  • Fiat Tipo Cross is the more rugged version of the popular compact hatchback. The current generation Fiat Tipo debuted back in 2015, and in late 2020 it underwent a facelift. In the front we get new, larger Fiat logo. Depending on the trim the new Tipo gets either LED day running lights or full LED headlights, like this test car. All versions get LED tail lamps. This compact car is available as a sedan (in some markets), a hatchback, and an estate. And now thanks to product gurus, also as a hatchback with a bit more ground clearance, which they called the Cross. As in crossover.
    ↔ Fiat Tipo Cross dimensions:
    ✔ length: 4386 mm
    ✔ width: 1802 mm
    ✔ height: 1556 mm
    ✔ wheelbase: 2638 mm
    ✔ boot/trunk: 440 L
💲 Fiat Tipo starting price: 19 000 euro
💲 Fiat Tipo Cross price as tested: 25 000 euro

Even Volkswagen had their huge issues with engines and transmissions, but people still think that Volkswagen and reliability go hand in hand. When people want to believe something, might it be reliability or unreliability, they stick on it even new statistics would show something else. I am running a Tipo Cross 1.5 Hybrid 5 door among other cars, I find it hard to fault, it is a good all rounder and I took to on a work day visiting customers recently. Fuel economy good, noise good, transmission good, suspension very good, driving position and cabin very good though not high quality materials. The Tips Cross is a better car than expected and the hybrid side of things (though new to me) seems very good. It is a very good looking car. I test drove a Tipo a couple of years ago and liked it, and it was very well priced. But I found the lack of headroom in the driving position a real issue. At 1.95m I am quite tall, but almost all modern cars have ample leg and headroom. I thought at the time it was the odd design of the roof panel, with it's central recessed channel, that necessitated the use of a lower headlining and thus robbed headroom. Is this new model better ?

      @MarekDrivesENG  8 місяців тому +2

Thanks! I'm always happy, when people get me, and say it. Because most say they don't, and it's somewhat awkward 🤣
Larger SUVs or pickup trucks can accommodate two adult strangers without making it feel weird. Think the last two generations of BMW X5 or current Toyota Hilux. I know the Hilux doesn't have a pass through to the truck bed, but you can lift the seat (60:40 split), and carry some bulkier stuff on the floor, while two people sit in the back. I know, because I've done it.
Also important will be the floor, because while BMW 5 or 7 Series are wide enough, but they have high and wide transmission tunnels, which make the middle seat pretty much useless.

I drive the latest A6 and noise level is the same. Also boot is larger than most competitors. 0 - 100 is slow - 12 sec because you can't launch it with higher than 3k rpm and also it doesn't give you max boost at 1st gear. A vice common to all Fiat models is the huge distance from the steering wheel to the column stalks, which are, as you say, too stiff in one direction but too floppy in the other. Great for Tyson Fury or welders rushing from job to job, but for the rest of us a pain. The annoying little everyday things about driving are the deal-breakers, so poor cabin ergonomics and uncomfortable seats and awkward head restraint angle (they nearly all have this now) are a turn-off.
Time will tell whether the individual marques in the Stellantis brand retain their individual characteristics; a few quirks are no bad thing and give cars a bit of character.

you have never tried the Fiat with the 1.6 Multijet which is the 1.6 engine with the most torque ever. the most important thing in the car is the engine stop looking at the other bullshit

I think it's slightly overpriced when compared to some of its competitors like the Kia Xceed and the Škoda Kamiq. There are some infuriating details that bother me, like you cannot get rear disk brakes in the petrol version of the car, only the drum brakes are available (my dad owns a Fiat Stilo which is now 18 years old and it has rear disk brakes), there is a lot of shitty plastic around the interior, there is only one engine choice, no rear aircon vent (at any trim!!) etc. For example Kia Xceed has rear disk brakes as standard, it has multiple petrol engine choices, the starting one being 120hp as opposed to the Tipo's 100hp, a 7 year warranty and both the Xceed and the Kamiq come better equipped at the same price range or even a bit less. Even though I prefer the Tipo's design to both the Xceed's and Kamiq's, Fiat made those very frustrating decisions and actual regressions. Considering that my dad's old Stilo (the cheapest trim) has a higher quality interior, rear disk brakes, rear aircon vents and many more cool features that were revolutionary back in the day, especially in such a cheap car, the regressions that they made in Tipo are really annoying.

I guess the prices differ from country to country. For example in Slovakia the Cross starts at slightly over 16.000 euros which is a super price compared to the 21 thousands mentioned in the video. Kamiq and Xceed's prices are way over the Tipo's there. Edit: even 15.290 euro a few months ago

@@jdox09 I suppose, I realize now that I didn't mention I was talking about Croatia. Anyway, these prices you mentioned are reasonable then.

2023 Tips Cross I bought 1.5 Hybrid disks all round hope that helps. Also the 1.5 is a far superior engine

It's disappointing as the engine is a big letdown. Expensive for what you get for your money in the UK. The Suzuki Vitara is a better bet and similar money. The Vitara 1.4 booster jet engine is a gem. Good review Marek thanks.

Since when did voicing an opinion become harassment?

There's a difference between harassment and insulting someone. You clearly have a low opinion about my skills, when it comes to making something look bad. This hurts my feeling, as I can really make stuff look bad, if I want to. This is a pretty neutral review.

25k for 1.0 Fiat? No... Don`t buy the new engines, the better one is the old 1.4 Tjet! Or maybe Fiat just stoped it?
