Such an awesome episode. I’m from the Netherlands, and just like for the Ukrainians, this war started many years ago for us. Malaysia Airlines Flight 17(MH17) was shot down above Ukraine on the 17th of July 2014. It was shot down by a Russian missile, which killed all of the passengers and crew on that plane. Including a friend of mine and 192 other people from my country. I feel so sad for the people of Ukraine. Because they are caught in a war which was started by a guy that still believes we are living in the 19th century. I’ve seen the woman and little children arriving on Amsterdam Centraal Station, with not much more than some clothes in backpacks. This war must end, and the ones responsible must face Justice at the International Criminal Court in The Hague. We’ve got enough space for all of those war criminals. Slava Ukraini! Heroiam slava! 🇳🇱🇪🇺🇺🇦🇺🇸

What makes you think that?" "guy that still believes we are living in the 19th century"? The fact is that NATO and Western countries have violated every agreement. To spread more and more to the east. It is absolutely natural to think that this disturbs Russia's security interests. That is why Russia acts the way it does. Of course, it was an illegal war of aggression according to the UN Charter, but nevertheless, the West is not innocent of this state of affairs. To portray Putin as a crazy idealist like other war leaders in history is again just incredibly stupid media probaganda. Actually he acts quite logically and calculated and emotionless

Unfortunately, not one person, but millions lives in Russia in the 19th century. And these millions of "zombies" believe only their tsar and his court propaganda, aggressively supporting the attack on Ukraine and denying any information other than Russian TV.

2014 was "funny" generally, not only MH17 and Crimea, but even here in Czechia, Russian agents exploded our ammo storage and killed 2 people and caused damage for bilions of CZK, so for us, it also started in 2014, but until like 2021, we didn't know about that.

As a Finn, every bigger building having a bomb shelter is just Tuesday. The rules were relaxed a bit in past couple of decades because the threat level was considered lower, but every apartment complex I have lived in has had a bomb shelter place for every inhabitant.

Here in Poland it is so incredibly rare to find a bomb shelter that I have never in my life seen one. The few that exist were built by the Soviets and almost all of them are in Warsaw as they were only built under central government buildings. You would have thought that we had our lesson, be we don't really learn from our mistakes. At least we all have houses made of brick and concrete so some parts may be thick enough to serve as a shelter, but that's by coincidence rather than by design.

You can still help by supporting charity foundations (like "Serhiy Prytula Charity Foundation"), which do so much by helping both army and civilians: providing drones, vehicles, tactical medicine, optics, etc., for the Army and generators, supplies, etc., for de-occupied and front-line communities. You can check all the information about the foundation on their site where people can choose project/direction to support.

I'm Romanian. And I am painfully aware that if it wasn't for the Ukrainians, it would be us, or the Moldovans or the Poles. Or Estonians or Lithuanians or Latvians. Or some other poor country that just can't get out of the toxic influence of Moscow.
I can't but remember my grandparents. They always always always warned me about the "Russian boot". I heard so many times during my childhood about it. I was watching stuff like "Kelly's heroes" or "Where eagles dare", which were 2 of the favorite films of my grandfather. He was Polish, and a refugee that ran from the Nazi's. He arrived in Romania. Hmmm, now that I think about it, there's more to the story than I actually know, but at the time, out of 5 family members, only he and his mother survived the war and all they had was his collection lead soldiers figurines. His wife, my grandmother, was a refugee from Basarabia. So as I was watching those movies, which they approved off, and agreed that the nazi's were terrible, they would always without a single exception also say: but the Russians were worse.
I always thought they were crazy. Now I finally understand. Hitler was a 1 time thing. Russia has been exactly the same for 300 years. Or since it's inception.
Now... other nations might not be ok with that, and again, as a Romanian, I applaud, thank and welcome the Ukrainians. There's that saying, lead, follow or get out of the way. Can't speak for my government, but I, as a single citizen, am happy to follow.

Hey from Kyiv and thank you :)
Just a couple of side notes.
This war started not a year ago, but actually in 2014 with annexation of Crimean penninsula and invasion of badgeless/ flagless russian army to Donetsk & Luhansk regions. So, well, we have it going for 9 years already. It's a full scale invasion that happened february 2022.
But this is really going on for like 300+ years.
History of red-black flag goes back to like 1940-s and it was a flag of OUN-R organisation. Now it is like a UA "battle flag". Interesting thing is that when blue-yellow flag gets covered in blood, it changes it's colors to red-black.
About destroyed russian tanks. Our MFA actually has an ongoing campaign of displaying these vehicles (well, not exactly these from Kyiv, but similiar) in a lot of European countries. Like, "russian tanks are in Prague/ Warsaw/ Vilnus/ Berlin again."
I don't know why did he cross the border by foot. Maybe for more dramatism but there are trains to/from Poland and buses to a lot of European countries Poland included.
Nothing special about photos or videos. Just don't do it on military checkpoints, don't video or photo any strategic objects, military vehicles or results of missile hits if any happen. That's it.

    • @peter_oso
      @peter_oso Рік тому +1

Well, I think that compromise should involve using red-black flag in more moderation, not as equal to current flag. There is a difference in purity of fighting practice it represents, to say it mildly.

ah yes I remember clearly how Ukrain cut off all of the electricity and water to the Crimea for months before any of "referendum" happened.
and of course all of those rpg shooters that fired towards villages without aiming for shits and giggles and puttng it on the internet - they for some reason were not sent into prison as a criminals even tho those morans were not hiding at all. and some ukranians even praise them like heros wow
I don't like the war. I would like it to never happened and goverment and news annoy me when ot comes to this topic

I've been thoroughly heartbroken (rather heartsmashed) since that date, 24th February 2022.
Way back in 1976 I learned Russian (for learning Ukrainian I guess I'd have to go to the then SU, although at least I know who the Ukrainian Liudmila Pavlichenko was)
I do love Eastern Slavic culture, you know, and because those languages are so phonetic like my language (Spanish) it was not that difficult. And if you can read Russian, you can easily read Ukrainian (And Belarusian and Bulgarian, kind of).
"Schedryk" (Carol of the bells); "Moonlight night" (a most romantic Ukrainian song), "Ey Sokoly" (the beautiful Polish-Ukrainian Cossack song). And, of course chorus lile the glorious Bulgarian women-bases choruses; and, of course, many Russian songs, including the Romani ones ("Ochie Chiorny", for example). I used loved Netrebko, the Russian soprano. I used to...
And I love track and field and watched, even in 2021, the female high jumper Yaroslava Mahuchikh and her then-amiable competition with Russian Mariya Lasitskene. In the Olympics they even shared the podium. Yaroslava was heavily criticized and I could not understand why. Blame on me.Now I get it.
On that fateful date, wh-who-will-not-name started the invasion. I can't curse him, especially, him, enough, his idiotic and criminal irredentism and Moscow's "patriarch", too (I watched how Catholic and Orthodox Christians in Ukraine are united now, that alone made me cry)
Yaroslava had to flee Ukraine by car, for three days for a competition in Krakow. And after that, she WON. Later the news. Another Ukrainian male athlete, killed in the war.
Olga Smirnova (ballet dancer), who was then in the Netherlands denounced the invasion. She danced both for the Bolshoi and the main Dutch company, she has Ukrainian family. She's now dancing in the Netherlands.
For the next days I seed to watch both Ukrainian music (like the abovementioned songs) and just after that, almost on purpose, my beloved Tschaikovsky. And every single day, for months that always got tears to my eyes (gosh, even now).
The tyrant has destroyed so many lives, so many.
And just for the record. "Slava Ukraini". I hope, I know that Ukraine will win this. Every single son and daughter of Ukraine deserve just that.
With a thoroughly broken heart, I write this.
P.S: I'm 66 yo now. I hope that somehow I can visit Kyiv, and Lviv in a more "normal" manner. We will see.
P.P.S: thie guy; I'm so grateful to him. Well done!.

Frankly, if it weren’t for chronic health problems, as well as having to care for both of my elderly parents right now, I might have easily ended up volunteering to go help in whatever way I can. In my city in Germany, we have many war refugees from Ukraine. There is little Irina who found refuge here with her mother and her aunt. I regularly go shopping with the little girl, and she always tells me proudly that her cousin is fighting for Ukraine. Unfortunately, I know from her mother that her beloved cousin was killed 3 months ago. I have no idea how to teach a child something like that. Think her mother should do that. Maybe just better to leave "hystory" behind? Because we never end this shit when. The red-black flag is part of history and ancestors' struggle. Poland has a lot of dark days in Ukraine's past too, so it too needs to be resolved? You should forget your ancestors too? We need just move on. And recognize that there were bad things and were good. Leave Bandera and red-black flag to Ukrainians. I don't think anyone with a decent-minded person will ever go to Poland with this flag and glorify it there. I don't think so. So we need to ask apologise to each other. As Ukrainian I want to answer. Firstly what happened to polish people makes me sad and I don’t support murder of innocent people. But this flag was used long before that event (repins Cossacks for example which was made in 1880). I understand that under this flag people were killed but the original meaning has nothing to do with it ( black is ground and red is blood of Ukrainians who died for freedom) actually if you put original Ukrainian flag in blood it becomes black and red flag. And for me this is the only meaning that this flag has. It may be triggering to see it, but people killed other people not a flag. I completely agree that during our history we had bad times (pacification for example) and we shouldn’t forget it but we live in civilised world and this happened in the past. I respect polish people and won’t ever show this flag in Poland because for them it has a different meaning.

Two years ago I knew next to nothing about Ukraine. I did watch a Ukrainian channel on youtube called Vadim in the Wild. He makes videos about self sufficency and camping in the forest, catching fish etc. When the war broke out he had to get his wife and daughter to safety and they went to Ireland. I don't know if he has even seen them since. He said he would not be able to make regular videos like before but he occasionally still posts one and replies to comments. It is terribly nerve wracking when we haven't heard from him for a while. Is he still ok etc? I so much wanted to take in a Ukrainian refugee and make them safe here in Scotland at my house but had some problems which prevented me. But what I do know is the Ukrainians are the bravest strongest people in the world and Zelensky is a great leader. How ironic he played the president on tv and then became it for real. The Ukrainians will never give in and never lose. The coward Putin thought his tanks would roll in and crush Ukraine quickly but his tanks and his orcs were destroyed as fast as they arrived. Ukrainians are tough as prison bricks and coffin nails and they will fight to the last man and woman before they bend the knee. Slava Ukraini, slava Zelenky, heroyam slava. We stand with you.

I am from the front-line city of Zaporizhzhia, approximately 80% of our region is occupied, my city (regional center) is very close to the front line.Missiles are constantly flying towards us, the alarm signal that we have in the application on the smartphone unfortunately does not save us, because it often happens that the alarm is triggered after the arrival of missiles ((((
There is nowhere to hide if you don't live in the center of the city (that's why people are used to simply hiding in houses in rooms that are central (at least 2 walls) or corridors.
From the explosions, when the windows fly out very close and the sound is unbearable, even when wearing headphones, the membranes of the drums can barely withstand, after the rockets hit somewhere nearby, the noise remains in the head for a long time and ringing in the ears.
But what gives me the strength to hold on is faith, justice and our victory!
And the words of my history teacher back in my school years: if you feel bad, think, maybe someone in this world has it worse.
Indeed, I think that missiles are coming to us, but there are small cities of Ukraine that are even closer or are the front line.
Therefore, if someone you know is sick, lacks money or is simply not satisfied with their life, remind them of these words and about the war in Ukraine, let them think and start appreciating life in such a way what it is! 🇺🇦💛💙

Of course, I cannot recommend coming to Ukraine now, but not everything is as dangerous as you imagine. Schools and kindergartens are open. High-ranking officials and presidents come to the meeting. The west of the country is as safe as possible. The central part of Ukraine as well, but sirens sound much more often there.
But... I think that not all people in their entire lives will have at least a chance to visit a country where the biggest war after World War II is going on. And what if this is the last war of this scale in the next 200 years? The emotions and feelings you can get from what you see here can change your life. At least some views on life.

First, Snow is amazing. I might be conditioned to this view because I am Scandinavian though.
And, war. I won't to mention something very important. Something than we in the west needs to remember, and act much more on.
The general population have a way of ignoring, or forgetting these things. Even more so things we do not like to be reminded of.
Like War, not just how Russia invaded Ukraine and is commiting war crimes left and right, but many places in the world.
It easy to just fall into the same routine. But its so very important that the general population does not forget. Its important they watch videos like this. And worse.
Its important they are reminded and see the horror. As bad as this video is, its still very mild to what is going on because of Russia's invasion. Or again what is going on elsewhere in the world.
Its important people not just read about it, because so many lies are spread. But take a look of photos, and videos of these places.
Have people see it, because words you can just push aside, or make a dumb comment about what ever random Right wing or Russian propaganda you read.
But seeing the destruction, the death. That is something you have to understand as a human. And however hard it is, its really important.
its important for the people living through it. To know they are not forgotten, but also because when its seen. People want to help more.
When its ignored, and you watch your Hollywood gossip instead, then the conflict becomes stale.
The world is no longer different corners. its one thing. When the world ignore destruction, it tends to stay that way. When the world is reminded, Things tend to change.
Its really important people spend time to see these things. Also in the long run. There are so many Tin Hat media people that earn money on just saying garbage, and they have a big following.
And that means facts are forgotten, and lies become the way of life.
And that is when these issues happens. Because people do not know, and do not understand. So when they repeat the same mistakes, they do not see they step in the footprints of those who made it before.
So watch the videos. watch the destruction, feel bad, feel awful. Learn.
Propaganda is everywhere, Not just China and Russia. Its a massive issue in the US. And it leads to destruction.
Watch the hard videos. Watch the history, lest we forget.
Keep the victims alive, and keep the history presents, so you learn what steps not to follow.

They grey squirrel is slightly bigger and stronger than the red squirrel, so it can gather more food, and that typically drives the red squirrels away. On the other hand, that extra size also gets it into trouble. The red squirrel can sit on thin branches that a pine marten cannot reach, but the grey squirrel can't. So if there are pine martens the grey squirrel will typically be out-competed by the red squirrel, if there are no pine martensthe grey squirrel will be invasive and out-compete the red one.

Think about it they want to share their culture and have themselevs filmed by foreign visitors in case they get overrolled by the behemoth and their culture wiped out and lost forever.
They must not lose the conflict, their unique culture deserves to exist.

10:00 The better skin health is likely due to healthier, more natural food. Also less sun, so skin ages slower.
Fun fact, the light skin of many Europeans is due to a transparent epidermis for better light absorption for Vitamin D synthesis. The white is actually from the underlying fat layer.

I'm Ukrainian from the South, or more even South-East 50km (30ml) away from the frontline and 30km (19ml) away from ZNPP the biggest in Europe, and one of the biggest in the world nuclear power plants. Live close to historical sightseeing and a hydropower plant and dam that was designed by American engineer and ordered by soviet government and has been built in 1927-1932 and now throwing water in amounts I witnessed for a first time in my life despite the winter was not so snowy at all. Have a friend from Seattle who did not leave like others do, and was almost hit in a day missile strike (neighbouring apartments was damaged block), myself experienced missile hit few street blocks away.
Now black humour is an answer for almost everything.
Russian vehicles I usually see as a captured ones

Ah, and almost forgot. The red squirrels are original European squirrels they are classics, North American gray squirrel are different species that evolve differently from European. There were squirrels around my apartment block building, but I haven't seen them since the invasion started maybe they frightened of expressions around. And there were crows nests on the trees. In someway they love to build nests around roads in countryside, and they are usually fly in the morning and in the evening to and out of city dumps in a huge live clouds.
