be interested or somewhat captivated to white haired/gray haired characters in HSR maybe because it kinda resembles kiana's? Like archeron was literally distracted by fireflies appearance that she let her guard down for a second which result to you know, donut moment.
I would say Kevin is more linked to the idea of absolute determination in the face of adversity
Honkai 3rd was the only version of him to obtain Finality, but I see what you mean.

My theory is that _HSR_ 's version of Hakushin Yayi (Mei) corresponds to Dr. MEI from the Previous Era, rather than to Raiden Mei from the Current Era, so I also think that Izumo is like a Japanese-inspired version of the advanced civilization of Mu of the same era on Earth:
The buildings in their whole state during the trailer look suitably advanced, but more importantly, Izumo forged the Sentinels from the defeated Kami, just like the Firemoth Organization created the Divine Keys from the cores of defeated Herrschers themselves. In the Current Era, there might be copies of Divine Keys made, but no true Divine Key has been created since, apart from _Infinite Intimidator_ , which is certainly cheating since Herrscher of Sentience created it herself, using her own power. The technology that Dr. MEI and VILL-V developed to turn Herrscher cores into Divine Keys is not involved. Even in the case of _Jizu Mitama_ , the tech was already in place, it's more a case of the Previous Era's Herrscher of Corruption calming down enough to be turned into a Divine Key finally.
So I am taking the fact that Izumo forged the twelve Sentinal swords, and then reforged them into _Origin_ and _End_ to mean they were sufficiently advanced to create what were basically highly-powerful Honkai-powered weapons, in parallel to the Firemoths, in particular Dr. MEI and VILL-V, who were known to create not only the Divine Keys, but stigma and battlesuit tech, as well as everything that was necessary for the components of Project SAVE, including the Golden Courtyard quantum computer that stored the simulations of the Thirteen Flame-Chasers, and the Project ARK ships.
Now, while we can conclude from Kevin's narration that he was involved in this, the only one we see fight is Yayi / Mei / Acheron. Even when the warriors lift their blades high, hers is the only hand we see, so we don't know if Kevin was a warrior in Izumo, although he was the Rank 1 Flame-Chaser for Mu (also note how after the hands become zombified, which I take to mean the other warriors were corrupted too, and turned against her, so she had to kill them too). Since Yayi _was_ a fighter, I'm making the assumption their roles were flipped, such that Kevin was a scientist and researcher. I'm also assuming that he and the other Izuman scientists concluded that the only way to prevent a real Kami of the End from manifesting was by stealing the Authority of the End from Izumo's Cocoon of Finality, just like Kevin does in _HI3_ . And just like there, he makes _End_ wait for the one who can defeat it. Which Mei, as the Sentinels reforged into _Origin_ , does. And both swords are destroyed in the clash.
But Mei has been fighting for so long, fighting and seeking are basically all she instinctively knows to do. So she senses a new threat, and turned toward it. To reforge her broken sword, she uses her own power, turning it from the broken _Origin_ to _Life_ . But the threat she now faces is IX, and the Aeon of Nihility is basically formless, so instead of cutting it, she falls into and through it. This changes her into Acheron, and her sword into _Naught_ . But she still instinctively seeks out for Life and Finality. So that's my theory about Acheron.
Now, an interesting thing, at least to me, is that when we follow Clockie to help Misha, Acheron sees Firefly and calls her 'beautiful.' What Acheron might have seen in Firefly is a bit of the Kiana she's searching for -- something she knows is instinctively there, even though she's never seen it. And the reason she's never seen it is because Izumo never had anyone like Kiana or like Elysia, and that is why they lost on the current samsara to the manifestation of the Honkai, or collapse.
But so did Mu. Because the solution that was to be discovered was discovered in the Current Era 50,000 years later, but only because of Elysia's actions in the Previous Era. This is how complicated the whole cosmology of the Honkaiverse is, because even in _GGZ_ there are samsara and kalpa as the Cocoon tries again.
Or the singular Cocoon of a different world, the way Cocoon of Unwoven is for Mars in Part 2.
The only thing is, I'm more leaning to END not Kiana but a hsr verse of Kevin... cause from the context clue we had, the END was the same person who was talking in the trailer, the same old voice who was speaking to Acheron before her final attack to Aventurine, and the counterpart of her; the White Oni... representing 'white' and with the same VA I'm more leaning it to be Kevin (who is also connected to Kiana).

This was all pretty interesting, as someone who plays HSR but not HI3. While I don’t think I can squeeze time to play a 3rd Gacha game into my schedule, how much would anyone who sees this comment recommend HI3? I have thought about playing it, but with lack of time haven’t considered it much.
i’m going thru the same thing, where i feel so left out in HSR lore that i want to know more about HI3 but have no time., i may watch OP’s HI3 recap series for lores sake tho
if you only want to play hi3 for the story you actually dont even need to pull because youll use trial characters anyway. otherwise homu labs makes perfect lore recaps
