@@indymotorvault ... my new early 8v 944 has been stood for 6 years, has four dry rotted tyres, and the mileage went up from 105,000 to 184,000 miles between its September 2005 right-off, and returning to the road in 2007 with a slightly bent offside strut. She has eleven previous owners, the cloth interior rips on contact with human breath, and I think I need sectioning under the mental health act ... 🤗 ...

Drove an '88 944 for 13 years and 273000 miles. Still ran great when I sold it. Drove from VA to AZ and back 4 times- most comfortable long distance car I've ever owned! Thinking about snagging a 951 in the next couple years!

As a 911 owner I can say that the 944, in whatever variant you prefer (personally I like the later 944 Turbos), is one the best sportscars I have driven in terms of smiles for miles.
Great chassis, good torque and a nice gearshift, but it still requires you as the driver to have significant input and while not as tricky as a 911 at the limit it still has some bite and the driver needs to concentrate in order to access all the cars performance.
Combine this with great practicality of a decent boot and the back seats you can get a decent amount of luggage in and the 'Porsche Tax' is a little bit less than the 911. Personally I don't think the 944 is in anyway lesser than the 911, it shares many traits namely strong build quality, driver focus, excellent vision out the front and really rewarding gear change. I would not feel disappointed owning a 944 as it delivers a different driving experience but is still a real drivers car and a real Porsche.

Thank you for the video, I own a 87 944 base, 87 944 turbo, 1990 944 S2 and a 1992 964 Turbo. I love them all, but I drive my 944 Turbo the most, My 964 Turbo is such a special Porsche. Drive them and enjoy!

What makes the S2 a S2, how is it different from the base or turbo models?

And the dials ‘view thru the steering wheel’ are fundamentally different …. 944 is a nice set up but 911 is a 5 dial arrangement with rev counter at the centre - so quite different in every aspect except font!

They're too slow. Modify them with some forged pistons, rods and a turbo. Now you're talking. 500bhp easily.

924 and 944 are by far better cars than 911 from the same age, but 911 has that Porsche Carrera line that is much more popular and wanted. For me, 944 is all day every day over 911.

@@N911GT2 yes they are... Unlike 911, 924 944 do not have oil leak as a normal. If there is no oil under 911, there is no oil in it 😀
