How rare, a reviewer who is realistic enough to judge a vehicle on its ability to function in the real driving world. No pretention that we are all looking for a rally car. Thanks for a clear practical review.
I really don't understand why these videos get low views. Love your other channel and these car reviews are very well put together. As someone who has no clue about cars I find these videos helpful.
A good honest and very informative review. Too many other reviewers get caught up on some of the lower quality interior material finishes such as the plasticky door panel and the small screen. These are the way they are to allow the price point to be kept low. I don't tend to feel the door panel as I drive so it's not an issue. You get a hell of a lot of car for a budget price. I have the 1.4 petrol (95bhp) for 5 years and it has given no trouble at all. I find it has great take off in 2nd just when you need to get out on that. busy round-about. I highly recommend this car. Well done!
I gotta appreciate the fact that you are the only person who talked about the clutch, because I have to buy one for my first car and I wanted to know how it feels and I’ve watched a lot of videos, appreciate it thanks
It is a good car but if you're used to the driving dynamics and interior quality of a good Golf you will feel a bit disappointed. But if you want cheap reliable transport and don't care for driving enthusiastically on some of Britain's better back roads it's a very good buy.
Also the non turbo version of this engine its really good with lpg system.I have the same engine withouth turbo on my 2012 fiat bravo with 305 000 km ,only regular services, the ride is cheap excelent cars and engines for economical reasnos.
Really not a bad car. Few little niggles, but all can be explained away by the price. I'm always baffled when some people get into an affordable car, and then complain that the materials don't feel expensive. For example, complaining about 'scratchy' plastics. It'd be like getting in to a Rolls-Royce Phantom and complain that it's full of leather, wood and metal.
Cheers mate, really thorough review. Definitely the best one on the Fiat Tipo. You just got a new subscriber. Recently bought the estate version from 2018, feels like really good value for the money.
I agree with other comments. I also like the areas you cover for drivers and not just a blurb version of an advert for stats and such. Very watchable and like the standing start to give us an idea of performance etc (did well with Panda review too!) yes definitely enjoy that you come at this from a user angle thanks for sharing 🙌
The Fiat Tipo has the same chassis as the 500X, it's a distant descendant of the Punto's, to say it's the same is largely untrue: very high strength steels have been incorporated in the front axles, the overall weight has been reduced by 10%, it's been completely redesigned and this has cost Fiat 150 million euros.
I came over from your instructor channel and would love to sit on a lesson mate as I am a PDI. I have a part 3 test in November. I have used some if your tips for learners that have really helped. 💪🏻

@@RichardFanders Looking forward to it! I saw on insta already that you post it on your personal channel because of viewership dropping with reviews on Conquer Driving (total bullshit obviously). Just bought a 19 plate Tipo, 32,000 miles from Motorpoint for under £7k. I love it pretty much the same as this model except it has the larger 7” touch screen sat Sav. I Looked at repairs from fiat and a timing belt change will cost only £300 and breaks pads at £159, even better
Now you can get the Tipo as a Cross model; it has better ground clearance than the normal Tipo. Also, the Tipo belongs in the cool section of the board.
Richard mate, I love your content on conquer driving. I'm from India and I've included a lot of you're tips in my driving. Just out of curiosity. Have you ever thought about doin a joint video with another driving instructor such as Ashley Niel?
Good review, very good actually. The only thing thats getting to me is as a film maker, seeing that mic and cable 😂😂. Seriously though I like the review a lot, more helpful then others
The new version has an engine that weighs 70kgs, the front axle is much lighter. There's Uconnect 5 on a 10-inch screen and the instrumentation can be digital - echoing that of the new 500e. And still 10,000 euros less than the Golf, and 60 litres more in the boot.
It certainly is good value, but the adaptive cruise control is the worst I've used, it slows down for cars in other lanes on bends and it even braked the car quite sharply when someone was waiting to turn in a different lane on a straight. Made me nervous using it. Not had this problem with other systems I've used.
Great review, sticking to what matters in a car, instead of the things that only matter to fill magazines (like soft plastics in places you don't even notice). About using old engines, are you serious? The diesels are the latest (Multijet 2), Euro 6, and you'll have to drive like a maniac to do worse than 50mpg on the road. Funny thing about your old tech comment, it's a bit like the japanese cars, using tried and true for reliability. Good tyres instead of the default do improve dynamics and allow for spirited driving. As for lack of power, well, let's just say I trust my sources better than your driving, and even the 1.3 diesel punches way above its "weight".
If you bought a taxi to drive 200,000 miles through the potholed streets of Britain, would you choose the Tipo SW, an Astra estate or the Peugeot 308 SW?
How did you feel about the rear windscreen visibility? I feel like some hatchbacks (e g. corsa) have tiny rear windscreens so you can't get a good overview of the situation behind you.
I tend not to rely on the rear visibility for manoeuvres, I use mostly my wing mirrors. But I don't remember a problem. I am used to having a small rear window though.
Only thing they missed out on, 40/20/40 rear seats... But basically it's between this and a Dacia sandero... Honestly think I'd pick the fiat for the more powerful engine
Yes ,sometimes the "sensible" cars get overlooked. 0 -62 times.times..etc not relevant for some..they just want to know MPG ..is it reliable...is it comfortable...Tax and insurance cheep enough...some folk would sooner spend money to look to others...and some just dont care lol.
Hi mate. Not sure if you will reply to this as it seems a little silly. But im currently debating weather i should get a seat ibeza fr 2016 1.2T 89hp. Or a 2014 fiesta zetec s ecoboost 1.0T 123hp. And which 1 is better in you opinion as a first car n is the extra power of the fiesta worth it?
Do you have some plans on for what you wanna use the car for? As in either riding in the city or outside of it, or doing distance in it. Or just fun. It could also be for enjoyment.
If both are automatics, then both should be fine if you drive them normally. If both are manuals, then at least they are a six speed manual rather then a five speed. At the end of the day, it really comes down on which car you like to sit and drive in the most. What you feel can be important.
@@connormoore2748 then I honestly think that short and lounge cruises, the fiesta could be your answer. But then again, how they drive could be a final decider.

Over the years I have hired many cars but this car was remarkable as being a bag of bones and full of rattles despite being just over a year old. As this was a 7 day hire this was not a quick assessment. Also it has very poor passenger safety features as per its NCAP rating
I've had 2 tipo's. My first one (1.4 petrol hatchback) I had nothing but problems with, needed a brand new gearbox after 13k, window regulator snapped, mass air flow sensor was knackered, plastic trim inside never stayed clipped together, handbrake failed. I ended up getting hit by a stolen driver between 50-60mph (T-boned on drivers side) and although it was a complete write off as you would expect, I came away with no major injuries and even managed to go for a walk later that night. My 2nd Tipo on the other hand which is a 1.6 diesel SW, I absolutely adore and is definitely here to stay for the foreseeable future. The reason I went for another Tipo was because of how practical and cheap it was to buy 2nd hand. Like it says in the video, it's no Hilton Hotel, but if you can settle for a b&b in Blackpool then it's definitely worth a punt!
