    Pushing the subscribe button on your channel is probably the most rewarding thing I have done this year, apart from enjoying the sweet fragrance from my orchids, ofcourse!
    This came at the right time, when its summer here and ive been watering more than i usually do.
    Thanks, man!!! You are a gem 💎

    I've always wondered why people don't suggest a flush afterwards instead of before. If you're flushing before, it seems like the velamen would be almost full and you'd end up with more salt residue... Which I honestly witnessed even when using an incredibly weak dose of fertilizer. In the beginning I was very nervous with fertilizing and was trying to do everything suggested. I had more problems when I watered first and then fertilized. And actually this is when I got some burn. Since then I developed my own way of doing things and it's nothing special but I sometimes when fertilizing, I will flush an orchid pot after if I feel that the fert content was more than that specific orchid needed. Like too little roots or too small a pot. About 30 mins later after fertilizing I would just run plain water throughout it once more. I've had no issue with salt burn ever since the beginning and I use a much higher fertilizer content than I did before I was confident. I personally will never water first. I still have unsightly burns. And that made me think it was my fertilizer and quit using it awhile. Which was not good. So just in experience, watering first is not the way to go.
    Nice video.

      Thanks . It is always so nice to hear other peoples experience with things like this . We all have such different results with different methods that we can all learn from each other . Thanks for this 💯💕

      Same here - fertilise first then flush later - no need to worry too much about fert concentration since we flush after. I do live in an area with good low TDS water. I also dont pour my fertiliser solution through - I spray it all over the plant, media and roots when I apply ferts about 2x per week. I need to water practically daily as I live in the warm tropics.

      this is also very close to the way I do it but I don't need to water as often so I feed a little less often too . 👌

    Can you put your plant food with your water and do it all together or is it best to do it seperately

    • @thenaturecompany
      @thenaturecompany  16 днів тому

      I will often feed with every watering and then make sure I give them a good flush at least once a month , so yes you can do it together . Here are some other fertilizer videos we have made , I hope they help make sense of how we see things we regard to feeding our orchids 😉👍💕

    Is it a good procedure to flush, let's say the first week, without fertilizer till it is saturated, and then the next week let it soak in a small bucket with water plus fertilizer halfway up? And so on in turns every other week.

    • @thenaturecompany
      @thenaturecompany  2 місяці тому +1

    I usually try to soak and flush with distilled water once a month. Some people still use cal-mag even when flushing.

    • @thenaturecompany
      @thenaturecompany  2 місяці тому +1

      yes for me too I dont have the time to flush all my orchids more than once a month . If they use cal-mag then I guess it is not really flushing 😁😉

    What is the best organic fertilizer in your opinion?

    • @thenaturecompany
      @thenaturecompany  2 місяці тому +3

      I don't use a single one , I rotate them , so when one bottle is finished I use a different one . This ensures the orchids get most of what they need with the different formulations .

  • @OnceuponanOrchid
    @OnceuponanOrchid 2 місяці тому

    yes I water my plants first before spraying fertiliser. I dont see its flushing but more to get the plants to be be hydrated then feed so they can take what they need when needed. I do not dilute down the fertiliser...just normal strength as so far so good.
