I'm not an architect, but one of your techniques is something I've done for years when doing layout of forms. Like your furniture technique, I fill those forms out. I see so many forms that appear to have been designed with absolutely no apparent concept of how they will be used.
I'm new to Procreate and the iPad although I've been dealing with graphics on the computer since 1985. I've been exploring videos and I am glad I found yours. I find them very informative, easy to understand, and well produced. You make this 77 year old man almost want to become an architect. Thank you, James!
You made my day, Dennis! Keep the comments coming please! Will be fun to engage and hear more of your story.
The ruler!
YOU ARE THE MASTER JIM. EVERYONE SHOULD TAKE YOUR NEW PROCREATE COURSE !!!
Thanks for your kind words, Jason!
Wow, I have been thinking to optimize my productivity of drawing plans on iPad and bringing the architectural ideas out of my head without spending days and having to build a 3D model in Revit. I’m working full-time as junior architect since 2,5 years but rather in the planning sector than design. Nevertheless, quickly drawing and communicating through lines is the way architects talk. I need to practice this skill! And I actually have just decided to subscribe procreate a few days before, but I wasn’t quite sure if this application is useful for my imagination in architectural drawings. Apparently, after seeing your video, it is the right tool for me! This video just gave me the inspiration to practice! Thank you!🙏
You are so welcome and thank you for just making my day with your kind words!
What an awesome video……👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
More invaluable content than you can shake a stick at!!! (Scaled stick of course!)
Great format these now, keep up the great work 👌🏻👍🏻👏🏻🔥🔥🔥🔥
Aww, man, you're the bomb, Dr. Whoo! PS--Sorry it took so long to reply. I've had my head down working on my course. But I'll always get back to you kind sir
...or die tryin' lol
Hey @Jimmy: Not that you would have the time for this given your penchant for wandering those beautiful country roads, but you've been one of my friends on this channel and I just just wanted to follow up. The new online courses have (finally) launched and you can browse them here: james-akers-2f16.mykajabi.com/online-courses-from-ipad-for-architects-and-designers. Again, not because you need to buy one, but just to keep you abreast of goings on with your friends around the world!
@@iPadForArchitecture hey! Many thanks for the note! Always got time for the channel! I have purposely missed a few episodes so I can have a good binge watch!! I noticed the course yesterday, the content looks amazing and I wish you the very best with them!! Will take a close look this week..👌🏻👏🏻
Your friend from a cold, rainy Yorkshire, England..
Awesome video! Is it possible for you to make a video making a model in SketchUp for Ipad?
Hi, I have a couple of those already. See: "Getting Started in Sketchup For iPad" on my channel. More on the way! Thanks for your interest. Best, Prof J
@@iPadForArchitecture Awesome!..I’ll have a look,thank you.
Great and informative videos. I'm a landscape designer and just switched from 20 years of using trace paper to Procreate a couple weeks ago and I'm loving it so far. Question about the bundles on your website. When you purchase the bundle do you get the "instant" tools like you show in this video or do you need to import everything?
Let me check and get back to you. Was it clear in the product description? I’ll check anyway but please let me know thanks!
Dale: I just uploaded screenshots of the bundle contents of each Bundled item in the store. Click on the bundle on the store page, and the content of that bundle will be the second photo in the product gallery
On autocad we can draw plan as real dimension and we can print it scale. But it seem we shuold draw with scale on this app
Only if you want to and you like the idea of designing in a loose way with a pencil before you swith over to 2D or 3D CAD on your desktop. Can you share with everyone how you're using iPad drawing in your personal or professional life?
I want to be able to create quick to scale 2D floorplans, easily add multiple dimensions and then export the drawing within a template border (company logo etc). Should I be looking at Procreate or Morpholio? I have been testing Arcsite and even considering AutoCAD on iPad.
If you can send me an image of what you’re after I can better advise you. Go to my website and my email is there thanks
Hi! That is amazing. Do you have a full course and sell those templates ?
Yes I do!! Thanks for asking. The templates I mean. But I’m working on the course as we speak
Hey @camila renault calazans pessoa : just wanted to follow up. The new online courses have (finally) launched and you can browse them here: james-akers-2f16.mykajabi.com/online-courses-from-ipad-for-architects-and-designers. Thank you again for your interest!
Very nice improvments and splendid presented.
Thanks Olle!
Where is the ruler coming from?
I made them myself but you can also find them in the link in the description below video
It’s a good program, but easier to use concepts.
May have to argue with you about that brother lol! But we’ll keep it civil and share a beer )
Blimey Heck… the guys at Letraset would of fainted dead away if they saw this… !!
Haha not to mention the folks who made parallel bars and wooden drafting tables. Welcome aboard, Bristol! We need more funny around here )
How do you get the ruler please ?
Go to link in description below the video. And thank you!
I found a photograph of an old building which has been demolished.
I thought I would build a 1:76 scale model of it.
Not having dimensions but knowing the door height would be 7’-0 I know there is a way to scale the photo and warp the photo to get the correct elevation. Maybe I can put a 7’-0 line on another layer and warp the photo for the correct elevation
Any hints would be appreciated
This could be an excellent video hmmm. Thanks for question!
